To celebrate the biggest gaming trade fair in the world, E3 - which you no doubt know has been taking place this week - Nintendo is hosting a huge sale across Nintendo Switch, Nintendo 3DS and Wii U with offers on digital purchases.
There are currently two sales taking place, one for North America and one for Europe. We've included links to explore these sales below, but we should mention that the European website doesn't seem to list all the offers actually present on the eShop so make sure to boot up your console and fully explore.
Highlights include variously priced discounts on titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 2, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, FIFA 18, Fire Emblem Warriors, Rocket League, and many, many more.
The sale ends on 21st June so don't miss out!
Make sure to check out the sale in your region and let us know if you'll be picking anything up in the comments below.

Both sale links go to the UK site.
Picked up Golf Story - loving it so far! Now anyone that hasn’t bought Splatoon or Mario+Rabbids, snap those two up immediately and put a big grin on your face.
Unfortunately, yeah.
My first time seeing it though.
I'm still debating pulling the trigger on Samus Returns. I've got some eshop funds, so it'd only be $15 for me. But some nagging feeling has me holding back. And it's not my backlog. HALP
Fifa 18 seems worth a go at that price
I won't be buying anything, the discounts are for games I own or not interested in unfortunately
Might save my money for Mario Tennis or pre-order Octopath Traveller.
@Mince-Pie
Whilst Fifa 18 is a perfectly decent game, in my opinion it's still a lot to pay for a game that will effectively be out of date and nobody will want to play in 3 months time
@Marios-love-child
Fair point, I mean Fifa 19 is out in like September right?
I think I might get Rocket League.
There's some really good deals, check them out for sure. I'm gonna pick up Golf Story and Night in the Woods. Been waiting for sales on both so it's a good week!
Getting Miitopia for me and my son Aiden, then get Xenoblade Chronicles 3D for myself. Might get Dragon Ball Fusions too but not sure. Or maybe LEGO Worlds and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2....Not sure at all lol
@mjharper Both links worked for me - I'm in the US - and man is that UK site weird. They have a tab for Labo, who does that?
Starfox 64 3D $26.79. Ha ha. Not impressed. I picked up Starfox Zero the other day for $5.00 (TRU bankruptcy). It was worth if for Project Guard, game is really fun, makes great use of the Gamepad dual screen set-up. Starfox is ok as well.
We will be picking up Mario v Rabbids Gold for $44. 45% off is something I can get behind. The game is, and has been, $30 on a regular basis but the DK DLC $20 season pass for another $14 may be the cheapest we'll see for awhile. I just need to go buy some eShop cards first.
Blossom Tales HERE I COME!
@Mince-Pie
Yes usually tends to release the last Friday in September
Splatoon 2 is an excellent deal at $40. Combine that with the recent “Buy a $50 eShop card for $45” deal from PayPal and it gets even better.
Hmm..... What to get.....
Dragon Ball Fusions or Story of Seasons?
@Marios-love-child I'll be going back to the World Cup mode on it long after I pick up FIFA 19. Obviously can't say for certain whether many others will do likewise.
I was amused that the Wii U eShop was showing the 3DS SNES game sales, but Nintendo couldn't be bothered to discount them for the Wii U also. Likewise, how difficult would it have been to discount the Wii U games like Splatoon as part of the E3 stuff.
I know they want to deny the console's existence but it feels like leaving money on the table over something that would have taken an intern 15 minutes to do.
Dragon Ball Fusion $15 on 3DS. Game gap solved.
@Beatley82
That's a good point, the World Cup mode will still be relevant, just the Premier League modes with Kit's & Squads that will be out dated by August when the new football season starts.
I guess it all depends on how important that sort of stuff is to you. Whilst it makes no difference to the game play it just never sits right with me playing as my favourite team (Liverpool) with players that no longer play for the Club. Call it a mild OCD if you wish
The majority of this stuff, including Rocket League, was already on sale before the E3 sale began anyway. And those are arguably the better deals too.
Oh well, still better than no sale!
XC2 sale please
Grabbed Pac Man Championship Ed for $10.
I posted about this on Wednesday. I'm glad you finally put this up but why oh why does it take you so long?
Meanwhile I picked up Splatoon 2 as I think it's the cheapest it's ever been.
Might pull the trigger on Night in the Woods finally.
And I will also vouch for Golf Story for anyone who hasn't taken the plunge on it yet. Game is so fun and the story has such a fun sense of humor and a lot of heart.
@Mince-Pie But if I bought anything by EA, I couldn't bear to live with myself
These deals are, as usual, not very good. To compare, I just picked up South Park Fractured Gold Edition on PS4's E3 sale for $30, while on Switch it's $70. Yikes.
This is probably the best sale to date for the eShop. There was a good one during Black Friday 2017 but this is good. I picked up the Octo Expansion today and then decided to grab Golf Story and Super Punch-Out for my 3DS.
It would have been great if the article included a list like they used to.
Picked up Golf Story and Blossom Tales yesterday (I'm weak and trust NL's review too much)
I do not see any "bargains" on Switch in this sale
@Marios-love-child does fifa have simple/arcade/rookie control options? Only thing holding me back on it.
I own most of these so I'll just be picking up pac man
Golf Story and Fe for $10 each? I might have to add to my back log of games...
@PhilKenSebben
It can be played with a single joy con on its side so I'd say yes.
I've grown up playing Fifa so the controls just feel kind of natural to me but I can see why they may seem abit overwhelming if it's new to you
I wish I’d waited for this sale on PCE2. Oh well... tempted to get Night in the Woods but I’ve got plenty to play so probably not.
Ugh, Mario kingdoms or wait for Mario tennis
Nintendo's discount policy (only give discounts in titles nobody buys) really makes discounts useless.
By the time they add a discount for an interesting title the person interested most likely already bought it.
E.g. what good is a discount on BotW if almost everyone who wants it already has it?
Nobody will suddenly buy BotW because it's such a great and huge high-profile game that people will buy it for the full price.
Whoever doesn't already have BotW probably doesn't like LoZ or fantasy or open world games in general.
With the limited number of interesting/good games on Switch (just look at the titles in the links from the article!), Nintendo should think about giving general discount codes so the user can choose the game they want to use the discount on.
I know 30th Anniversary Collection is now available, but at half price, Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers looks mighty tempting. Should I bite?
I played a lot of SFII on SNES back in the day, but haven’t played it since 1994! And I’m really digging the hand-drawn artstyle!
@Beatley82 I will..!! I’m loving the World Cup update.
Finally grabbed Apollo Justice through this sale. Been waiting for a chance to fill that gap in my AA library for quite some time now.
I wish I didn’t buy splatoon 2 on launch or zelda with my switch or mario kingdom batttle at launch so I could’ve enjoyed these discounts
I guess these discounts are for people who just bought a switch recently.
@shani
Totally agree.
I hadn't even looked at Zelda as I'm not really a fan. (I'd give it a try if the price was good though)
Your coment made me curious so when I looked I was surprised to see it at £44.99
Its hardly even a worthy discount, its pretty much the same price I can buy a physical retail copy for, I'm sure if I shopped around I could find a cheaper physical copy if I really tried.
It would need to be a much better discount to tempt me, at least with a physical copy I'd have the option of trading it it if I didn't like it where as if I were to download it I'm stuck with it with zero resale value
@HobbitGamer i honestly don't think you'd regret it. I paid full price & I'm very satisfied & impressed w mercury steam's effort here. It has great 3D, too, which matters to me.
I wouldn't call these "bargains" (well, some, maybe). Sure, those games are sold for less during this sale, but to me, a "bargain" sounds like a really, really good sale. Like, you know, when we use the expression "bargain bins" in store? Stuff you can get without much thinking about it because they're priced very low.
But then again, this is a Nintendo platform... where everything is almost always pricier for stuff you can get everywhere else (multiplatform titles)... and sales often disapointing compared to sales happening elsewhere.
I still might go for Golf Story, as I've heard a lot of good stuff about it. At $14 (Canada), the price seems reasonable to me.
@1UP_MARIO I payed £48 for Zelda on launch day. It's now £45 on the eShop. When you say "I wish I didn’t buy zelda with my switch so I could've enjoyed these discounts", do you really mean to say that you would have denied yourself the opportunity to play one of the greatest games ever made until over a year after launch, just so you could save three quid?
Is this a statement you really stand behind?
@The_Pixel_King I was wondering exactly the same, but the reviews are pretty bad. It seems to be mainly due to the cost (which would be remedied by half off) & the first person extra mode being trash (I expected as much, tho). I played SF Alpha 2 on 3ds VC which is terrible due to loading times. Oh yeah, i did buy SFIV 3D on sale for 3ds some time ago, but didn't play much of it because I keep getting systems w loose hinges & made it pretty hard to play on 3ds.
@twztid13 I grabbed a N2DSXL (mouthful) specifically because I never used the 3d effect enough on my old 3dsxl years ago. [It was neat when I did, but my eyes already get a work out all week from a computer- and small-print- oriented career]
Will i still enjoy it as much in 2d? I love LoZ:LBW in 2d
@The_Pixel_King
In my opinion I would spend the extra $20 for the 30th anniversary collection. Ultra SF2 is a really good game but is pretty much a prettier more polished Super SF2 Turbo that is included in the collection. On top of that if you want to play online there is no one playing Ultra SF2 anymore. I tried the other day for the hell of it bout a week after the 30th collection release and I never got a match to play. The 30th collection also has a simply amazing history section that goes incredibly in depth, and probly the best part it has every single music track from every game. I was cleaning the house the other day to Ken's stage music in SSF2T,and to say it was pretty bad ass would be an understatement.
@Darknyht Yeah. I feel like they're running off of pride.
@rjejr Were the majority of the games discounted that much?
I wasn't quite early to the TRU closing stuff. Wondering if I should go a bit further to possibly get a deal.
@scubydo @BradC40 @Nintendofan83 @UmbreonsPapa @River3636 @Caryslan @Brandles @rjejr @Pokefanmum82 @MoonKnight7 @Giygas_95 @Mince-Pie @HobbitGamer
All you guys on the fence, maybe getting the eShop credit at an additional 10% off will help.
https://www.paypal-gifts.com/us/nintendo10off.html
@leo13 that's tempting!!
@Maxz I was joking pal but sacasm is real
@scubydo yes it is. I bought 1 and I already own all the games in that sale that I want. I just figured I'll use it eventually so I might as well get it cheaper now
@Mariotag TRU closing stuff
This week video games were 70% off. SFZ had been normally $18 for a long time now. Video games were 50% off for the past few weeks but I coudln't bring myself to buy SFZ for $9. Also they had about 2 dozen copies. They only had 1 left after I bought mine, I guess 70% off was the magic number for Starfox.
amiibo are 70% off as well, I actually bought 6 of those but am hiding them away in shame.
@leo13 I don't use paypal but thanks. I am waiting until Sunday to see if any retailers put eShop cards on sale before buying MvR. Sometimes they'll have a B1G1 20% off sale. Not much, but something.
@HobbitGamer I think Link Between Worlds has some of the best 3d on the system (uses it in unique ways & enhances the gameplay moreso than just using it for it's own sake, is the best way I can think to put it). Metroid doesn't really do that, as it really serves no other purpose (no enemies have shots that come out at u, or as in Zelda's case, the enemies don't pop out of the screen toward u when hit, or anything like that). All of that basically means, I don't think that is what makes the game great at all, so I think you'd love it on a 2ds juat as much as i love it on 3ds. It's just 3d, for the sake of 3d, but done really well in samus return's case. some games just put everything deep in the screen & put hud elements on the layer closest to the player, which is extremely lazy, IMHO. I respect the games that put every single object in the game at a certain depth & not just the hud. Samus returns puts every single thing in the game at it's proper place in the 3d landscape, so nothing is just a flat layer. I hope any of that makes a little sense, as I'm not very good at describing the 3d since I don't know what the names for the different planes & effects are. Again, it made me enjoy it more because it helped the immersion, but I appreciate the 3d effects. If u don't, i dont think it would take away from the enjoyment of the game itself. It's more like a bonus feature, if that makes sense. I have played every metroid game besides zero mission (& haven't beat fusion yet, but the 3ds was my 1st handheld, as I never had an interest until it offered something i couldn't get at home, that being the 3d. I got the ambassador games which included fusion, & am in the process of playing that). This game may not be the best ever to me, solely because the objective of finding 40 metroids was offputting as opposed to a foreign world that I had no idea of each objective, nor how long it was, was more appealing to me (like every other metroid, basically). I didn't care for this game in game boy, so i expected to find it underwhelming, but it easily surpassed my expectations & even made me a fan. I can't think of where to rate it, because the other 2d games are classics, but it's definitely better than the original, and not far behind the other 2d games, but i just can't put many games ahead of those. I hope this helps u some, because i know how hard it is to make decisions sometimes. I wanted to give u as much info as possible, so u could weigh my opinion by seeing how much u agree or disagree w my other statements. I didn't see what the cost was, like how much of a sale, but my recommendation is on the full price, so I'd say go for it on any sale price, for sure. Take care, man.
@DickeyWord oh, wow, it's dead already? That's a deal breaker then, as that was the oy reason i was considering it, besides the new updated artwork. Thanks.
@leo13
Haha, well I wasn't on the fence, but thank you anyway! Nice of you to share the info.
@Marios-love-child Yeah, that as well. I hadn't even thought of a case like yours but for these cases the discount simply isn't significant enough.
FYI You can buy most of the big Nintendo games (without any discounts applied) for ~40€ in the South African eshop, so ~35 pounds. The same applies for non-Nintendo games of course, the SA eshop is just way cheaper.
So with that in mind, 45 pounds (~50€) doesn't even represent a discount, it's actually more expensive. ^^
@rjejr: Some Amiibo are going for good profit on eBay.
@Everyone_Else: Those aren't deals; they're barely jokes. Ok, they are cheaper, but not by much. The only thing I would get is Myths & Monsters, since I can't get that physical brand new.
@rjejr Just to be sure, TRU is Toys R Us, right?
I'd love to get SF0 for $5 tbh.And maybe some amiibo.
If that's the kind of discounts going around.
Problem is, nearest store is an hour away. About $45 travel expenses maybe.
@Mariotag Yes Toys R Us. Most are pretty much cleared out at this point though, probably nto worth the trip. Mine is about 8 minutes away in the strip mall where I do my weekly grocery shopping so I just stop in when I food shop once a week.
@Capt_N "Some Amiibo are going for good profit on eBay"
Thought crossed my mind when I saw Cap'n, man is that frog ugly, and ugly usually fetches a better price. I picked up the Miifighters 3 pack for $7.50 since they are in SSBU my kids can level them up in 8 player if nothing else. Also got the owl for $3 - he reminds me of the owl from the Tootsie Pop commercial so I'm putting him on my Funko-Pop shelf - and Tom Nook for $1.80 b/c we have AC;aF but only 3 amiibo. My kids have a few friends who need games like AC:aF to play.
@twztid13 @dickyword Hmm, I guess that does make some difference. Though not enough to skip it for that alone. STILL can’t make my mind up! 🙄
@rjejr
Aww. True points there.
I'm pretty much in the middle of nowhere, so it's never convenient to just pop over to a store. Gaming stores are a dying breed out here.
Only one I'm sure of is Gamestop.
Anyway, there might still be a chance for TRU. Just depends on if there's a reason to be near one.
@SethNintendo Really, he's a turtle? That's even better I actually collect turtles and I have turtle posters pictures and jigsaw puzzles all over my house. Well no eBay for him I guess. One ugly turtle.
@Mariotag Employees at TRU were saying doors close for good June 23rd I believe so you better find a reason right quick.
@leo13 Nice I'm going to grab this deal. The discount alone is half of Blossom Tales, and then I'll use the extra credit left over to go towards Mario Tennis. Thanks!
@rjejr I appreciate the heads up.
I finally grabbed splatoon 2 on that 33 percent off. And it's digital which is great since it's a quick, pick up and play kind of game. Feels so good to be back in the splatoon world
@twztid13 Thanks for the thorough share, much appreciated! I will probably grab this tonight after a get together, or in the morning. I had the original (my late grandma LOVED surprising me with the newest NES & GB games), and enjoyed it until I got stuck in a long canyon somehow with 10ish Metroid to go. My only complaint was the environment got repetitive but it WAS an early game. I look forward to trying this out.
Ubisoft just had a sale on Mario + Rabbids Gold for 30% off, now they have one for 50% off? damn it...
Where's the Wii U love??
Gorogoa and Golf Story for me.
I just preordered a bunch the other day, now i dont know if i should get zelda or mario or just wait....
@SethNintendo No, mostly sea turtles. I have a 4' long stuffed sea turtle my sister got me from TRU for Christmas about 20 years ago. It's basically a throw bearskin rug, only it's a sea turtle. The rest are mostly small knick knack tchotchkes from zoos and aquariums. Cap'n may actually be my first anthropomorphic turtle. Well I may have 1 riding a bicycle but it still just looks like a normal turtle.
Just checked the wiki, he's actually kind of cool, had I known all that I probably would have bought him for $5 instead of waiting until he was $3.
@1UP_MARIO feels embarrassed in the corner
Do you self a favour, and save some money by buying Hollow Night. It will keep you playing and enjoying it far longer than most of the sale titles. its a 10/10 for me.
@Maxz dont blame you re-read my original post I could of worded it better but you got a great price for zelda at launch making this sale laughable
There's some good games on sale, although, I just proved to myself the hard way that good things come to those that wait. I had been waiting FOREVER for Pac-Man Championship 2 Plus to go on sale, finally gave in, bought it last week... and it finally hit a sale THIS week. $10 I could have used on other backlog games... -_-
The Nintendo site doesn't include a list of the Wii U games in the sale for some reason
Wait! Did Nintendo announce this anywhere in the presentation? It's called the E3 sale for goodness sake! Would have thought they could mention it.
@1UP_MARIO It's mainly pretty uninspiring, but Splatoon 2 for £33.49 genuinely is good - especially considering you're getting so much more game now than you were at the full price launch. Golf Story's discount isn't huge, but might be welcome for those teetering. And then there's Astro Bears for 89p! Not a huge game by any margin, but I dig the concept, and the 80% discount is nothing to be sniffed at.
I was actually surprised there was anything notable at all, given Nintendo's usually tepid sales strategies, which is partly why my sarcasm detectors failed so badly. If I didn't already own Splatoon (and wasn't wedded to physical retail games), then I'd snap up Splatoon 2 in a heartbeat.
Man... there are a million games on sale in the US eShop, and like... seven in Japan. Most of those games are available in all regions, too. Apparently Nintendo of Japan just really hates discounts. I think I might have to buy the American version of BotW since it's about half the price of buying it in Japan.
@Marios-love-child I appreciate the answer!
Picked up Pac-Man and fe. Half off on both of these feels great
Splatoon 2 this weekend methinks, to help stave off this so-called "drought" some of the crybabies on here keep going on about...
Sadly Pac Man Championship and Rabbids aren’t on sale in the UK site and I can’t change region to buy them as I have credit that will disappear if I do.
@Nix_coppa I mean, both great games and very different. Each to their own I guess! Rabbids has a real love and understanding of that ‘Nintendo’ spark that their best games have, and the gameplay has huge depth. Bring on the DLC!
@HobbitGamer In my opinion it's pretty alright. I don't think it will wow you if you're a hardcore metroid fan (heck it didn't particularly wow me and I'm an ultra casual metroid fan). About a 6/10-7/10 in my book. Competent but not much else. Combat feels good but enemy designs, encounters, and bosses get repetitive. Music is mostly recycled from other metroid games. Also not much use for backtracking outside of powerups. Also the final boss fight of the game felt unnecessary
I would have bought Pac-Man Champions if it were on sale in Australia. The standard price of $30 is way too expensive for what it is, especially for a digital-only title that consumes over 2GB of precious storage.
I would have paid up to AU$60 if they had issued a physical release though.
@Oat oohhh. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet. That back tracking note is rough for me. I’m not hardcore, but I do love being like “I know what’s going on here, gonna come back to this screen later” Would you say Fusion or Zero Mission has more going on?
This sale was great! I finally got around to buying Splatoon 2 because of it, and I’ve been enjoying the game a lot.
The one game I have been waiting to see discounted on the European eShop still hasn't seen a decent discount in more than a year of availability. Puyo Puyo Tetris. That game has been overpriced since launch. I know the US eShop got it discounted to a decent price once or twice but it won't accept my master card or paypal account (region lock on payment methods, what a great invention!). That game shouldn't be sold for more than 20€ in my opinion.
Is Nintendo really that money hungry? I find it funny that even "big" sales like this that the prices are still Meh. Games that are released years ago barely get a discount. While all other platform stores offer weekly deals of triple-A games at up to 90% off. While on Nintendo the best you will get is an indie game no one wants for 5-10% off. Not to mention sales tax that no other market has to deal with.
@Brandles you're welcome. I'm not buying anything in the sale, but I snagged one of those 10% off cards anyway because I know I'll use it at some point
@HobbitGamer buy it, it is really good. The map is absolutely essential and wonderful to have on the second screen. I could not even imagine trying to play this game on the Gameboy with no map and having to map it out myself.
Just bought Splatoon 2, can't wait to play with my son. I'd imagine I'm a little rusty, haven't played the original in a good while.
@HobbitGamer I would say Zero Mission has more going on. Like Samus Returns is very linear, and linearity is not necessarily a bad thing but in this case it decreases the role of backtracking as you're more often than not moving on to the next area once you're done with the previous one with very little reason to return to past areas. There are a few moments in the game where it essentially forces you to go back to get a mandatory upgrade but past that the games guides you from area 1, to 2, and so on.
It's ironic for me because I actually liked the linearity of fusion but here in samus returns it feels a bit disappointing. Once again far from a bad game. It's just decent. Very little truly wowed or surprised me in Samus Returns
Earthbound is a steal at $6.99. The game usually go for $200 plus.
@Marios-love-child I agree with you about the club sides, yep.
@MartyFlanMJFan I picked it up myself, it feels good to play and is a definite step up from the original. Salmon Run is insane!
I also tried a few rounds of Turf War to level up, I was scoring higher than level 45 people with the bare minimum in no time. I like how you can remix the music whilst waiting for a match! Liking the single player mode too.
@WiltonRoots sounds great, looking forward to playing it myself this week!
@rjejr: I think Cap'n is supposed to be based on a Kappa from Japanese folklore, or something like that. If that's true, he is the second npc, that I know of, after Wisp, that is not based on an actual animal. As for eBay, the only real issue is the seller fees, even if an item doesn't sell. Sometimes they have free sales, where the seller fee is waived, unless the item sells.
