I want fun stuff basically. If it's actually a decent portable, it'll probably get more use than my PS4 does. Not because the PS4 is a bad home console, because I'm not saying that at all. Portables just fit into my busy life better than a home console likely ever will.
@BLPs I'm not sure. I just felt that it was a bit odd they would post a graph with no measurements to go by. Unless I'm missing something, couldn't the graph be used to represent just about any value then?
@PlywoodStick My issue with the whole rumor is that it feels so similar to the previous rumor we had regarding the NX controller. Where a picture of the controller 'leaked' and the whole internet was going crazy over it. With multiple news sites reporting on it, claiming that their sources confirmed it. Supposed leakers also confirming that it was the NX controller, and multiple sites dissecting the apparent technology that the controller will have. The only differences, in this case, are that Eurogamer started the rumor this time, and overall, they have even less evidence to back up their claims than the previous rumor.
Not surprised at all. At least people can't use this as an example against Nintendo in terms of their current quality of games. So there's that...but there's still that issue of Star Fox...
@ThanosReXXX It mostly took so long because I kept on forgetting to respond back to you on it (I'm forgetful at times). lol. I wanted to make sure I got back to you on it though.
But, yeah. When I considered the whole idea of this being a new huge wild world, and the significance placed on the environments and nature. Along with the underlying tones of wonder, mystery and sadness, it all made a lot more sense
@ThanosReXXX So it's been a while since I replied to you, but this conversation sort of stayed in my head for a bit, and I put some more thought into the whole topic. Overall, I've changed my stance on the topic and I can understand what Aonuma is going for with the selective voice acting.
It makes a lot more sense when I began to imagine the whole tone and theme of BotW. It's actually really cool
@PlywoodStick It is mostly for entertainment, but I also feel that Yahtzee's satire and humor offer some good insight about the games themselves. He's also one of the more unbiased reviewers I see as of late.
@VanillaLake Because they weren't allowed to leave the Great Plateau area. They literally spent 6 hours in the same small tutorial area of the game (which apparently accounts for 1-2% of the game's world). So they kept redoing the same things in the same areas over and over again

"The same can be said for the first hands on with the new Zelda. Yes you have given us an open world to explore but nothing is grabbing us and saying come this way or what happens if I .. dammit the floor just gave way! It needs a much better sense of pace and a general direction. Hands on time left me feeling meh. I love Zelda as I love most ninty games, but what I played was pretty much a sandbox with no real concept. Let's hope that the guys at Nintendo are holding a lot back, because as it stands it is simply a pot of ideas that do not seem to gel together."
I think most of this can be attributed to the fact that what you played was a very closed off demo, taking place in the small beginner chunk of the game. You're experience was heavily restricted overall.
I'm not even sure how this is allowed on this site, to be honest. I've seen countless previous times on this site, where we were warned about discussing political views and how this is not the right site for it.
@ThanosReXXX I'm sorry, but I don't see how I'm misquoting. He stated that he finds it's really difficult to leave an impression on players with just text, so in specific cases when he wants to leave a greater impression, he would use voice acting.
@ThanosReXXX I see no other reason why, if Aonuma himself acknowledges that voice acting leaves a greater impression.
Also, I never said he doesn't know what he's doing. It's very well possible that to him, the selective voice acting thing is a better approach, but I just don't agree with it.
@JaidynReiman I do think it seems lazy, since they are purposely not using full voice acting solely because they don't want to, even though they acknowledge how important it can be. I doubt Nintendo has any issue saving time and money on recording for voice acting when they can just pass off the excuse they use above.
Also, it's far past time for Zelda to finally be fully voice acted. We live in a time where every other big open-world game is fully voice acted, including games that are even larger than BotW. With even several indie games being voice acted as well. It makes Zelda seem all the more dated and behind, imo.
It's really not impressive. The demo suffers from many things, such as poor framerate, blurry textures, big pop-in (which is especially noticeable when flying), etc...
@rjejr Yeah, I think most people are going off the assumption that it will dual release alongside the NX, similar to how it was for Twilight Princess. I also think it mostly seemed boring because the Treehouse people refused to leave the same area and didn't want to show us any of the more interesting snippets. Because spoilers apparently.
@Kirk Well to be fair, Skyward Sword also has the advantage of being a much more condensed game than the newer Zelda. Also, they do have like at least 9 months to finish the game up, so I'm sure they'll polish the game more.

@chardir That's a good point actually.

Why doesn't the graph have any measurements/values on it?

So, I'm also unsure about this whole rumor thing.
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo NX Deal Is A Vindication Of Nvidia's Shield Program
I don't know. Until it's confirmed by Nintendo themselves, I'll approach this whole thing with a skeptical mind.
Re: Multiple Sources Outline a Portable NX With Detachable Controllers, Including a 'Base Station' for TV
I really like portables, so we'll see where this goes.

Instabuy for me.
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Provides Assurances on Pikmin 4 Development
@VanillaLake #81 I doubt Nintendo would do something like that with a game as important as BotW, tbh.
The amiibo stuff is already pushing the boundaries for people.
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Provides Assurances on Pikmin 4 Development
@Grumblevolcano Oh, okay. When I first read your comment, I read it literally. Now that you've clarified a bit, I get what you're saying.
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Provides Assurances on Pikmin 4 Development
@VanillaLake I get that but Grumble really shouldn't state it in such an absolute way.

@Grumblevolcano #63 Do you have proof of that?
