Re: Soapbox: Can You Really 'Spoil' A Mario Game?

Burning_Spear

@TheBigK Agree with wanting to play it as blindly as possible. It goes to the nostalgia of playing NES games back in the day. Many games were purchased based on the box art or an ad in a magazine. And so when I played the game it was all a complete surprise. I'm still chasing that experience!

I don't know about spoiling, though @bigpale presented a good example with New Donk City's extravaganza, but I'd rather encounter all the goodies the first time myself and experiment with how they work. Part of the fun for me is experiencing how different power-ups can be deployed or how to beat certain enemies. So I will avoid any further Wonder trailers.

Re: Internal Xbox Email Details Desire To Acquire Nintendo

"It's just taking a long time for Nintendo to see that their future exists off of their own hardware."

What an arrogant statement. Why is it taking so long for them to come around to MY way of thinking? Nintendo has done just fine as its own company, as evidenced by its huge cash reserve. XBox would be out of business without big daddy Microsoft's huge cash reserve.

Re: F-ZERO 99 Turns The Classic Racer Into A 99-Player Battle Royale, On NSO Today

@Supaguy And whenever Nintendo does get around to releasing a new F-Zero, the same folks will complain about the track selection, customization, graphics, price ... whatever. There are people who are still asking for more characters for Smash Ultimate, for crying out loud. Reggie Fils-Aime once called Nintendo fans "insatiable" in a remark he presented as praise but, in that it was responding to a matter of this type, clearly demonstrated an irritation with a good many gamers never being pleased with what they get.

Checking in the morning after, I'm sorry to say I'm not surprised at the reaction to this. Some folks are happy to get something new to play as a free toss-in to their subscription, and it seems an equal amount prefer to complain about it not being the precise thing they wanted. It must really be awful to work for Nintendo: great games, poor games, free games ... they all get the same negative response.

Re: Dolphin Emulator Steam Release "Indefinitely Postponed"

Burning_Spear

@GamerDad66 I don't expect Valve to fight this with vigor. Nintendo has kind of looked the other way at the Steam Deck being used as an emulator for all Nintendo systems but in this case is saying, "Now you've gone too far. Get back on your side of the imaginary line and we can all go back to making money. If not, this is just a small taste of what will happen."

It's kind of like tolerating the neighbor parking his car in front of your house once in a while, but then when it becomes two cars you say enough is enough.

Re: Nintendo Wins Court Dispute Against Pirated Game Hosting Site

@GrailUK It seems like there's a thought that Nintendo could just grab a couple of junior developers, lock them in a room for a few weeks, and have all these games suddenly available for everyone and operating perfectly on current-gen hardware. I can't see it being worth the time for all but a small number of games. Go back to the Wii era, when there were hundreds of retro games available for purchase on the Virtual Console. Complainers far outnumbered those who were pleased. People cried about the cost of the games, the pace at which they were released, the games that were missing from the service, and the fact that there was no online play. And they're supposed to do something bigger and better than what the Wii had ... in every generation?
