Cloud gaming is the future, but I'm not sure the future is here yet. For some it is, but I am happy with physical games for now as they have a resale value.
Nintendo plays things close to its chest and then announces things quickly without giving the market or gamers time to anticipate a new arrival. Unless it's BotW when the market no longer cares.
While the Oled Switch is welcome it's not what the market was expecting. And AAA Nintendo games this year has been poor both in amount of games and titles.
Gamers and the market want to know what to expect from Nintendo next year, and it's not a movie or a theme park ride. Since Nintendo have said there will be no Switch Pro, does that mean we are now where we are for the next few years, the Oled and a BotW game carrot dangling at us at E3 yet again.
If I was an investor I would be moving my stock away from Nintendo.
But if Nintendo has something up its sleeve for 2022 they should let us all know, that Nintendo is more than just a company that makes a couple of handheld gaming consoles.
One review suggests this game is best played on TV as it looks a lot better and plays better with a pro controller.
I can see what the reviewer means and just as some games fit the handheld well, others are better on a bigger screen.
Its sods law, release a new game with a new console and it looks better when not played on the new screen. Maybe we should have had a game that shows the best of the Oled display.
@JoeyTS I didn't give every game the same treatment because the Switch game is the new Kid on the block, so it should be bigger and better, but it doesn't seem that way. According to NL's list anyway.
I counted three games from the Switch. That's 12% of the games that made the list, were from the Switch. So 88% of the best 25 games are from other consoles.
I didn't really give Eastward a second look, until I seen the name Chucklefish. I'm playing Wargroove at the moment. I Will go back and read the Eastward reviews
I don't have any issues with the art on either, but my thoughts are should they have moved away from the cartoon look?
I'm playing Wargroove now to get me ready for Advance Wars, it is billed as the nearest game to be Advance Wars.
It is a good strategy game and the graphics do take second place to the gameplay, although a slightly improved look would be better.
That said I got the physical copy of Wargroove for £13 with an instruction manual and map in the box. So I can't complain. But I do understand the the complaints about the Advance Wars price.
I hope the reviews give an honest review of AW and say if it is overpriced for what it is.
If I had the choice of swapping the selection of N64 games for the Switch games I would. The N64 games on the Switch now with today's graphics. And I would trade todays selection, BotW and all the others.
Of course lots of games look great on the Switch, but Witcher 3 is not one of them. To exaggerate by saying it looks good is not recognising the Switch limitations. The developers may have done a good job to get it to run at all on the Switch, but the graphics are poor. Just because it can run on the Switch does not mean the graphics should get extra praise.
And if you disagree then the opposite can be said of the games you listed that have good graphics on the Switch.... they would be even better on the PS5.
Wiki: A video game console is an electronic or computer device that outputs a video signal or visual image to display a video game that one or more people can play through some type of game controller. These may be home consoles which are generally placed in a permanent location connected to a television or other display device and controlled with a separate game controller, or handheld consoles that include their own display unit and controller functions built into the unit and can be played anywhere.
Nintendo class the Switch Lite as a console and they combine these sales figures with the⁹ original Switch sales.⁹
Nintendo are not going to confirm a rumor, so that it is no longer a rumor, logic would say of course they will deny anything that is getting close to the truth. They want the world to know when a Switch Pro will be released, when they announce it and not when the press do.
Semantics play a part here/ for example have there been 5 PlayStation's or is there just different variations of a single PlayStation. Does the name have to change to make it a separate console from the previous one?
If Nintendo introduce a new more powerful console next year, that can't be used in handheld mode, is it still a Switch if they call it a Switch, but if they call it the Dolphin is it no longer part of the Switch family?
The Pro is really just a generic name for what ever will come next, assuming it will be more powerful, of course.
Nintendo has two Switch variants. The Lite and the Switched Docked.
The Oled is replacing the original Switch which will be phased out during 2022. There is little point is selling the Oled and an inferior model. As Oled sales increase the original Switch will have production closed.
Nintendo has always been a home console first, that can be played on a TV, all be it a small TV back in the day. Nintendo doesn't need a Switch pro but it would be a bad move not to and so I think they will announce one next year.
@jsty3105 I have a Bluetooth adapter and I've never experienced signal interference or latency. So that reason does not seem like a positive excuse. And the Oled has Bluetooth.
Yes I see your point, if you buy the Oled and don't want Dread, then there is not much else in the way of new AAA games about, so it's back to the old stuff.
@jsty3105 regardless whether its is not "just Nintendo, the Switch is portable and does have Bluetooth and gamers should have been able to use that Bluetooth to listen to the games when having the sound volume turned up was not appropriate, without having to buy a separate adapter.
It has suddenly been turned on now, because the Oled has Bluetooth.
Nothing to do with what the Xbox or PS does or does not do.
@Aiodensghost it won't be available in the US because your price is already lower than the UK price. Our price includes 20% vat which has to be included in the price shown. So although we have a price reduction of £40, £8 of that is the tax, so the Switch discount is only £32.
The Discounted price is now £250, equivalent to $355. Since you are only paying $299 plus state tax (I know Florida is 6%) you are still cheaper than we are.
Bluetooth was kept from us for over four years, for reasons only Nintendo know about.
But now they need to balance the features of the Original Switch with the Oled model. The Original Switch will be phased out during next year, production will stop when the Oled production is meeting demand's.
Nintendo's priority is to sell enough Oleds to existing Switch owners who want to upgrade, while keeping the demand for the Original Switch high.
The price cut, Bluetooth, and maybe Christmas bundles will maintain those high sales.
The price gap between both machines is not that great (the price of a game) and new buyers, unless they are skint will go for the Oled model.
For older gamers, gaming is not an expensive pastime. A new PlayStation, Xbox and Oled Switch together cost less than a good set of golf clubs.
So owning two consoles is not expensive. They are not like Smartphones that get updated every year.
The Switch is half the price of the Xbox and PS, so I would expect it to sell more, and because the Lite carries the Switch name, this boosts the sales figures. Also consoles are not exclusive, I guess many Xbox and PS owners have Switches as well. So any comparison regarding sales is flawed.
But graphical and power perspective is lacking, (as this article said), in the Switch. The solution may no longer be a Switch Pro, but gamers owning two consoles.
I have one Switch but would like to play some games as they were made to be played and not as they have to be played because of the lack of graphical and power perspective of the Switch. So I should buy a PS, and have the best of both worlds.
If I do that then my yearly budget for games will be shared between Nintendo and Sony, rather than it all go to Nintendo. Game sales must be more of a concern than console sales in the future.
Dread and Skyward Sword were two games that were dropped into the Nintendo release schedule to keep fans happy while BotW 2 and Metroid 4 were pushed back down the release date line.
BotW 1 and many other game's have been announced then the release date put back and sometimes on more than one occasion.
There will be a more powerful Switch release next year and that is when we will see BotW 2 and Metroid 4 and even a new Mario Game. So you trying to justify release dates, when the release is controlled by Nintendo's marketing is pointless.
To clarify, I am responding to this topics question, 'Are you eager to see more entries in the Bravely Default series?'
My response is/was not if it's going to be a four year wait. I am not eager to wish my life away for a game.
Metroid and BotW 2 were examples of this kind of wait. A little clip of BotW at E3 or a couple of stills in a Nintendo Direct and we should be grateful, then another long delay. Clever marketing or frustrating for gamers?

The scores are high.

I would guess, any gamer that is a FIFA fan plays it on Xbox or PS, I they have a choice.
Re: Feature: Best WarioWare Microgames Ever
@JoeyTS 25 games on the list across 5 separate consoles averages out at 20% per console. But the Switch is below average at only 12%.
So to put it another way, most of the top 25 best Wario games on the list are not on the Switch.
And that is from NL, not me. Your list will obviously differ. But this list does nothing to sell the game to anyone thinking of buying it.
😱

Looking forward to this game. Perhaps more games should be treated this way.
May be a Mario Golf demo six months before release, and we would have got more content from day one.
Re: Video: We've Actually Played Metroid Dread, Does It Meet Our Expectations?
I'll give it a miss, even though I will have the Oled.
It really does look like a 2d game designed for a handheld console. It would have looked good on an updated DS, just as it will look good on the Oled.
But it does not look fifty quids worth of good.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of Yesterday's Nintendo Direct?
I agree with Alex and Jon, a 5 or at a push a 6. For me a 5.
There was no wow factor that would push the score up. I'd like to play some of the N64 games again but they need a fresh coat of paint.
Maybe the highlight is a new Kirby early next year, but let's hope it's the full game and some content is not held back as dlc.
My highlight is Triangle Strategy. 🙃
Re: Triangle Strategy Has A Silly Name But Looks Great, Out In March
Triangle Strategy may not be a 'silly' name as long as it does what it says on the tin.
Rock, paper, scissors type of strategy game.

I think I would play one or two in this collection, so I guess it's wait for the proverbial sale.
Re: Don't Worry, Nintendo Isn't Abandoning Switch Online's SNES And NES Libraries
I think Nintendo will overprice it.
I would pay for the N64 games but I did not really get value when I subscribed. I did not play online gaming at all, or the NES/SNES games very much.
So I guess I would have to pay for those before I can pay and play the N64 titles.
I bit like buying a box of chocolates and only eating a few favourites.

No we have had enough Wii u ports. And with a Metascore of 69 the worst games are left until last.
Ok I get that Nintendo invented a duel screen console and so had to implement one as a part controller, and it failed.
If any one is still interested in Star Fox, then make a new one, it will be ready in four years. 😱
