Re: Dolphin Emulator Steam Release "Indefinitely Postponed"

@GamerDad66 I don't expect Valve to fight this with vigor. Nintendo has kind of looked the other way at the Steam Deck being used as an emulator for all Nintendo systems but in this case is saying, "Now you've gone too far. Get back on your side of the imaginary line and we can all go back to making money. If not, this is just a small taste of what will happen."

It's kind of like tolerating the neighbor parking his car in front of your house once in a while, but then when it becomes two cars you say enough is enough.

Re: Nintendo Wins Court Dispute Against Pirated Game Hosting Site

@GrailUK It seems like there's a thought that Nintendo could just grab a couple of junior developers, lock them in a room for a few weeks, and have all these games suddenly available for everyone and operating perfectly on current-gen hardware. I can't see it being worth the time for all but a small number of games. Go back to the Wii era, when there were hundreds of retro games available for purchase on the Virtual Console. Complainers far outnumbered those who were pleased. People cried about the cost of the games, the pace at which they were released, the games that were missing from the service, and the fact that there was no online play. And they're supposed to do something bigger and better than what the Wii had ... in every generation?

@RadioHedgeFund "How much money did Nintendo lose though? ... they're not losing a penny if people are downloading Gamecube or Wii titles."

Nintendo is losing because if they make these games available at some point customers might pass because they have the pirated version folks think it's OK to download. By this logic, Nintendo has to resuscitate and make available every past-gen game on every current-gen console or concede to the pirates.

@Stocksy I respect the NDA in my employment contract. No idea what you mean when you say most employees break their contract daily. Most know better. And I think there's a big difference between a "casual" breach — someone forgetting to delete a sensitive email or maybe telling their spouse about a pending company sale — and someone who intentionally spoils a key vendor's product reveal.

Judging by the comments from former GameStop employees in this thread, GameStop goes over the top to impress upon its employees that leaks will not be tolerated. This wasn't a kid. If he was working there, he was of legal age, responsible for his decisions. He knew the potential ramifications, broke the rule anyway, and now must suffer the consequences he was warned he might face.

I'm sure he can get another job for equal or better pay, so his life hasn't been ruined.

As for Nintendo reacting harshly ... Game after game is being leaked these days. It's about time someone was made an example of. I'm with the big corporation on this one and proud of it. Nintendo loves me!

Re: When Does The 3DS And Wii U eShop Close? Nintendo eShop Closure Guide

Burning_Spear

@Cashews @Belatarr It was indeed difficult to pass on some of these games. Unlike when the Wii Shop closed, there is no next-generation Virtual Console this time. Nintendo seems to be all-in on leasing us these games, and so today's eShop closure means many games could indeed be gone forever unless you want to emulate. And retro game prices have gone through the roof since the Wii Shop closed, so there is no practical physical alternative for a lot of these games.

For those wondering about marriage ...

This game is unlike all others in the BokuMono series in that the focus is more on raising your child than tending to your farm. Yes, the majority of your time will be spent farming and ranching, but the game is about watching your child grow from toddler to adult, upon which he or she selects a career based on your parenting choices. In the meantime, you and your spouse mature as a couple.

If you don't like the marriage and child-rearing element, perhaps a different game in this series is for you. You're not forced to marry in other games and can instead be a single farmer for life.

When I first played this game many years ago, I was a little put off by its deemphasis of farming, particularly through the shortened season calendars, as I had played other titles in the series. This one isn't my favorite, but I'd say it has the best story of any of the games — a truly heartwarming one worthy of the time investment — and is a must-experience for true fans of the series. That said, I'd probably play the original again before the remake if I have time. Not a fan of what Marvelous does anymore.
