The Switch has some interesting monster catching games that aren't Pokémon, and over the past couple of years that has included Nexomon and Nexomon: Extinction on the eShop. They're particularly colourful games with their own sense of style, and have undoubtedly earned loyal fans - as a result publisher PQube has confirmed that Nexomon + Nexomon: Extinction: Complete Collection will arrive on Switch both physically and on the eShop later this year.
In terms of the benefits of jumping into the collection, one is that both games will be together in the same launcher, so hopping between the games will be easy. The publisher is also teasing "new, extremely rare Nexomon in Nexomon’s upcoming post game content", which will be available in this collection. Some of the artwork and descriptions are below:
Prismazor is a wildly popular plant Nexomon in the Nexomon community and even won a popularity contest among tamers. It not only looks impressive but also battles with incredible skill. This Nexomon is an all-rounder, and it is proven to be the go-to Nexomon for most experienced tamers.
Carnagrius are not particularly fond of humans. A long time ago, humans destroyed their natural habitat making them very cautious of tamers. Although it is tough to earn a Carnagrius trust, once a tamer achieves this feat, they become inseparable.
Jeeta is the fastest Nexomon to date. Not a single Nexomon comes even close to matching its full speed. Jeeta uses its electrified nervous system to jumpstart its muscles like no other Nexomon. You won't even see it coming.
We'll keep our eyes peeled for a formal release date for the collection.

I like the monster designs at least.

Zacian, you do realize you're in the wrong game, right?
@JokerCK Looks like Raikou is here too....
Oooh...!!
It has PS4 version also in physical release.
Two games in one disc.
Yaaay...! 😃
I'm not sure if the first Nexomon game got a physical release, but Extinction did.
I never grabbed them regardless, but I might grab the collection physical release.
I've had Extinction for a bit but kind of only poked at it. Should get back to it, seems to have a lot to like about it.
It's a great indie series IMO. Has good plot actually besides the monster taming element. Kind of underrated for me. My teen gaming kids (the younger two) liked it a lot as well.
With the way Pokemon has been milking it's franchise to the ground it's good that there's some competition coming out...even if looks incredibly similar to what no doubt inspired it.
Those designs sure look a lot better than most Pokemon ones they come up with these days.
Cash Grab. I got the game already why couldn't they do this in the first place...
that last one is just Raikou
Man if only this came out sooner, I just recently bought a physical copy of Nexomon: Extinction. Well guess I'll sell that one soon and get this collection instead. Hadn't start on the game yet as I still had to finish Pokemon Legends: Arceus but if this collection release before that then it's right on track for me to get, didn't know it got a first entry either.
Was on the fence about it but I might jump in since it's two games now.
I'm confused it's 2 games not a game and expansion?
Played these when they originally came out and while they did have some redeeming features like lovely graphics for example I found them too grindy and some of the status ailments were extremely annoying too.
Yeah these designs look identical to certain Pokémon. Glad I'm not the only one that noticed that last one in particular being a blatant rip off of Raikou.
Definitely worth getting both of these either physically or digitally if you are a fan of the single player modes in older Pokemon games. They aren't very complex in terms of mechanics but at least they have enjoyable light hearted stories. They are probably the best pokemon clones done just don't expect a very competitive battle system.
Extinction can be a bit annoying too if you are trying to catch all of the monsters as it is an open world where the wild monsters levels scale with yours and the early evolutions are harder to come across as a result.
I already own a physical copy of Extinction, still though I might just get this in physical form for the first game. Maybe, I'll give my copy of Extiction to my twelve year old nephew, if I pick this up.
I've been tempted by this but just wondering if the collection will be cheaper than what both are priced at now... Do I jump in now or wait, that is the question!
I just bought Extinction last week. 😓
Been looking at these games, guess I'll try em when this comes out
@JokerCK funnily enough I think that dog precedes Zacian
I would consider getting this maybe will wishlist it incase I decide too
@ThomasBW84 Will these new legendary Nexomon and post-game content be added via update if you already have Nexomon and or Nexomon Extinction digitally?
Having played and 100% Extinction, I can attest the game is great.
Monster designs are solid for the most part. Story is surprisingly engaging, and I was completely hooked during the 2nd half. Legitimately good humor. Good world design with interesting towns and locations. Good art and music.
I appreciate using different mechanics and systems than Pokemon, and I like the ideas overall, but I feel some could have been implemented better. Having an overall stamina meter and moves costing different amounts is an idea I like, but the starting stamina seems quite low. At least, stamina becomes a problem because battles generally take longer. Rarely do you one shot enemy Nexomon, even with type advantage, unless you are much higher level. Again, just makes stamina more necessary by virtue of attacks needing to happen more often.
Those Nexomon aren't new. At least two of them are the final evolutions of two of the starters. I know because I had them.
The original Nexomon is just not good. Evolutions are purely cosmetic. There are only 7 types, of which one is neutral, and the others each have exactly two strengths and two weaknesses. There are no in-game descriptions of move accuracy or power; you can't even tell if a move is just a status effect or an attack with a status effect rider. Most of the status effects do exactly the same thing (skip one turn). And of course there's the premium currency, which many items are gated behind (and, while there's some in chests and whatnot, it's not enough to buy even one item).
I hear Extinction is better, but save your money on the first.
Ooh, I was pondering getting either one or the other, I may grab that double pack instead!
