The folks over at Digital Foundry have taken a look at Panic Button’s latest Switch conversion, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. While it doesn’t take the crown as the best version of the game, the engineers behind the “impossible port” have still done a sound job recreating the experience with no sacrifices in terms of level design and every gameplay sequence intact.

For most parts, the Switch version runs at a steady 30fps in both the docked and handheld mode, with a few performance wobbles from time to time. The resolution in docked mode ranged from a top end of 720p to 1216x684 to 540p and 432p, all the way down to 640x360. In portable mode, the average resolution remains lower but the game still manages to feel satisfying. Despite the compromises, Digital Foundry considers the Switch release to be quite the technical feat.

Take a look at the 24-minute video analysis above, and tell us in the comments if you’ve been enjoying the game.
