If you get to keep the NES games even if your subscription ends then its worth it just for those. Not so much for me as I already own most of them on Wii/Wii U/3DS, but I guess its not much different to paying the Wii/Wii U transfer charges.
I'm not happy about voice chat still being tied to a phone app. It's a neat idea if you have a group of people with phones as you don't need a bunch of wireless headsets; but it's not so good if people don't have a phone. If they could make both headsets and phones work together then it would be great, but as it is its useless.
@moltakfire I'd rather get the original as I'm not confident in the changes that they are making to the remake. Maybe if this one does well they'll bring that too though.
The line up of games is pretty fantastic, especially as I've only played FF 1 through to 8 and then 13; so there is pretty much every FF game that I haven't played here.
@UmbreonsPapa My kids seem to like the new Danger Mouse show. It was jarring for me though because of having different voice actors.
This week I'm picking up Warlock of Fitetop Mountain, Senran Kaguri and maybe Surgeon Simulator. Xenoblade is on my wishlist because there's too many games and not enough time to play them at the moment now.
The visuals don't give a scary feel but maybe the story will.
I wish that Nintendo would port over the Fatal Frame series. They are the only games (along with some Silent Hill) that really scratches my horror itch.
@BladedKnight I own all 3 systems and they all have different strengths. There isn't a one to rule them all for me.
It sounded like a negative though when you stated that the best games were on other consoles and that there was only 2 notable games and some old ports on Switch. While 3rd party sucks for the most part, the Switch does have 3 high profile family friendly exclusives releasing over the holidays. So my point was there's a bit of something for everyone somewhere and there's no need to try and put another system down (or its owners) because it doesn't have whatever game it is that floats their boat.
@BladedKnight Why do people combine PS4 and Xbox games to combat Nintendo ones? It's obvious that 2 consoles combined will likely have more games than 1.
Spiderman is our first and last PS4 game of the year. I'll be getting RDR2 for the Xbox and maybe A.C. Odyssey (although I've hated A.C. games so far). Aside from those I'm getting Starlink, Pokemon and Smash for the Switch. So there's no imbalance in games for me.
@Syntaxkita I would imagine that many Switch owners have a PC too, so unless it's double dipping just for portability I doubt that would be a big factor in Switch/PS4 indie sales.
The biggest reason for me not to buy Indies on PS4/Xbox is because of the subscription Plus/Gold services. Why buy a game when it'll probably be 'free' in a couple of months. The Switch doesn't have that, so I'm more likely to buy an indie game for it (unless its already been a 'free') and not feel like I'm wasting my money.
I wonder how well the Sony/Microsoft Plus/Gold fees pay Indies. There's lots of games that I would have bought but didn't because they were 'free', so it would be interesting to know how much money they actually gain or lose by putting their games on there. An example is Prison Architect, I was interested in it but they gave it out for 'free' on Gold this month so they lost my sale.
I'm a big fan of the Trauma series on DS and Wii so I was hoping that this game would scratch that itch.
The motion controls look a bit clumsy though, like its more of a chaotic fumble than a game featuring precision surgery. I still might pick it up if it gets decent reviews.
When Sony revealed the PS4 they used the slogan 'the best place to play' and everybody cheered because they weren't like the oppressive Microsoft. 5 years on and they're still blurting it out.
The reality is that there was little difference between the PS4 or Xbox One, but Sony capitalised on Microsoft's poor launch and gained an unassailable lead. Now after the dust had settled it appears that Microsoft wasn't that oppressive after all and that Sony the self proclaimed people's champion is in fact the one that is now restricting players choice.
I never bought into Sony's Cool-Aid, I've heard too many 'emotion engine' and '4D graphics' hyperbole to know that they are a company that spouts senseless buzz words instead of anything of substance.
We did buy a PS4 though, but its rarely used except for the odd exclusive (Spiderman this month). We buy all multiplats on Xbox because the network is better and everything else on the Switch. So I've found PlayStation to be the place we've played the least. With more games getting PS4/Switch releases and the superior performance of the Xbox One X, I don't see that changing much now either.
Nintendo have thrown Ubisoft a bone with Mario + Rabbids Kingdom and now with Star Link/Fox; so how about Ubisoft giving a bit of love back and release something bigger than 'Uno'?
@Danrenfroe2016 I would guess that the pedal uses an accelerometer and the wheel uses a combination of accellerometer and IR camera. The control method should be accurate enough but would be awkward without the physical housing (pedal).
@NoxAeturnus For something this complex I think that I'd want the build instructions too, so it's just easier to buy the kit. For longevity I'd like to use something else instead of cardboard.
This is pretty great. I might buy it along with MK8DX, along as theyre useable in multiplayer.
@JayJ $70 is pretty high (it's $100 for me), but we already own a bunch of joycons so I could simply make more wheels and pedals myself once I have the templates.
@NaviAndMii That's what I thought, Oddjob was always at an easy headshot height. The other disadvantage with Oddjob was that he wasn't tall enough to see or shoot through the windows on doors etc.
I used to use Natalia because I figured that she was a harder target due to being skinny.
@adam9431 Canadians always seem to get screwed on deals. Pricing never seems to match the exchange rate either, even when it was basically a $1:1 rate prices didnt change.
This seems more of a statement of Ubisofts lack of ability more than the Switchs technical shortcomings. That's nothing new as Ubisoft games often show ambition that they can't technically achieve.
If they couldn't get Siege to run then just port Raven Shield or Vegas. They are arguably better games anyway.
The list seems ok, I'd probably have put Super Metroid in first though.
My favorite Metroid games, not necessarily the best but how much I enjoyed them at the time. 1. Metroid Prime 3 Corruption 2. Metroid Other M 3. Metroid Fusion 4. Super Metroid 5. Metroid Prime
There's practically a game a month (or more) for me. August - Okami, Monster Hunter Generations September - Dragon ball Fighterz, Xenoblade 2 October - Starlink November - Pokemon Lets Go December - Smash Bros Ultimate
This actually looks interesting. I think that most Lego games are fun but I usually only pick them up when they are $20 or less. If it was releasing in a quiet time then id be more likely to buy it, but the end of the year is really busy, I already have Spiderman, Red Dead Redemption 2, Pokemon Lets Go, Starlink and Smash Ultimate preordered; so this game just might have to wait a while.
Itll be a choice between Switch and 3DS; with the Switch she has to be supervised, whereas she can play the 3DS/2DS on her own. I guess I'll see how it performs first and then decide.
@animefan923 I didn't get the Japanese one as I figured I'd be almost as lost as Alex was, but they said the localized one would release in the summer so hopefully it's not too far away.
I want it because it is odd and quite unlike anything else on the Switch, like a curio. It's the same reason I bought that Japanese model phone game (plus it was cheap), but I hope this one at least has English menus.
@1UP_MARIO 6 months wasnt good as the games were divided between the 2 consoles. It's ok now but the point is that it took 7 months for external support on the Xbox One and over 4 years for it to come to the PS4. That's why we stopped buying multiplats on PS4 after the first year. The Switch had storage support right from the start, I bought a 128gb card for $40. There's also the fact that all physical media is installed on those systems but not on the Switch.
Just imagine how much bigger that 5% could have been if the Switch had Far Cry 5 and Assassins Creed; along with last year's Ghost Recon, Assassin's Creed etc.
@thesilverbrick Sony and Microsoft certainly do not ship their consoles with enough storage. 500GB sounds like a lot but with mandatory installs it disappears fast, our PS4 and Xbox One were maxed out within 6 months after just a few games. Even worse was there was no alternative storage solutions, so we had to delete games before we could play any new ones.
Luckily our Switch never had such problems as storage was available from day one.
I've only seen maybe 2 or 3 of the Pokemon movies but I actually own Mewtwo Strikes Back. I bought an imported DVD because it released in the US before it even got to theatres in the UK.
@roy130390 Yes sadly they are a staple of many action/adventure/RPGs. Back when Resident Evil released I had to run through the 2nd mansion section with my eyes shut as I couldn't handle the tarantulas, same with the spider boss, although I still managed to finish the game with a bit of luck and timing.
I wish that Nintendo would revamp their parental controls so that it would just block games on the kids accounts and not all accounts. I just want my account to have a single password when switched to it and not have to enter it for every single mature rated game.
I'd like to be interested in this game but I'm pretty sure it has some form of giant spiders in it which doesn't mesh well with my arachnaphobia.
It's a problem that I have with most games of this ilk. Given that phobias of spiders or snakes are fairly common I don't know why they don't offer alternatives (But only PC allows such things).
Starlink went from something that Id consider when it was in the bargain bin to a must have that I've preordered all because of the Star Fox addition. So I guess that Ubisoft can thank Reggie for the sale.

Re: The Capcom Beat ’Em Up Bundle Will Tickle Your Side-Scrolling Fighter Itch
I love Final Fight but I don't really know much about the other games. It seems like good value though.
It would be nice if Konami did something similar, but I'd settle for Hamster just bringing Gradius at some point.
Re: Nintendo Reveals Upcoming NES Game Releases For Switch Online Service

They said you can 'play them anywhere' in the direct, so I'd think that would mean offline too.

Re: Nintendo Spends Big On Television Advertising In Month Of August To Fend Off Spider-Man
Spiderman is undoubtedly a good game, not quite Batman Arkham good, but definitely the best Spiderman game since Spiderman 2.
Nintendo's heavy hitters don't release until the holidays so Spiderman shouldn't effect them much.

It was given away as a 'free' Xbox gold game this month though, so now there's no point me paying for it.
Re: Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 Design Director Laughs Off Question About Switch Release
I do a prolonged laugh too when someone suggests buying a COD game.
The series has had its heyday and its time for Activision to take a break rather than grind it into the dust like they did with Guitar Hero.
