During E3 it was confirmed that Pokémon GO would arrive before the Plus add-on, with the latter given a late July release window by Shigeru Miyamoto. The recommended price in the US will be $34.99, and now Nintendo UK has opened pre-orders on its official store.
The UK price is the same as in the US, set at £34.99; it includes the wristband as shown, too. The UK store is limiting pre-orders to one per customer, citing a late July release but avoiding a specific date. The listing does also outline compatible iOS handsets - iPhone 5 / 5c / 5s / SE / 6 / 6s / 6 Plus/ 6s Plus with iOS 8 - 9. Android compatibility details are promised at a later date.
Are you tempted to pre-order one of these? Let us know.

Aaannnddd...DONE!
Overpriced by far.
Should be around £20 at most. Even then it should come with some kind of in game content. Either free currency or a Legendary Pokemon of some kind.
it's $44.99 in Canada. EB Games already has it up for preorder too
I was one of the ones that sent this tip into Nintendo Life.
I think that @DoctorOverbuild was another one that I know that has sent the tip in.
I was able to pre-order this Pokémon Go Plus at about 9.26pm which was exactly two minutes after it became available.
Ah yes, the old 'just switch the monetary symbol' exchange rate.
Classic piss taking.
Amazon.Com US has a Vote for Top 25 E3 games contest.Zelda is edging out GoW 76-74.
I'll get one if the app is any good, I don't even have an idea of the premiums for the app itself.
It won't surprise me if they end up selling these things on clearance though.
Everyone ordering one here? Of course they are.
/sarcasm
@Alundra-1998 Yup, I tipped it. Got my order in too! Really looking forward to this. But that price, damn it should NOT be £35 if it's $35 it should be £25. But I get the feeling this could become used in a variety of apps so I'll bite.
Might want to update the article saying it's the UK store exclusive!
...And, what does this thing do again?
Oh come on now!!! North America had a preorder window right after the Pokemon Go event then it disappeared a few minutes later. NoA please pull it up.
To answer your question, no, I'm not going to be pre ordering and I'll be surprised if many people do.
Not yet able to preorder in Australia, but not sure this is a day 1 buy for me, app has to support my phone which is HTC android. Probably wait and see if the game is worth playing and if I really need an extra peripheral. I'm a bit over amiibos in the same way, the new Zelda ones announced are saying $40 each on pre-order with ebgames... This is becoming stupidly greedy from Nintendo, I buy a game and yet it's not the full experience unless I pay an additional Nintendo tax. Not very happy.
I'm sure this marketing strategy makes great business sense but it is thieving from loyal nintendo fans without giving anything back. Consider I bought my Wii u on the promise of Zelda with a video showing the game on a Wii u, the game will come out now 4 yrs later and include ridiculously overpriced lumps of plastic in order to have all of it.
@A01 Perfect comment.
They don't mention how much data it swallows. Could be an issue for some, especially as there are microtransactions as possible future purchases within the game. I want this to be good, but think that price is way too much. Someone somewhere is surely tinkering away thinking about how to make a cheaper alternative.
Pokego Wil sell microtrans like crazy in Japan, but i give the app avg of a week in Australia before people realise and uninstall it.
This price is ridiculous. But as a Nintendo Toys ans Games focused Youtuber, I must bend to their will Tbh, as long as it's not pay to win within the app, I'm cool with a one time £35 purchase
This app looks horrendous. It's a neat novelty concept but other than that no way am I getting this. I appreciate Nintendo getting into the mobile space but they haven't really made a single decent app yet. Miitomo has long since been deleted from my phone.
Let's see, with a limit of one per person and a $34.99 price tag, I'm expecting Nintendo to sell a resounding... Twelve units.
I've got into the habit of often looking at my phone when I'm out and about, so I don't see a need to buy this. Plus, that price is very expensive for what it does.
@Sakura How much data does it use?
I might have to keep my one new and sealed if it uses any more than 3GB of data...
@DoctorOverbuild that $35 doesn't include VAT (which probably adds £5) plus currencies flucuate A LOT (so they've add a couple of bob for that too).
@dazzlerJJD I guess but if you look at game prices, they're not the same. This shouldn't be either. At the very least it should be £30 not £35.
That price point is just outrageous. There'd better be some good market research behind that price, because that's waaaaaaaay above my budget.
I would not even consider it for more than 15 dollars. 35 pounds sterling!? Are they insane?
50 bucks in Canada? Wow, what a joke...
Why would anyone buy this, it's almost the price of a full game, you're buying it for a free to play game that barely has game play.
My decision to buy this will depend on whether the game is going to be riddled with in-app transactions. I have a bad feeling that it's going to cost AU$60 here (the full price for a 3DS or budget Wii U game), and I'm not happy paying such an exorbitant fee for a game that I will never truly "own" because Nintendo wants me to pay a dollar here and a dollar there to play.
My local Gamestop is taking pre-orders Pokémon Go Plus
$ 35 for that thing ? Better spend for real Pokemon games.
Too pricey...
The Pokewalker cost about 10 dollars and it does more functionally than this thing. The only way I can see this being purchased is 1) more than a select few beta access players can actually play it and it turns out good and 2) if its like Pokemon Rumble where putting in the amount of money equivalent to buying a full game gives you the game sans microtransactions and the Go Plus counts as that
Its already been confirmed theres a currency system in place but because its a beta right now players are getting ludicrous amounts at a time each day so they dont run out of items or anything. Nobody knows how much that daily allowence will shrink to or if it will even exist in the final game.
I'd like to see a poll from Nintendo life about this gadget. I don't plan on buying one (yet) because (1) I don't know what it does and (2) it's very expensive for such a cheap bit of plastic. It it were £12 I'd probably buy it...sorry Nintendo you need to rethink this one....
Pro tip: that is not the same price
What a ridiculous price point, seriously either they greatly undershowed the functionality of the thing, Pokémon Go went way over budget and they have to make back money or are crazy. Even if this thing was £10 I'd have to think about getting it let alone over £30 for what little it does and how much of a wild card Pokémon Go feels like.
Nintendo has overestimated mobile market, £34.99 isn't going to a happen.
Most mobile gamers, are ultra casual, and like stuff for free.
I doubt this is going to take off.
Absolutely ridiculous! My anticipation just got insta killed! Especially when seeing the first videos and how horrendous it looks! and then charging this much for it! Nuts!
Even Square Enix doesn't charge this much for fully remastered re-releases of their Final Fantasy titles on iOS!
And those are Fullblown games without any micro transactions.
Are they seriously charging that much for a phone game/app and expect people to buy it? I know it's Pokemon but still... And to say it's really a true Pokemon game is a bit questionable as well. Like others have cited, this is Pokemon NO-Go.
@Alundra-1998 same! 21.25 though!
Whilst I agree with the ridiculous pricing, I don't think it really matters in the slightest! I was with a group of 5 friends last night when the email arrived and I forwarded it to all of them and all of them and myself purchased it without hesitation!
@Alundra-1998 I think that the Plus device itself won't be using any data, but rather the app will be constantly downloading info in the form of GPS data and then sending it to the device via Bluetooth. I found this, but as the app in beta doesn't have all planned features, it's not possible to say for sure at the moment what the impact will be.
http://www.mobipicker.com/pokemon-go-much-data-will-use-ingress-data-usage-analysed/
We also don't know how much storage the app will take up on a phone/tablet, which also might be a problem for some users, as is the case with Miitomo. Both issues will depend on how much the app is used, but as the point of it is to catch 'em all, people may be paying a heavy price if they don't already have a generous data plan.
Edit: I've just been reminded of the possibility of battery drain too, which may be a bigger concern.
Ha ha ha, no. Ridiculous price.
What is this thing? Looks awful.
What a rip
Not ordering, need more details on functionality, data usage etc before I decide if its for me.
@Alundra-1998 Does it really matter who sent the tip in?
But no way am I buying this for $35. I almost question why would anyone that plays the 3DS main games even want or need this or the app for that matter at all. What I saw of the app at E3 didn't even look fun. To each their own I guess.
@Alundra-1998 Want a cookie or something?
This costs way too much.
Wow, it's a bit sad that Pokemon fans are happy with that price.
Insane price for a cheap-looking bit of plastic that's used with a free-to-play game that most are still undecided on. Makes sense, Nintendo/Pokémon Co.. Another great idea!
@JpGamerGuy90 I also have absolutely zero interest in Pokémon GO (or any mobile games for that matter). And you're spot-on regarding it's good that Nintendo has finally entered the mobile app arena but so far, they're offerings have been "meh" at best. But the crazy thing regarding mobile games is this: they don't have to be good. In fact, an overarching percentage of mobile apps are novelties that wear-off after an hour or so. Yet, that doesn't stop the masses from blowing money on microtransactions and IAPs. Personally, I don't understand the appeal in paying to win or just sucking money for digital items you can't keep (especially when the servers shut off which happens to so many mobile games).
I'd rather get a main series Pokemon game than an LED with a button and a vibration motor for that price, thanks.
Questions I don't expect answers to till the game is out:
Is there any confirmation Pokemon GO will work with the main series?
Will this game net platinum coins?
Is AR functionality required to play if your phone's camera breaks?
Can the front camera be used?
Why is the UK more expensive than the US
@Roam85 It does not work with the main series or share data in any way as of yet if that is what you mean.I doubt it will in future also. It is a stand alone experience . I am not sure what you mean by platinum coins but after playing beta and now the official release I do not see anything like that. If the gyro sensor or camera that you use for AR breaks you can simply switch to the virtual view which just places the pokemon in a virtual environment. No big deal there. I dont even use the AR honestly.
