Re: Nintendo Confirms US Price For 'Switch 2 Welcome Tour'

@Quarbit Yeah, I just don’t think I would ever actually use it tbh. Just being honest with myself lol.

Maybe if it was something integrated in the Switch’s system. That you can open up and play in a simultaneous window while waiting for something in your current game. Like how you would play mini games while waiting for matches in Splatoon 1.

But as a separate app I have to open, just seems too tedious, when I can just use my phone. Atleast for me personally.

I honestly feel this is a bit of a nothing burger. It would have been nice to have it as a free app for sure. Like not denying it would have added a bit of flavor but I absolutely don’t think I would use this more than a few minutes so can’t say I feel any investment in this.

Reminds me of how I felt about 1-2 Switch and how people said it should’ve been a pack-in title for Switch 1

You know I disagree with some of the choices, but massive respect for putting Turnabout Serenade on this list. I don't even like the case much, but it takes some guts to put it at number two considering how often AA fans hate it

Re: Review In Progress: Nintendo Switch Sports - Familiar Fun With Friends, But Little More

@AlphaElite I have my gripes with this game too (def not buying it), but this idea that Iwata’s era was notably better than current Nintendo is silly. Nintendo has been doing these type of practices for ages, and many gained prominence in Iwata’s time. Heck Amiibo and the practice of releasing bare bone games (Splatoon) with the promise of updates post launch were huge points in the time of the Wii U alone.

@Thief Temtem was as much a Pokémon-clone as this game is tbf. This game is arguably less so since it’s not following the standard Gym format and narrative. I expect it’ll sell well though if the game’s demo is indicative of the final games quality.

Temtem sold well as well, although its popularity unsurprisingly died down post it’s first release. Do agree that it won’t affect Pokémon though. The franchise is far too large to concern itself with some indie games on Steam that will never sell anywhere close to a single of its mainline releases.

@Dr_Lugae Tried the demos. It’s pretty fun. Has charming writing, with some really cute sprite work for the environments and creatures.

The demo ends a bit after the first main boss and when the story starts to become more prominent, but it showed promise. Cool and silly battles, decently (not overly) complex level design, varied puzzles. I’d say the low point is really the beginning before, since it’s a bit uninteresting.

Re: Talking Point: Are Shiny Pokémon Too Common These Days?

The only times I felt them too easy to acquire is when they just give them away in events and such, and maybe some of the mon in USUM. I'd actually argue that most of the methods to acquire them should be improved and made less of a complete drag and grind fest. It's incredibly monotonous and uninteractive. Just spinning the rng wheel

Re: Netflix's Resident Evil Series Has Been Officially Confirmed, First Details Released

-Green-

The second timeline sounds too overboard so far. I’m not going to act like RE has good writing or characters, they’re near consistently cliche and over the top action archetypes, but part of what makes the best games in the series work is their settings. As in more unique isolated environments that contrast with the standard world. Having it already be post apocalyptic is ringing some alarm bells. The RE movies already did that and it was a terrible. Although the movies were terrible regardless, the setting did those movies no favors

Re: Nintendo Dropped Every LEGO Mario Prototype 6,000 Times To Ensure Its Quality

@TG16_IS_BAE The joycons issues come mostly from Nintendo getting cheap with the material the analog sticks are made of. It breaks down too easily and messes with the controller. They didn't test them enough before releasing them, and I would imagine it's because they were rushing on getting the Switch out.

I'm almost certain that they haven't addressed it much because they plan on releasing a new model (similar to how DS I, DS Lite, etc were handled) that fixes that flaw and using that as a subtle way to push people to buy it.

Re: Series Producer Suggests Metroid Prime 4 'Won't Ignore Casual Players'

-Green-

@Octane I agree. A difficulty mode crafted by the developers will almost always be better than whatever restrictions the player can place on themselves. This for example is why Gamefreak's excuse that Pokemon's difficulty is up to the player is silly, because in the end the game (such as its AI, layout, etc...) is still designed to be easy, and no amount of gimping will change that.

I'm just explaining how Nintendo and companies closely connected to them seem to view it. It's also easier for them since they don't have to go through the trouble of creating well-designed difficulty options. Just to clarify, I'm ragging on Gamefreak here because they've directly confirmed in interviews that this is how they view difficulty is handled in their games so they're a prime example.

More reasonable and well crafted difficulty options will basically always be better and should be encouraged of course.

Re: Pokémon-Like Nexomon: Extinction Shows Off Three Of The Game's Regions

-Green-

Seems like one of those games that was designed for phones first. The main problem with these types of games for me is that they're trying too hard to be copies/competition to Pokemon that it just makes them feel like boot-leg versions.

From the designs, worlds or art style they're just not distinct enough to give them an identity. Which is a shame because we could really use some more series in the monster catching genre.

Re: Series Producer Suggests Metroid Prime 4 'Won't Ignore Casual Players'

People are overreacting imo. Nintendo games are very rarely ever notably hard (which is what people usually mean when thinking of Hardcore). They focus on accessibility and making a game appealing to all ages, but many of their games offer a lot of room for experimentation and improvement if you want to look for it.

Pokemon for example, while not being made directly by Nintendo, is an easy series, but offers great depth and variety in its battle system that appeal to its more hardcore audience. This is generally the approach they take. Odyssey and BotW encourage similar approaches to movement and speedrunning for the really hardcore out there.

@Ralizah The towns look actually pretty nice tbh. The main issue of visuals for me is the Wild Area which actually does look pretty ugly imo, especially with the weather effects. It runs awful in online mode as well. Can you believe it crashed on me for the first time yesterday while I was online:
