Update:
And now it's finished, thanks for watching!
Original Article:
In recent weeks we've written about 'The Gauntlet', a team-based format that aims to provide a new twist to competitive Smash Bros. gaming. It utilises the 8-player Smash mode in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U; you can get the full lowdown in our extensive feature and breakdown of this event.
Organised by S.O.S. Gamers in New York, this Charity eSports Invitational will have four teams from the Tri-State area battling it out to showcase a format that aims to make teamwork a key component in the Smash Bros. scene.
All of the action from Xeno Zero in New York can be followed below (courtesy of 8WayRun) - it kicks off at 3pm Pacific / 6pm Eastern / 11pm UK / midnight CET.
Ahead of a Summer of major eSport events, it'll be interesting to see whether this format can gain momentum and interest from the Smash Bros. community.

What is the usual format for teams in the Smash Bros. Competitive scene? Do they have any 4X4?
@coolaggro Not usually, not in terms of all playing at once. It's only possible on the Wii U game with 8-Player Smash I guess (outside of mods).
@coolaggro Tourney stuff for smash 4 is typically 1v1 in 2 or 3 stock. Also @ThomasBW84 , there's something up with the stream since just the audio right now unless that's how they meant it to be.
I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be audio only right now. It starts in 2 minutes.
A bummer that live chat can't be enabled.
Yeah, it's running a little late, it's still happening though!
I'm waiting
This is gunna be hipe
@Captain_Toad Yeah sorry about that. I setup the article and tried to test it and it wasn't working properly. It's late Friday night here and tech-man Anthony is on holiday, so I couldn't fix it.
Okay, I'm sold; this is WAY more fun to watch than regular team battles.XD
I literally caught only the last 10 seconds of the whole thing.
I would like the format a whole lot better if you could see the points in battle.
@Setery10 they do after the first match
@Fitkong that's stupid
@Setery10 hahaha as in they started to do that after the first quarter - it's not a rule
