Monster Hunter Rise isn't the only new Monster Hunter entry the Switch is getting in 2021 – Capcom has revealed that portable spin-off Monster Hunter Stories is getting a Switch-based sequel named Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings Of Ruin, too.

Adopting the same cut art style seen in the 3DS original, Monster Hunter Stories 2 will feature a strong narrative focus, and will presumably retain the simplistic RPG mechanics the sub-series is known for. Here's a snippet from the official PR blurb:

MONSTER HUNTER STORIES 2: Wings of Ruin: Currently in development, MONSTER HUNTER STORIES 2: Wings of Ruin puts players in the role of a Monster Rider who befriends iconic monsters from the Monster Hunter series as they embark on epic adventures together. More information about this story-based role-playing game coming to Nintendo Switch in summer 2021 will be revealed in the future.

It's due for launch in Summer 2021, and will offer some form of connectivity with Monster Hunter Rise. For more details on the game, check out the timestamped video of the Monster Hunter Direct above (which includes the announcement trailer).
