Re: Review: Limbo (Switch eShop)

CaPPa

I bought Limbo when it first released on the Xbox 360 and absolutely hated it. I found it to have subpar platforming and so so puzzles; that were glossed over by moody visuals. I forced myself to finish it but it's one of the few games that I regretted spending even $15 on. I'd rate it a 3/10 and that's being generous.

Another World/Out of this World is a better 'trial and error' game.

@zool
I think for the Wii U owners they should have given a discount on the Switch ports. It could have only worked for digital owners, but Id be more in inclined to double dip on some games if there was a 40 or 50% discount.

While the next few months are a bit lean, I think that the holidays are pretty stacked, with a focus on family/friends playing together (Mario Party, Pokemon Lets Go, Smash Ultimate). For a family man like me I'm likely to buy them all (even though im not interested in Mario Party I can see the kids bugging me to get it).

Next year will hopefully be more about 'just me', with Fire Emblem, Bayonetta 3 and Metroid Prime 4 being my most wanted games on any platform.

Re: Nintendo Still Confident It Can Ship 20 Million Switch Consoles This Financial Year

CaPPa

@WiltonRoots
Exactly, its not like those games will go moldy. I believe that a lot of people buy systems after there are a certain number of games available that interest them. So for example they wont buy a Switch just for Zelda, but they'll buy one for Zelda, Mario and Smash.

Everyone has different games that sell them a system, I don't even own Zelda, Mario Kart or Splatoon 2 on the Switch and they are supposed to be big system sellers.

Re: Nintendo's Share Price Falls Yet Again With A Lack Of Game Announcements Possibly To Blame

CaPPa

I know that Nintendo had a rather lackluster E3 but it isnt exactly recent news so Im not sure why it would just worry investors now, especially with 2 huge releases set for the holidays (Pokemon and Smash). It feels like journalists are trying to be sensational about it.

My guess would be that the shortage of available components are worrying investors more, because if Nintendo cant build enough systems then they wont meet their targets for the year. Thats money.

But what do I know, maybe the journalists are right and its because there hasnt been a new Mario or Zelda announced every week.

Re: Review: Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (Switch)

@GKO900
It's simply true. I owned both the PS1 and N64. My PS1 was awesome for Resident Evil, Wipeout and Tekken but no platformer on it (2D or 3D) could match any of Nintendo's.

Now if you think that Crash was better than Mario 64 when they released then I'd say that would be fanboyism.

@Agramonte
There's no price difference between Switch/XBO/PS4 if youre buying digitally, as it's $80 on all the stores. You can find it cheaper at retail because they drop the prices to clear the stock.

I skipped this on XBO/PS4 because of the draw of a portable version.

@Giygas_95
Some reviews are out but they are mostly in Italian or something.

The game is obviously good and it looks great on Switch when docked. What I want to know is how it plays in handheld mode though, because if it isn't very playable then I could just get it on Xbox/PS4 for cheaper.

Re: Sony "Looking At A Lot Of The Possibilities" When It Comes To Fortnite Cross-Play Support

CaPPa

@GKO900
The funny thing is when the PS4 and Xbox One were first shown Sony had the exact same plans as Microsoft with DRM and a required camera. When they saw the backlash against the Xbox One they quickly changed their plans, ending up at E3 where they ditched the PS Eye at the last moment to allow for a lower price point (hence the pointless dualshock light bar). It won them the gen before a single console even hit the shelves. They wasn't being consumer friendly though, they were just scrambling to appear different and spouting buzz words that people were eating up.

Re: Review: R.B.I. Baseball 18 (Switch)

CaPPa

I liked All-Star Baseball on the N64. Outside of that I've never been that interested in Baseball games and it doesn't look like that's about to change with this game.

Maybe if a good Mario Baseball game came out akin to Aces I might be more interested.

Re: Hamster To Unleash Renegade On The Mean Streets Of Switch

CaPPa

@GrailUK
I remember waiting for Renegade to load on the C64, then it would crash, then I'd rewind the tape and start waiting again. Sometimes I'd do that 3 or 4 times, my patience was much greater then.

I still enjoyed the game though, so I might pick it up for nostalgias sake.

Re: Ubisoft's CEO Shares Views On Partnership With Nintendo And State Of The Video Game Industry

CaPPa

@Cobalt
Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate is out in August, which is much more advanced than MH3 and has 3x the content of World.

Ubisoft supported the Wii U very well and didn't get much from it, so they've clearly held back with the Switch.

I think part of the problem for multiplatform titles going forward is that there's a good number of people who own a Switch and another console, so when buying a game they have to choose between portability and graphics. For Ubisoft it probably won't increase overall sales much if its just splitting them between 2 platforms. So they'll look at games that make the most sense for the handheld.

If they made an exclusive Splinter Cell, Prince of Persia, Assassins Creed etc I think that it would probably sell fairly well, but instead here comes another Just Dance.

Re: Review: Mario Tennis Aces (Switch)

CaPPa

@MrPerson0
So any game that reuses assets is a port? As lots of games do that then there must be lots of ports our there, like Call of Duty reusing assets means they are all ports, or sports games are simply ports each year, in fact most sequels do, so GoW1,2,3 etc are all just really ports. If so then it's probably harder to find a game that isn't a port nowadays.

Re: Shadowgun Legends Is Bringing Free To Play FPS Action To Switch

CaPPa

In the video it kind of looks like if Metroid Prime and Call of Duty had a baby.

I've bought a few games on the Switch that were originally mobile/tablet games (such as Manticore), but they had good production values and actually work better on a system with natural controls.

I don't like the Free to Play model as everything usually ends up behind a pay wall. I'd rather just buy a game outright with everything unblocked. I'll give this a try though.

@GameOtaku
When I saw it I thought it was Shadowrun too. I loved the SNES version but the last incarnation on Xbox was nothing like it at all. There was a remake of the original happening on mobile but I'm not sure what happened to it. I wouldn't mind that being ported to the Switch.

Re: Review: Fallout Shelter (Switch eShop)

CaPPa

@dartmonkey
I had the issue on 2 different saves, when I'd try to start a quest it would leave the hint screen on top of the entire screen and it wouldn't go away; completely ending my game.

Thankfully on my 3rd save it has worked ok and I can now do the quests. The extra Caps and bonuses certainly help; as now I can go over 100 dwellers with ease.

Re: Review: Fallout Shelter (Switch eShop)

CaPPa

I've been playing quite a bit of Fallout Shelter but there are some major issues with the game. The biggest of them is that the game always crashes when trying to build the overseers office. That makes it impossible to progress very far because you can't do quests without it.

I've reached 80+ dwellers but without the quests you can't get the bonuses and they all end up being killed by roaches.

Re: Nintendo's Share Price Plummets In Response To E3 Direct

CaPPa

I was disappointed with the E3 direct but they did list a bunch of titles that are releasing this year. After the dust had settled I made a list of the games I plan on picking up this year and its completely dominated by Switch games. The only PS4 title coming is Spiderman, the only Xbox one is Forza Horizons 4, with the multiplatform Red Dead Redemption 2, COD, Assassins Creed Odyssey, FIFA, Madden etc rounding out the releases. Unless there are games I'm forgetting the Switch lineup seems much fuller than the PS4/XBO offerings.

Here's my currently 'most wanted' list for 2018:
Mario Tennis Aces
Donkey Kong + Rabbids
Wolfenstein 2 TNC
Octopath Traveller
Okami
Monster Hunter Generations
TWEWY
FIFA 19
Starlink
Spiderman
Red Dead Redemption 2
Pokemon Lets Go Pikachu
Super Smash Bros Ultimate

I might add Assassins Creed Odyssey to it, as although I don't like A.C. games that one actually looks good.

So a poor E3 showing, a weaker year, but there's still a bunch of games that I want.
