I have been unwilling to get a Pro controller due to price points and the fact that the Joy-Cons in the grip work fine for me. That said, while the individual Joy-Cons are convienent for multiplayer on the go, they're not always suited well for some games. I may get one or two of these for multiplayer in docked mode.
@link422007 Those technically didn't release in the west. They were released in other Asian markets with English translations, but not in North America or European territories.
I could tell right away RDR2 was already decided for pretty much everything. My problem with awards like this is that the most recently released hyped thing almost always wins. In 2015, GameFAQs's "Best game of all time" poll went to Undertale, which was only out for maybe a month at that point. (As much as I like Undertale, no way is it the best game ever made, in my opinion).
The other major problem I have is that we're deciding the "Game of the Year" with over a month left in said year. I know December isn't normally a time when "major" releases usually happen, but last I checked, those games are exempt from the next year's nominations, so even if a really awesome game is released in December, they'll never even acknowledged.
I know I'm far from an authority on what the kids like these days, but if I ran this sort of shindig, I would at least wait until the end of the year so that an entire actual year's worth of releases can be considered, and possibly even wait until the hype dies down so we don't just hand every award to a game that was released two weeks ago.
While the question does come up in my mind concerning the ratio of actual quality games to hot garbage, I realize it doesn't matter. The good games on the system are genuinely good and it's not like I'm going to be coerced into buying the bad ones anyway. I know people will always bring up what to do when the good games are done, but personally my recent backlog focus has made me all but oblivious to the droughts. Even failing that, I have games I like on past consoles I haven't played in a long time.
The cons far outweigh the pros for me. On the one hand, many of the Neo Geo games I actually care about or have been interested in trying are actually on the list. On the other hand, its look is very... seasonal, it will probably end up as an ebay exclusive anyway, and for the money, I'd rather just buy the individual games on the Switch.
Last I checked, this doesn't affect gameplay, so I honestly don't care either way. People are so divided on every single little thing these days that people are going to be mad no matter what Nintendo would have done here. I'm just going to enjoy the game, no matter what form it takes, and judge it on how well it plays. If that makes me sound like a self-centered jerk, then so be it. Normally, I don't even bother commenting on stuff likr this, but my morbid curiosity got the best of me, and I see a bunch of people getting into a super heated argument about two frames of animation on a character and what Nintendo wanted to do to save face. That's all I'm going to say on the subject, best of luck to you all.
And I'm just sitting here like, if you have ideas for stuff like this before the game is even out, then just wait and put them in the game. I remember a time when people would be outraged that DLC would be set before the game even releases, and now it's not only considered acceptable, but it's expected and people look forward to it.
And yet I'll probably buy the DLC myself so I'm a hypocrite I suppose.
I just want to be able to play Skies of Arcadia without paying approximately 3 small fortunes. And Sonic Adventure 1 and 2. I don't care how poorly they've aged, I still love 'em.
I'm really excited for this. I'm kind of irked by the fact that I had this pre-downloaded and it wouldn't unlock this morning since the unlock is timed with the eShop update at noon. I was really hoping to play this on my lunch break at work, but alas, I'll have to wait until later.
Maybe, considering that the initial Wii models had Gamecube controller ports, maybe the Wii Remotes weren't originally meant to be wireless? ...Yeah, probably not, but that was my first thought.
I'm just trying to knock out a bunch of smaller games on my backlog. Namely Tails Adventure, Dragon Crystal, Ristar, and Castle of Illusion. The fact that they are all Sega games is coincidental.
Since I've finished Dragon Quest XI, Dragon Ball Fusions, and my latest playthrough of Undertale, I'm moving on to quick backlog related stuff. More specifically, Srrong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles
I loved the first game and have been looking forward to the second since it was announced. My only worry is that Squeenix played its "Dragon Quest XI needs to sell well if you want more Dragon Quest games localized" card recently and we may not see Builders 2 in the west.
I got a lot of stuff to do but in between I'm going to try and squeeze in as much Dragon Quest XI as I can. Also Dragon Ball Fusions on 3DS for my lunch break because I work full shifts on Saturdays.
Isn't this the same collection that was released on PS4 and XB1 and the games didn't run properly or something? Either way, I'm good with the Genesis collection I already have and will just get the arcade version of Gain Ground when it releases via Ages
I'm still holding off for Gain Ground and Phantasy Star, but it's nice to finally know when these start coming out. I'm just hoping they're not drip-feeding the initial titles to us over the course of like 3 years or something.
I'm not biting. There aren't any games I can think of (except maybe Dragon Quest Builders 2, and who knows when that's coming out) I would be playing online, I can do without cloud saves personally, and all the NES games I truely care about I already have on my 3DS. I can use that 20 bucks a year toward something more substantial.
I personally never cared for Yellow. I don't like the anime and thus didn't like the shoehorned changes as a result. I always preferred Red over it and other games since then. That said, it's still an important piece of series history and worth acknowlegement.
I was going to try this, but I hadn't played it before and was unaware it was full touch screen control, which I personally don't care for. So, I'm probably not going to go for this now.
I can understand where he's coming from in maintaining those kinds of games, but as far as I know, Miyamoto isn't the only person there who makes games (if he even makes games anymore) so I think a Nintendo MMO is still possible.
I personally don't really see what other people do in Zero Mission. Then again, the only parts I truely remember were the intricately frustrating Shine Spark parts to get certain powerups and the forced stealth section tacked on the end. Either way, to each their own.
If they're thinking about how sequels will be affected, they shouldn't have called it "Ultimate." Ultimate literally means "last," or "final," and is usually reserved for something that has reached its pinnacle and really can't be improved upon.
This is the last non-exclusive game I'm getting for the PS4. I was going to hold out for the Switch version, but who knows when (or if) we're going to get it? I'm sure it will be released, but I have my doubts it will do so outside of Japan. The international release date for the PS4 version is in a terrible place, and it can easily be overshadowed by games releasing around the same time that many are excited for (Spider-Man, Red Dead Redemption 2, etc.), and I have my doubts that DQXI will sell well enough for Squeenix to continue support for it.
Personally, I would've preferred the 3DS version overall, but look how that turned out.
