Re: Dead Or Alive Xtreme 3: Scarlet Is Splashing Onto The Switch Early Next Year

CaPPa

Dimensions was the DOA high point for me, it had the fluid style of DOA2 and a ton of free content. DOA5 would have been ok if it wasn't such a cash grab that put everything behind a $2000+ paywall.

DOA is my favorite fighting series and I hope that DOA6 is good, but Ill skip it if its another microtransaction battle. With that all in mind Id actually rather they make a Dimensions 2 style game for the Switch based on the DOA5 engine.

As for Xtreme 3, I owned one of the previous games on Xbox which cost me $2 from the bargin bin. Thats about all that id pay for this one too.

Re: Review: Saboteur! - A Well-Intentioned Nostalgia Trip That Fails To Get Pulses Racing

CaPPa

I always thought Saboteur was over hyped and the end product was decidedly average. So it's not surprising an old average game hasn't aged well.

Id rather see games like Navy Seals, The Great Escape, Platoon or Into the Eagles Nest revisited.

On a random note, I have memories of a c64 game that involved an army boot camp and obstacle courses that I think may have been Full Metal Jacket. Anyone remember that game?

They won't pay it all. A court judgement means that it becomes a debt, so their wages would be garnished, their assets taken and then they will probably declare bankruptcy. It"ll be at least 7 years before they can be free of it and then they'll have to start rebuilding their credit.

It shows that there can be serious consequences for piracy.

@Royalblues
I own all 3 systems and I don't find that it's a case of nothing else on the Switch or that there's simply mountains of great games elsewhere. The PS is actually the one that we have the least amount of games for (only bought Spiderman this year) because we get multiplats on Xbox or Switch.

Re: Indie Devs Explain Why Their Games Are Successful On Nintendo Switch

CaPPa

I didn't buy Indies until I got the Switch.

1. A lot play/feel better on the portable screen.
2. 4K or HDR are not used/needed, so they are fine on the 1080p docked Switch.
3. Indies hold no value on Xbox/PS.

I never bought Indies on Xbox/PS because the thought is that they'll just be 'free' on the subscription services the next month. That doesn't happen on the Switch, so it makes them seem like a more worthwhile purchase.

Usually whenever I buy a game it'll go on sale the next week. I told my buddy if there is a game that he wants then just wait for me to buy it and then it'll be 50% off within a couple of weeks. It's the same on Xbox, if I buy a game it'll probably be a 'free with Gold' offering the next month. It really does seem that they only go on sale after I buy them too.

Re: Review: LEGO DC Super-Villains - Proof That It's Good To Be Bad

CaPPa

I like the Lego games but I usually wouldn't pay more than $20 for them.

Lego City Undercover ($60)
Lego City The Chase Begins ($20)
Lego Movie ($15)
Lego Batman 2 ($20)
Lego Batman 3 ($15)
Lego Marvel Superheroes ($20)
Lego Star Wars Saga ($20)
Lego Star Wars 3 ($10)
Lego The Force Awakens ($40)
Lego Indiana Jones (Free)

I'll likely pick up DC Supervillains for the Switch when it drops down in that range.

Isnt Nintendo actually ahead at the moment? They have 2 AAA games streaming already and the Switch is currently the only h.265 compliant console, so they seem perfectly set for the streaming future (which seems to be going to happen whether we want it or not). If Ubisoft etc continue to push games this way and eventually take it to the other consoles then the Switch's lack of power becomes a non issue.

I don't see a problem with games being streamed to the Switch (in Japan) if they are titles that otherwise wouldn't be on the system. As for not having ownership of the games, I'd just think of it as a rental, if you want to own a physical copy then just buy it for PS4/XBO.

If streaming becomes mainstream (although I don't think that internet services are anywhere near ready) then the Switch could be the only system that would be guaranteed to get physical/digital games simply because of its portable aspect.

Re: Review: Starlink: Battle For Atlas - A Shining Example Of Open World Star Fox Done Right

CaPPa

I picked up the physical version from Wal-Mart as it was $79 compared to $80 for the standard digital.

I thought that you'd have to register the toys before playing and then theyd last 7 days; but you dont have to at all as it gives the option for digital when you start. I haven't even taken them out of the box yet, although the Arwing does look cool.

Im only an hour in but the game itself seems pretty good. I especially like the space combat with the ships having jet trails, as it makes them easier to see.

Re: Starlink: Battle For Atlas Physical Release Will Require A 6GB Day One Update

CaPPa

I miss the days when a game was actually complete when you bought it. I guess Nintendo had to catch up with the times though, as incomplete games has been commonplace on MS/Sony consoles for a long time, sometimes they don't work at all without an update.

As for the storage issue, It doesn't really matter if a console has 32gb or 1tb; you either have to delete games or buy extra storage anyway. My Xbox One X is 1tb and I'm having to delete games so that I can fit RDR2 (over 100gb so far without the multiplayer) on it.

CaPPa

@BlueOcean
I'd like to know the logic behind discounting a game on one platform (Xbox/PS) at the same time as releasing it on another (Switch). Why would they damage their own sales for the Switch? It seems to happen quite often, sometimes they are even given as a 'free' monthly game just as they are being released at full price on the Switch. It must be either on the belief that people only own one system or that they can resell the game purely on the strength of portability.

It's stopped me buying several games and I wonder how much the profit/loss would be from Xbox/PS sales/free games compared to potential lost future Switch sales.

I wouldn't buy Child of Light anyway as I already own it for the Wii U, but the Gold/Plus schemes have definetely been a factor this gen.

@jhewitt3476
My PS3 was fine until Sony released an update and my wifi failed, which made the update freeze so that it never completed. I couldnt restore the system and Sony then wanted $140 to fix the issue. I refused and so my PS3 remains dead.

Around the same time my launch day Wii stopped working and Nintendo had it repaired and returned to me within 4 days for free.

Aside from the cost involved, the level of customer service was like night and day. Nintendo was friendly and helpful; whilst Sony had more of a 'thats tough luck' attitude.

Re: Hamster Adding Even More Games To The Arcade Archives On Switch

CaPPa

When I saw the picture with Bub and Bob I thought that we was going to get Bubble Bobble.

It's great that Hamster keeps putting out games, but along with the aforementioned Bubble Bobble I really want Gradius, Salamander, Rampage, R-Type and Rastan.

Out of the games announced I'd get Ikari Warriors, but I might just get it in the SNK collection instead.
