@Ludovsky
Exactly. I know that the Switch is getting a ton of games released each week, but good titles are easily overlooked when people don't know that they are good.
Back in the Wii days the 'game' site IGN gave up reviewing WiiWare titles and just had a round up each week with a good/bad rating for each. Now that was because IGN were too lazy to review 3 or 4 games a week (let alone 20 something), but it could work for the mass of Switch releases each week.
Or maybe a seperate readers reviews section (not just forum posts) where we could put short reviews of games that the site isn't reviewing.
@Captain_Gonru No EA are lazy. Matchmaking has been possible on any system since online play started and other devs manage fine on the Switch. If a dev like Shinen can do it with a team of about 5 guys, then there's no reason EA couldn't with their vast resources.
The other modes weren't left out because they were impossible on Switch, again it was just EA were lazy. They didn't even say it was due to technical difficulties, just that having too many modes would be overwhelming for Switch owners (like we've never played games before) so they kept it bare bones so as not to confuse us.
The truth is that they rushed '18 out with as little effort as possible and now that it has proved to be a viable seller they are putting a little bit more effort in.
I would love DOA6 to come to the Switch. Dimensions was fantastic on the 3DS and turned out to be one of the best games in the series. DOA5 was a big disappointment because of all the pricey DLC, so hopefully 6 won't go that route too.
Im a little worried about the 'looks and feels like the PS4/XBO' part, because I actually prefer the feel of the Switch version. The PS4/XBO games are a bit on the slow side for me.
I guess ill gamble and trade in '18 before '19 releases.
2010 was the best show for me. Nintendo came out swinging with Skyward Sword and just carried on from there. Metroid, Kirby, Resident Evil, Star Fox, Smash Bros, Mario, the games just kept on coming. They were firing them out everywhere, then boom here's Goldeneye, boooom Donkey Kong Country Returns, boooom Kid Icarus Uprising. Oh and then finish off with 3DS demo units brought out right there and then attached to models. All told I think there was over 50 games shown for Wii and 3DS.
Nintendo didn't just 'win' e3 that year, they completely dominated it
I like my Xbox, but it's mainly for backwards compatibility and multiplatform games.
The war between Sony and Microsoft was over before it even started this gen. MS droned on about always online connectivity, Sony just threw out a few buzz words and that was it.
I always preferred PES over FIFA as it played faster and seemed less scripted.
My favorites were ISS64, as it had no 'special moves' so any skills were of your own invention (I used to do a flick up, spin and volley move that was really cool). Then PES on the Wii brought in a fantastic strategy element with off the ball runs and a real control of the team.
Since then it's been restricted to PS/Xbox (skipping the Wii U that could have been a source for another innovation) and degenerated into more of a FIFA clone. Where as it used to have the better gameplay despite lacking licenses it now has neither.
@rjejr The parental control app let's you monitor game usage and set time limits; so that could be useful for you. Unfortunately it doesn't let you control the different accounts yet though.
I was excited for this back when it was supposed to be coming to the Wii U. Unfortunately it didn't seem to turn out too good going by reviews/comments on PC.
Lego City Undercover is my favorite Lego game. Aside from that I liked Star Wars and a couple of the superhero games were ok. I wouldn't pay full price for one though.
Everyone saying they want Skyward Sword with traditional controls, well they may as well just make a new game as many of the dungeons/enemies are based on motion attacks. To change them to analogue would either mean totally reworking the dungeons/enemies or just automating the attacks, which would remove the puzzle elements completely and make it more like a basic version of Hyrule Warriors. If it was dumbed down like that then I'd definitely pass on it.
I just hope to see Fire Emblem, a look at MP4 and a glimpse of Bayonetta 3. Everything else is a bonus.
@Pazzo-ZaFool I don't think that review scores work like that, they don't start at 10 and then take points off, neither do they start at 1 and add points on. It's just an arbitrary number that the reviewer thinks the game is worth.
42%, 23%, 7%. Given that the 42% and 23% are made up from about 7 or 8 games and the 7% is pretty much from 1 game I'd say that the return from the Switch was probably higher than the return from PS4/XBO.
Yoshi's Flipping Island is hilarious. If that was the title I'd have to buy it for that alone.
The list isn't so bad, except for F Zero as Nintendo have said it is a dead franchise and I don't think that Platinum have ever made a racing game. The poor formatting, spelling mistakes and lack of Bayonetta 3 make it an instant fail though.
@YummyHappyPills I get the Western 3rd party concerns. I expect the usual late rushed ports that nobody wants, that are lacking features and priced too high. Then when they don't sell they'll say that their games just don't sell on Nintendo systems.
Luckily for me I'm not too concerned about Western games as there isn't much released nowadays that interests me. Red Dead Redemption 2 and Spiderman are the only Western games on my radar; everything else seems to be battle royale based or just dull. I'm hoping that the Avengers game makes an appearance though and is something good. I don't expect many surprises from Sony but any games at all would be a surprise from Microsoft right now.
Maybe we'll get lucky and get a couple of decent Switch 3rd party exclusives, something like Mario + Rabbids. Bethesda have been a good supporter so maybe we'll see something new from them.
My most wanted Switch games are Bayonetta 3, Metroid Prime 4 and Fire Emblem; so as long as they are shown (or dated) then I'm good and anything else is a bonus.
@YummyHappyPills 3rd party support should be improving as the Switch has proved to be a success. A year isn't long in a life cycle, the XBO/PS4 were full of old ports at the same point and only started getting new games in their second years.
Nintendo always has the potential to surprise as they often have shorter reveal/release times for all except the biggest titles (Zelda, Mario, Metroid). A game can be unknown but release 6 months to a year after the reveal, unlike Sony who get hype by announcing games that won't release until about 4 years later.
Its good to keep expectations low as to not be disappointed, but I wouldn't write it off just yet.
I used to love these books. I had The Warlock of Firetop Mountain, The Citadel of Chaos, The Forest of Doom, City of Thieves, Deathtrap Dungeon and Island of the Lizard King.
I think I'll pick this up on the Switch just for the nostalgia.
When this first released I was hoping it would be like 'Barry McGuigan World Championship Boxing' which was a great 8 bit boxing game. Sadly it wasn't even close.
Given the choice between paying $20 or $50 and getting either a couple of NES games to play or some current/last gen games I'd probably go for the $20 option. I have lots of games on the XBO from the Gold service but I could count the number I actually bother playing on one hand. Even less so on PS+ as we don't even bother downloading them (as PS4 storage sucked). All those services do is stop me buying Indies (as they'll probably be 'free' In a couple of months).
Discounts are an advantage of a subscription (although I've been stung on Xbox buying games that were then given away 'free' the next week). Nintendo mentioned discounts but didn't go into any detail, but if the Nintendo Online service gave a discount on buying any game or even just increased sale percentages (like XBO) then that would make it worth it alone.
As for no VC, well it sucks. Makes the Wii U worth owning though.
This weekend I have lots to play with boughts on Football Manager, Hyper Sentinel, Manticore, Bad Dudes and Arcade Pinball. Plus will build another Labo project with the kids.
My May is fairly packed with Football Manager and Manticore bought so far. Then the Street 30th Anniversary Collection, Hyper Sentinel and the Framed Collection round out the month.
As for all the Wii U talk, it didn't sell well but I loved mine. The GamePad was awesome and it saw a lot more play time than the XBO/PS4 due to the more fun family friendly games (the kids are still playing Super Mario 3D World and Mario Kart 8). The complete Wii backwards compatibility and huge Wii/Wii U virtual console library made it a console that was like a compendium of the best Nintendo games. All of that makes it one of my favorite systems that I've owned.
Capcoms output has been sketchy to say the least, putting out pricey ports of old games while the other systems get the new ones.
At least they have some proof that the Switch can be profitable now and they do have a few good releases coming up like the Street Fighter collection and Okami.
Andrew Braybrook was awesome in the 80s and his games were fantastic. I actually preferred his previous game Paradroid (one of my favorite games of all time) as it had a slower paced more methodical approach, but Uridium was an all out shooter and one of the best around.
I didn't know that Hyper Sentinel was a spiritual successor to Uridium but now it's a must buy for me.
This weekend I'm continuing to feed my Football Manager addiction. I'm going for back to back promotion, which will be quite incredible as I've only had a 300k budget.

Games that deserve more chatter. Will they also deserve reviews? That generally creates more chatter.

F-Zero
Star Fox
I expect to see
Smash Bros
Pokemon Lets Go
Splatoon 2
Captain Toad
Mario Tennis Aces
Re: The Splatoon 2 News That Was Set To "Shock The World" Seems To Have Arrived
Spys? Maybe Goldeneye themed levels in a Splatoon style, that would be pretty shocking.

42%, 23%, 7%. Given that the 42% and 23% are made up from about 7 or 8 games and the 7% is pretty much from 1 game I'd say that the return from the Switch was probably higher than the return from PS4/XBO.
