Re: Mailbox: 'Switch 2' Launch Ports, Soulslikes For Beginners, Poké Parks - Nintendo Life Letters

CaPPa

I've never got into the 'Souls' series, maybe because I originally played Demon Souls and it just didn't click with me. People seem to like the later Dark Souls entries and Elden Ring, but I imagine they have similar foundations.

I'd definitely be interested in a Cyberpunk 2077 port as I enjoyed it on PC but never found the time to completely finish it. Outside of that I'd like to see Nintendo continue an N64 revival, bringing back games like F-Zero and Pilotwings.

Re: Atari's First 'Sprint' Game In Three Decades Launches On Switch Next Month

CaPPa

I remember when the isometric racers were all the rage, led by Sprint and then followed by RC Pro Am and the Micromachines series. There's obviously been many more over the years (mainly indie titles) but most seem to lack the 'soul' or 'feel' of those titles.

This one looks a bit slow, but maybe it could be good. My favorite of the genre was Racing Destruction Kit on the C64, which was really slow and only 2 player, but the customizations were incredibly fun.

Definitely picking this up just for Rastan Saga. It was one of my go to arcade games (along with Robocop and Strider) that I could complete on a single credit. Of course it took many credits previously to get to that point of memorization and I'd probably struggle to get past the first level now, but the nostalgia is strong.

Re: Metroid Prime Remastered Confirmed For Switch, Launching Digitally Today

CaPPa

It looks great. I wonder what the gyro controls will be like though, as I generally prefer the Wii pointer over the Switch gyros.

Do I really want to buy a game that I already own 3 times (NGC, Wii Trilogy, Wii U digital)? I probably don't even have a choice, as soon as I pick up my Switch I'll likely have instinctively clicked in the eShop and already hit 'buy'.

Re: Gear Up For Doctor Who: The Edge Of Reality With Official Gameplay Footage

CaPPa

I enjoyed The Edge of Time in VR, it was a bit patchy in places but it had a pretty good Doctor Who feel to it. Now I know that the Edge of Reality is practically the same game but with an extra level or so and a little bit of David Tennant added in; but I want to get it anyway. I also know that it'll be a bit buggy on every system, so I'm just waiting to find out how it runs on the Switch before deciding on either on that (for portability) the PC (a few $'s cheaper) or Xbox.

Re: Random: Masahiro Sakurai Calls Cyberpunk 2077 A "Dream Game"

CaPPa

Its a great game, full of ambition, although it doesn't actually achieve all of that ambition.
There's no way it would run natively on the Switch, but it would be possible as a streamed game.

@Orpheus79V I believe that the PS5 just runs it in PS4 Pro mode anyway, so not a huge difference.

Re: Microsoft Has A "Very Good Relationship With Nintendo" But Isn't Making Any Promises Moving Forward

CaPPa

@Wexter
I think that there could be a shift coming with Xbox for the next gen, they are making all the right moves and the Series X is a much better designed system than the PS5. It'll still be a close race between them and Sony because they lack any stake in Japan; but the Switch releases may have helped a bit there.

I can't see Gamepass making it to the Switch now because like you say Nintendo wouldn't want it to undervalue their software, plus they are taking small steps with cloud based games.

Re: Review: No More Heroes - A Crude And Madcap Anime Nightmare That Deserves Your Attention

CaPPa

I see people saying they didn't like it on the Wii because of waggle fighting, but you actually used the A button to attack and just tilted the remote up or down for high or low attacks; so no waggle. The only real intense motions were for recharging your katana which involved an up and down movement that looked kind of dirty.

The sequel was better in many ways as it was more polished, but it removed the open world travel and jobs in favor of 2D minigames. Both games are great irreverent fun though and worth picking up.

Still looking forward to NMH3.

If Microsoft could get X-Cloud onto the Switch it could be a good way to convince people to get an Xbox and maybe break into the Japanese market too. Technically it's already possible to do if a Switch is running Android. I use Gamepass Ultimate on Xbox, PC and can access X-Cloud on virtually any Android device; it's good to have options.

I'd be happy with a port of Rare Replay even if it omitted the 360 games, although hopefully they could switch in the N64 version of Perfect Dark.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 25th)

CaPPa

This weekend I'm playing Doctor Who The Edge of Time and Sports Scramble on my Quest. Then I'm playing The Walking Dead Saints & Sinners and Hellsplit Arena on PCVR/Quest.

If I have any time or energy left I'll continue working at the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 expansions on the Switch.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Christmas? (Special Edition 2019)

CaPPa

The amount of games I'll have to play for the holidays is insane! I wont even have enough time off to play them all.

I'll be playing the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 X-Men dlc for the Switch on the 23rd. I just got Vacation Simulator and Real VR Fishing for the Quest so I'll be trying them out too.

I also renewed my Xbox Gamepass so theres a bunch of games on there I'll try, like Gears 5, My Friend Pedro, Outer Worlds etc.

I'm getting a new PC for Christmas though, so that will consume most of my time. So far I have Batman Arkham VR, Elite Dangerous, Star Trek Bridge Crew, Asgards Wrath, Doctor Who the Edge of Time, Arizona Sunshine, Disco Elysium and Age of Empires 2 to play. Doctor Who on Christmas Day ftw!
