Re: Talking Point: Where Does The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Fit Into the Zelda Timeline?

Assassinated

I have 2 theories.
1) Breath of the Wild takes place between Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker . There is potentially hundreds to thousands of years of time between the two games, enough time for technology to advance past any point we've seen thus far.
1A) This is an adventure that is lost to history, and it never becomes a legend passed down. Ganon(dorf) never gains control of the world to the point where the people of Hyrule take notice and pass down legends of this hero when he is defeated.
1B) This adventure is spoken of in the beginning of Wind Waker, when Ganon returned and took over the world once again. The hero actually did return to stop him, but either:
i)The hero was ultimately defeated by ganon, or
ii) The hero is responsible for the flooding of the land of Hyrule to become the Great Sea.

2) This takes place as an alternative to the legend told before the Wind Waker. In that tale, the people prayed for the Hero of Time to return and defeat Ganon once again. In the Wind Waker, he never appeared, and thus the Goddesses flooded the land to stop Ganondorf. What if this is that same moment where Ganon returns, only in this timeline, the hero does return (after a 100 year cryo-sleep) to face Ganon once again? This would mean another split of the timeline, on the same path where Adult link defeated Ganondorf it Ocarina of Time.

Both of these would chronologically take place at roughly the same time, before the Wind Waker's Great Flood.

Is it just me, or was the writing and tone of the review far more positive than a score of 5/10 would lead you to expect? Basically their only gripe was that they were left wanting more, which is hardly the worst thing you can say about a game.

Re: Writer Of Divisive New Mega Man Cartoon Asks Fans To Give It A Chance

Oh, so your issue is about the story? You're actually the first comment I saw that was specifically addressing the story, rather than general displeasure, or complaining about the artstyle. But again, all we have to go by is a tiny blurb. Does the name being Rock or Aki really make that much of a difference? Mega Man games are hardly known for their in depth stories. Absolutely nothing I've seen so far (which, mind you, is practically nothing) is unreasonable to me for a Mega Man reboot.

I'm really confused what the issue is here. I can easily tell that that is supposed to be Mega Man. It's not even like he went through all that drastic of a redesign. Why are people up in arms about this? There is literally nothing but one picture of one character on a white background. To me, the art style reminds me a bit of that short lived Iron Man cartoon, which was pretty well liked before it was shut down by Disney. I just don't get why anyone has a problem with it already. It seems like petulant whining.Reserve judgement at least until we get a friggen' trailer!

Re: Twilight Princess HD Nearly Had Wii Remote Controls

The argument about wanting to have a map on the controller is moot when there's an option for the pro controller. I wouldn't want them to focus on wiimote controls exclusively, but there is no reason why the option had to be removed. There are definitely some aspects of the wii controlls I prefer over the gamepad.

@rjejr It said 20 hours before you can even drive a Skell, and 40 before you can fly one. So no, you won't even be close to finishing the story in 20 hours. They also said it is not hyperbole to say that XCX is 5 times bigger than XC.

Re: Pokémon Shuffle Available to Download Right Now, for Free

A lot of people are complaining how expensive this game is micro-transaction wise, but I think the opposite. Is it a little ridiculous that there is an option to pay $48.00? Yes, but only because who needs to buy 498 lives at a time? Each gem is a minimum of 5 hearts, or 2:30 of downtime. This hardly seems the kind of game one would attempt to speed through, playing for hours at a time anyway.

Re: Poll: Do Video Game Reviews Need To Have A Score?

I basically click on every article, however for games I have no interest in, I always skip to the summary and review score on this site. Only when it is a game I've been anticipating do I actually read the content of your reviews. As several others have mentioned, your reviews often run very long. I think if you were to forgo a scoring system, I'd be more likely to skip your reviews altogether, rather than sit and read through the content of every little game and rerelease that ever graces a Nintendo system. Honestly, if a game is ported with zero differences in how it plays, it doesn't need a separate review for every iteration! I often see reviews for the same game three or four times because it released on Wii virtual console, then 3DS virtual console, then WiiU virtual console. Nothing changed!

Re: Review: Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (Wii U)

I really don't feel that the absence of a multiplayer mode ought to affect a single player game's score at all. Focus on what is there, not on what was never hinted at or intended to be there. Not every game needs a multiplayer mode, regardless of how "easy to implement" you might think it'd be.

Re: Somebody At Ubisoft Really Doesn't Like Mario Kart 8's Mercedes-Benz DLC

Wow, I can't believe how many butthurt people are bashing Ubisoft over this. Basically a guy tweeted his opinion, but did it on the company twitter account. It was an incredibly gentle rebuke, and makes a fair point. Why are so many people so up in arms about this? Do you really like the DLC that much? I personally feel it looks out of place in Mario Kart, but ultimately care very little about it either way. Are you really that passionate about a few digital cars, or are you just looking for an excuse to hate on Ubisoft?
