Seems like Yacht Club took a bunch of missteps with the Shovel Knight spin-offs and 3d game. It’s wild to bank so much on a new IP with not much fanfare, I didn’t even know it was a YC game. I wish them the best and will be on the look out for this one.
He’s absolutely right. I’ve seen lots of genZ creatives run AI to see what they can make. Although there are always voices of dissent (me being one of them), for the most part those get a crapload of clicks/likes/and general interest that pulls outside social media.
In a lot of those comments sections, it’s seen as being “old” and “not evolving your toolset.” Effectively puts us into “whatever, boomer” territory.
It’s here to stay, but I won’t be using AI to “help” my art, or suddenly make it a more consumer-friendly piece. I’ll struggle and find my footing naturally, no server farms controlling me like a puppet.
I call those AI creatives, Pinocchios 🤥 He’s a real boy!
Games are allowed to evolve. The galactic federation is a place Samus has always worked for, so I expect them to have different soldiers with varying personalities.
The series has always been about exploring alien planets for me, yes isolation does come with that, but we’ve dealt with space pirates, bounty hunters, the chozo, and robotic constructs. It’s time to bury the whole “this game is ONLY about isolation!” shtick that has never really been true.
I played both on Wii and never really liked them much, so skipped this release entirely.
It’s too expensive and feels like their remaster efforts should’ve gone towards the Metroid Prime series this year. Mario’s anniversary could’ve been covered with quick ports and deep discounts off of the older titles.
Just like Skyward Sword, games from that era should re-release with an alternative to the motion controls. Bring on Star Fox Zero, keep it under $30, and I’m happy.
I wish they updated it more often and maybe added some new animations to stuff. Each alarm eventually just kinda shows a little icon that pulsates, I’d like something like a Link spin attack animation or Mario in different suits (fire suit, frog, tanuki).
People seem to be in a Flappy Bird fake world out here where they get a custom form factor OLED screen on their Switch2 and it’s kept anywhere near the original asking price.
Absolutely. Flappy. Bird. Crazy.
“I mean look at the ASUS SuperBlamBlam 128! It’s got an amazing screen!!” AND ITS ASKING PRICE IS $650
Get real. You either pore over all this data that your eye can’t even perceive or you enjoy the games on your new system. Sheesh.
Great review and spot on with the Pros/Cons. A stronger screen would’ve made the release model much more future-proof, but at a cost that I don’t think customers would’ve paid.
Don’t have one yet, but I’m happy with how it turned out and will definitely be getting one soon.
Not much of a great response overall. I got a PS5 last Christmas, it’s a great system but there’s no denying it’s been setback by the live service shenanigans and splitting up devs/gamers with a lackluster push for PSVR2.
This mostly read like he wanted to make sure publishers know they can still monetize the hell out of their games, which feeds back into the live service crap no one wants. And also, tells me that maybe the other 2 aren’t so big on that monetization kick. He brings it up like it’s an edge…it is not points to Concord
I’m glad we’re finally getting some bigger games down the pipeline, but I wasn’t a fan of Death Stranding and while Ghost of Tsushima is an amazing game, I never finished it, so don’t see “Yotei” as something I need on release.
Switch2 is a whole different deal, because gaming comes first. Of course there’s monetization and the like, but the release schedule from MKWorld, to DK, and then Metroid; that’s exciting. Then comes all the dope 3rd party games. I don’t own one yet, but definitely see the appeal.
I don’t get why you’d want to record video anyway…we aren’t talking super exclusive material and the app is free.
But I do think they should let us download images of promotional material. Sometimes it’s just one art piece from a certain game, I think those should be downloadable in a bigger size. It’s like a magazine app, so give us some free takeaways. It’ll only entice people to use the app more.
These folks absolutely knocked it out of the park. SquareEnix has spent the better part of 20 years removing turn-based gameplay and replacing it with a semi-active MMORPG style….yet they were the ones who made Super Mario RPG.
In comes Sandfall Interactive, reminding people that this play style was never broken, simply left to rot with no build up on past innovations. So, they stepped in and completely turned heads. Super exciting!
And they didn’t have to make it a Soulslike, or a dating sim! Wowie!!
I use it every day. It’s easy to check out in between breaks at work and just a quick scroll to see what catches my interest.
I’m the type of dude that enjoys a well organized story recap of the Metroid franchise in small bites. I like to see a live Zelda medley available to watch without having to do much but open an app and click once.
At times it’s just pictures or videos, then sometimes it’s like NintendoPower Lite, with an interesting little piece of info. I’m also a sucker for the box grid backgrounds lol
Power Stone 1 and 2 would be my main reasons for buying it, but the adventure mode was my most favorite part of that entry, so this is sounding like a future buy on discount for me.
Nah, the Switch itself was the massive innovation. That’s why there’s a PS Portal that made news when they updated it to stream games.
So if we’re keeping track, the innovation is the console itself. Just being a better version of a portable console, is an upgrade to the innovation. But they kept going with a mouse mode that will already be functioning once you plug the system in.
No other console is going to let you switch to mouse mode without having to plug in a KB+M.
The system price is fine, it’s the varying prices on exclusive games, creeping past $70, selling a tech demo (no matter the price).
Ultimately, the market will decide. 3DS had its fair share of problems on release and it was consumers who made them change stance. That could easily happen again if their launch window of releases underperform.
I love how mostly destructible the environment is, seems like it’s the perfect unique hook to gameplay. Like how ink is to splatoon, or the mostly climbable environments in BotW/TotK.
Something sounds off when saying “Switch2”, I feel it’ll just be called “switch” eventually.
“2” and “u” aren’t that far off, so it sounds like “SwitchU” anyway….
Personally I would’ve liked a moniker kinda like “Super Nintendo Switch.” 1, because this announcement reminded me of the SNES days. 2, because it’s a beefier/tech-heavy system, which reminds me of Mario eating a super mushroom.
I’d like something in the style of Lament of Innocence. A 3D platformer with action combat, maybe something that builds on the Nocturne series.
Lords of Shadow was messy all-around. The plot kinda ruined the Belmont’s history. I’d only want it if it were a soft reboot of that series where we play Robert Belmont and leave behind Dracula’s point-of-view.
Ya’ll are tripping, Miiverse was AMAZING. Splatoon had so many cool artists sharing stuff. Some folks made comics and there was even a growing number of people helping others with hints and gameplay tips.
At that time there was also 3DS functionality. Like sharing 2D/3D screenshots of different game moments. Even StreetPass was awesome.
I’d love to see them all come back in an app and connect with Super Nintendo World in different ways. It’s badly needed to help those amusement parks feel more connected to Nintendo as a videogame company. And would ya look at that, a new park is going to open in a few months!
So yes, Nintendo needs to bring back Miiverse/StreetPass in a big way.
Not sure why everyone is so hung up on this being released again and being brought into the Switch ecosystem…especially when the sequel was ported over already.

Re: Anniversary: 20 Years Ago, 'GUN' Brought America's Old West (And An All-Star Cast) To GameCube
This game was SO GOOD! I wish we’d get a re-release. This and Red Dead Revolver are my go-to cowboy games.
Same goes for Forgotten Realms: Demon Stone. Great cast, written by an actual writer, and fun combat.
