Re: Nintendo, Sony And Microsoft All Under Investigation Over Online Gaming Services

CaPPa

It used to be a pain to cancel recurring billing on Xbox Live because you couldn't do it from the console and had to use a PC. Now I believe that you can also access it from the Xbox.

I'm not sure about PSN as I haven't used it for a couple of years now and there was no way that I'd put my details on their network after all their security issues.

Nintendo network is easy to cancel the auto renew as it's simply a checkbox.

Re: Review: Darksiders: Warmastered Edition - The End Of The World Comes To Nintendo Switch

CaPPa

@ThanosReXXX
My Wii U still gets regular play alongside my Switch and Xbox One X. I could never get rid of it either as my VC library across the Wii/Wii U is massive.

I have Darksiders on the Xbox 360 and I thought it was ok. It doesnt quite hit the heights of the games that it draws inspiration from but it's certainly worth a play. Not quite enough for me to double dip on it though.

Re: Review: Xenon Racer - A Spluttering Speed-Fest That Lags Well Behind Its PS4 And Xbox One Siblings

CaPPa

@TheFox
I think its mostly due to laziness. Back in the 8 bit days devs would have to perform magic to get games working on much weaker hardware. Now it seems like they just slap the code onto whatever and be done with it.

Other than some really huge games (like RDR2) I dont feel that there are many games from the PS4/XBO gen that couldn't have been achieved in the PS3/360 gen.

Re: 3DClouds Responds To Criticism Of The Switch Version Of Xenon Racer

CaPPa

@Agramonte
I'm all for cheaper versions of games that cant reach parity with the PS4/XBO versions, or even customized Switch versions (like Konami did with PES on the Wii).

This game has no excuse though. It's not pushing the hardware at all and the PS4 version looks like it should be the Switch version, so its poor on all platforms. Those 'no graphics' budget indies look better than this.

Re: Random: Sony's PS4 State Of Play Presentation Made 'Nintendo Direct' Trend On Twitter

CaPPa

The format is definitely a good idea and helps keep customers informed throughout the year.

It seemed strange that they wouldn't plug Days Gone in the State of Play seeing as it releases next month. Going forward they should use it to highlight the big upcoming games (Ghosts, TLOU2, Death Stranding) and fill the rest of the time with smaller or VR games.

I'm not sure how Sony will do going into the next gen. They've had an easy ride with the PS4 but with streaming networks looming and diminishing returns with tech they could have a harder time with the PS5 (outside of the UK).

Re: Video: Get Your First Look At The Nintendo Labo VR Kit

CaPPa

@rjejr
I think that it's an elephant just because of how the control scheme works. You have to hold the unit to your face and use a joycon in front of it. When they tethered it on there I guess they just thought it looked like an elephant, I can't see any other reason.

The Labo VR kits look great and the kids are going to have a blast with these.

Re: Anniversary: Pokémon Snap Turns 20 Years Old Today

CaPPa

The 3DS AR seemed perfect for a Pokemon Snap sequel, as did the Wii U GamePad, but nothing ever came of either. Instead they brought Pokemon Go.

Now the Labo VR with the camera attachment again looks perfect, but again there's no Snap. Maybe we'll be surprised at E3 with an eShop game with additional VR compatibility.

Re: Talking Point: What Does Google's Stadia Mean For Nintendo And The Future Of Gaming?

CaPPa

I dont think that a streaming service will be much of a threat to Nintendo. People buy the Switch either for the 1st party games or the portability; neither of which can be achieved by streaming. If anything if these services are offered on the Switch then it could be an even more appealing platform as it would have the great Nintendo exclusives and be able to stream the big 3rd party games.

Microsoft and Sony could be in more trouble, although Microsoft have already been touting XBL and Gamepass which will likely be in a streaming form.

Re: Konami Releasing Anniversary Collection Series On Nintendo Switch

CaPPa

I've been bemoaning Konami for years about not bringing their classic games, so I'm super excited for these. The arcade Gradius series are my all-time favorite shmups, so it'll be a day one purchase.

It seems a little odd not to have Haunted Castle in the Castlevania collection though, as even though it wasn't branded as such in the west it is really a Castlevania arcade game. Still I'm going to get both collections anyway (probably skip Contra though), so it doesn't matter.

Re: Review: Motorsport Manager For Nintendo Switch - A Winning Formula For F1 Fans

CaPPa

This looked interesting to me when it appeared on the eShop even though I'm not a big F1 fan. I'll likely wait for a sale though as I dont have the time to sink into it.

About price parity, it depends on how the mobile version is structured. For example I'd rather pay more for a version of a game that doesn't have lots of microtransactions over a free one with lots of $ unlocks.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 16th)

CaPPa

To ride me over until The Black Order releases I picked up Marvel Ultimate Alliance on the Wii, as it's not available on Xbox/PS anymore and it was only $5.

The kids have been into Yugioh this weekend, so we have been playing Legacy of the Duelist on Xbox One.

If I have any time left I'll try and squeeze in a bit of Final Fantasy IX.

Re: Nintendo Download: 14th March (North America)

CaPPa

I'll probably pick Rico up when it's on sale as my current backlog is too big right now. I'm tempted to get Ikari Warriors though, I played through the C64 version recently and having a portable arcade version would be pretty cool.

Re: Australian Ratings Board Suggests A Multi-Platform 'Castlevania Anniversary Collection' Is On The Way

CaPPa

Between the Wii/U, 3DS and Xbox One I think that I already own most of the Castlevania games. I skew towards the old style games, with SCIV being my favourite in the series. If the collection features a complete range from NES to Arcade to PS3 then I would definitely buy it, otherwise probably not.

What I'd really like from Konami is an arcade perfect Gradius collection on the Switch, but that will never happen.

Re: Soapbox: It's Time To Admit That F-Zero X Is The Best F-Zero

CaPPa

F-Zero X is my favorite of the series. The original felt fast and had great controls, it felt really good sliding around the corners ; but X just upped the stakes in every way. Faster, 30 racers and tracks that looped and swerved every which way.

Now GX is obviously technically superior, but it didnt click with me like the previous games did. I think Nintendo games usually nail the feel of the controls and GX just didnt completely have that for me, it felt like 90% there, whether it be because of the game or the NGC controller.

Re: Anniversary: Nintendo Switch Launched Two Years Ago Today

CaPPa

I didn't buy a Switch at launch as there wasn't enough games (got BOTW on the Wii U) but I picked it up 6 months later for Mario Odyssey. Now I use my Xbox One X for 4K movies and the big 3rd party releases; while the Switch provides me awesome gaming on the go and lots of family fun Its a great combination.

The Switch has been a good purchase and Ive bought more games for it in a year and a half than I have in 4 years on the PS4/XBO.
With games like Bayonetta 3 and Metroid Prime 4 ahead the next couple of years should be just as good.

Re: Feature: What Developers Really Think Of The Nintendo Switch eShop

CaPPa

I'd like it to have the Wii U/3DS style tabs on the main page to take you to certain content. I just found those eShops much more friendly feeling than other stores.

The eShop works ok for me though, I check New Releases, Great Deals, Coming Soon and the Featured games each week and I'm more likely to notice indie games on there than I am on the Xbox store.

Re: Talking Point: Capcom’s Resident Evil Switch Pricing Is Nothing New

CaPPa

I thought they released these for $20 each on the PS3/360 and now they're are charging $40 on the Switch. That isn't a Switch tax, its daylight robbery. They'll likely just be the same upscaled HD versions, which I thought looked a bit weird because of some of the lower quality assets. I'm doubtful that they'll even patch in motion controls either as support was a bit sketchy on the HD releases.

I'll likely be sticking with my Wii copies, as I think RE4 in particular is the definitive version.

Re: Devil May Cry 5 Director And Producer Would "Love" To Play The Series On Switch

CaPPa

@Gs69
As both were made by Hideki Kamiya it's not surprising that DmC and Bayonetta are similar.

There's no chance of DmC5 because it's made with the engine that RE7 and RE2 remake (the original another Kamiya game) used; so it would have to be retooled or streamed to be on the Switch. Ports of DmC 1 - 4 would seem a bit pointless, as the aforementioned Bayonetta has superseded them. I'm much more excited for Bayonetta 3 than DmC5.

So far Capcom is just throwing it's old catalog at the Switch to make easy money. I bought the Street Fighter collection and Okami but I'm not buying any more (unless it's a PS1 or arcade Strider port).
