Re: Switch Nindies Nominated Across Multiple Categories At The Game Awards

CaptFloofers

I could tell right away RDR2 was already decided for pretty much everything. My problem with awards like this is that the most recently released hyped thing almost always wins. In 2015, GameFAQs's "Best game of all time" poll went to Undertale, which was only out for maybe a month at that point. (As much as I like Undertale, no way is it the best game ever made, in my opinion).

The other major problem I have is that we're deciding the "Game of the Year" with over a month left in said year. I know December isn't normally a time when "major" releases usually happen, but last I checked, those games are exempt from the next year's nominations, so even if a really awesome game is released in December, they'll never even acknowledged.

I know I'm far from an authority on what the kids like these days, but if I ran this sort of shindig, I would at least wait until the end of the year so that an entire actual year's worth of releases can be considered, and possibly even wait until the hype dies down so we don't just hand every award to a game that was released two weeks ago.

Re: Video: Nintendo Really Wants You To Know That The Switch Has More Than 1,000 Games

While the question does come up in my mind concerning the ratio of actual quality games to hot garbage, I realize it doesn't matter. The good games on the system are genuinely good and it's not like I'm going to be coerced into buying the bad ones anyway. I know people will always bring up what to do when the good games are done, but personally my recent backlog focus has made me all but oblivious to the droughts. Even failing that, I have games I like on past consoles I haven't played in a long time.

Re: Nintendo Will Remove Smash Bros. Ultimate's Offensive Depiction Of Native Americans

Last I checked, this doesn't affect gameplay, so I honestly don't care either way. People are so divided on every single little thing these days that people are going to be mad no matter what Nintendo would have done here. I'm just going to enjoy the game, no matter what form it takes, and judge it on how well it plays. If that makes me sound like a self-centered jerk, then so be it. Normally, I don't even bother commenting on stuff likr this, but my morbid curiosity got the best of me, and I see a bunch of people getting into a super heated argument about two frames of animation on a character and what Nintendo wanted to do to save face. That's all I'm going to say on the subject, best of luck to you all.

And I'm just sitting here like, if you have ideas for stuff like this before the game is even out, then just wait and put them in the game. I remember a time when people would be outraged that DLC would be set before the game even releases, and now it's not only considered acceptable, but it's expected and people look forward to it.

And yet I'll probably buy the DLC myself so I'm a hypocrite I suppose.

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Online FAQ - Everything We Know So Far

I'm not biting. There aren't any games I can think of (except maybe Dragon Quest Builders 2, and who knows when that's coming out) I would be playing online, I can do without cloud saves personally, and all the NES games I truely care about I already have on my 3DS. I can use that 20 bucks a year toward something more substantial.

Re: Rumour: Dragon Quest XI On Nintendo Switch Could Feature Extra Content

CaptFloofers

This is the last non-exclusive game I'm getting for the PS4. I was going to hold out for the Switch version, but who knows when (or if) we're going to get it? I'm sure it will be released, but I have my doubts it will do so outside of Japan. The international release date for the PS4 version is in a terrible place, and it can easily be overshadowed by games releasing around the same time that many are excited for (Spider-Man, Red Dead Redemption 2, etc.), and I have my doubts that DQXI will sell well enough for Squeenix to continue support for it.

Personally, I would've preferred the 3DS version overall, but look how that turned out.
