Re: Rumour: Switch Successor Might Not Be Launching Until 2025

zool

This is no longer news. We all know there will be another console to replace the Switch, or not. And there are only 4 quarters in a year, so pick one, you have a 25% chance of being right.
But since we are a good way through this first quarter let's forget that and add next year's first quarter into the mix.
Apple Samsung and most other phone manufacturers can introduce a new model each but Nintendo can't provide us with an updated version every five years. I think Nintendo have forgotten their first and foremost a games company and not a film maker or theme park designer. They are not Disney.

Botw. An open world adventure game, with some optional shrine puzzles along the way. I completed it and only did about 50 shrines.

Totk. On the other hand is essentially 50% adventure and 50% puzzle.

My experience so far with Totk is that the Zelda adventure is let down by the puzzle element. In Totk the puzzles have taken over and detracted from the adventure. They have become essential to advance.

Nintendo changed Fire Emblem Three Houses by detracting from the original concept of the game. They have done it again.

And how many gamers who have completed the game can say hand on heart did not cheat. Not many I would guess.

This game was top of my Christmas list, but now it's not even in my top ten.

I don't really understand Nintendo's logic, but since they made this decision they have to stick to it until they can justify why the time is now right.

Nintendo should stop trying to please minorities, it turns to political.

Re: Backlog Club: July - If You Haven't Played Hollow Knight Yet, Here's Your Chance

Hollow Knight, good choice. I bought it last year and have attempted it quite a few times but just can't do it, so I end up leaving it for another day.

Is it ment to be bloody hard? Or am I missing a trick or three? And why no normal level?

The one thing it lacks is that just 'one more go' like many tough games have. It's more the controller is going out the window. 😬

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Warriors Games - Every Switch Musou Game Ranked

zool

I know these countdown lists are just a bit of fun but they should have at least a bit of logic to them.

Not every one has played all 15 in the list, I didn't even know there were that many, and more.

But Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity was given the number one spot with a NL score of 8. Ok fine, I never bought it but had thought about it, but it slipped below the radar, until now. Because I also thought about getting FE three hopes, which scored a 9.

Question, why is Three Hopes not number 1.

I believe the scores are embellished to keep Zelda at the top spot; because of its association with Botw, the holy grail of games. The one we have all heard about, but never seen.

Re: Random: Here's Why Nintendo Doesn’t Want You Using The Word "Nintendo" To Describe Video Games

zool

The PlayStation is only one of many different products in Sony's range, as is the Xbox to Microsoft's range. Nintendo really only has one product, a games console and each time they introduce a new console, they rebrand it by giving it a different name, Microsoft and Sony keep the same name, more or less.

This suggests to me that Nintendo tend to keep the name switch for any future consoles. Although the switch has sold a lot of units and is known worldwide, it's still not as well known as the name Nintendo. If someone said to you I'm going out to buy a new Microsoft or a new Sony. You wouldn't straight away know what they were going out to buy. It could be a TV, a computer laptop. It wouldn't automatically be a games console, but if you said I'm going out to buy a new Nintendo you would immediately think games console because they don't have any other products that would come to mind.

Nintendo should keep the name Nintendo in front of the console name switch Nintendo Switch. It hasn't got that many more letters than Microsoft, Xbox etc etc. Or Sony PlayStation 5.

Of of course there's another reason why Nintendo would like to drop the name Nintendo from its games console name, maybe, in the near future we will get mobile phones made by Nintendo so they want to keep the name Nintendo separate from the games console as do Microsoft &Sony.

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2: Everything We Know So Far

zool

@FroZtedFlakerZz I am not confused.

Botw2 is finished and is sitting on a shelf somewhere. Why? Only Nintendo know, but the most lightly reason is financial, or they are keeping it to launch on a new console.

Let's not forgot that the Switch is the least powerful console of the three and maybe it has been struggling to keep up with the old hardware.

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2: Everything We Know So Far

zool

@FroZtedFlakerZz sometimes to much is expected from a delayed game and gamers are left disappointed.

Five or six years is not rushed, I'd say Nintendo are dragging their feet. Most things have deadlines and they are they are there for a reason.

A delayed game is a delayed game, no one is working on it. If the game isn't broken then it's finished. Nintendo for their own reasons don't want it release yet. And that will be financial.

Re: Poll: C'mon Then, Did You Predict The Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2 Delay?

zool

I've always maintained one of two possibilities.

1. We won't see Botw2 until we see a more powerful Switch to play it on.

2. Botw2 was scrapped it was not good enough, They re started work on it a couple of years ago. Announcing another years delay gets them off the hook for the rest off 2022.

It would be good if we all forgot about the game.
But let's have a poll to vote if thats a good idea.

Re: Soapbox: Kirby Returns To Remind Us That Escapism Isn't A Dirty Word

zool

I was never sure a 3d Kirby was the way to go. But I was also disappointed when the hype died down and the pre-viewers wiped the proverbial egg off their face and realised it was the worst of both worlds, it wasn't 2d either.

It did look like the sort of game I could get lost in, have an adventure and some escapism and fun.

My thoughts so far are that Kirby is and belongs to the 2d gaming world. There are to many places you want to explore but are out of bounds. I been wandering around areas coming across collectables rather than looking for them, as the game seems to direct me where to go.
The games is fun while I'm playing it, but I have no great desire to return. I'm almost done with world 2, so maybe there will be enough variation in the other worlds to stop it feeling like more of the same.

This is one game that was made for the 3ds/2ds.

Re: Nintendo Highlights Upcoming N64 Releases In Latest 'Switch Online + Expansion Pack - Overview Trailer'

zool

@Wexter I said the N64 WAS not IS my favourite console. Much like watching a favourite old movie, it's not the same years later. N64 graphics have not held up as well as SNES graphics. There is not enough value in the The Switch Online Expansion Pack service for me, if there was I would consider it. And yes I'm not a fan of downloading games, you never own them and subscription is much the same, but if I wanted to play a game that didn't have a physical release I might download it.

You do miss the point of a lot of the discussions. I am not against Nintendo releasing ports, as well as a good selection of new stuff. But while these ports were being released, the new stuff was in short supply. Im sure you must have read the criticism about this at the time, not every one was pleased.

If you don't like the term loyal gamers then substitute if for older, long term, i dont like the direction Nintendo is going, or what ever gamer.

And lastly the Switch does not deliver enough Nintendo games for Nintendo players. I haven't done the maths, but I did read that they release less games for the Switch than the Wii u and the 3ds together.
I feel the same, you look for faults rather than points of agreement. And you fail to understand that Nintendo is not all things to all gamers.

Re: Nintendo Highlights Upcoming N64 Releases In Latest 'Switch Online + Expansion Pack - Overview Trailer'

zool

@Wexter YOU SAID. "I don't like subscriptions services therefore bad no matter how much Nintendo adds to it."

It would be better if you show where I said that and not paraphrase with your own words. As you do. Look at point 4. You listed, or should I say make up that as well.

N64 was my favourite Nintendo console and games. But I like many reviewers and other gamer are disappointed with the way the games were presented. And they, for me don't add value to the subscription. What you have done is misinterpreted everything.

Re: Nintendo Highlights Upcoming N64 Releases In Latest 'Switch Online + Expansion Pack - Overview Trailer'

zool

@Wexter you ask the most basic of questions, what is loyalty. Define a loyal fan. When I do, you come back with 'From what I can tell you are projecting your personal experience'. You didn't specify which loyal fan.

You sound like the most loyalist of fans, you are on the defensive when talking about Nintendo.

I prefer positive criticism rather than fan adoration.

Re: Nintendo Highlights Upcoming N64 Releases In Latest 'Switch Online + Expansion Pack - Overview Trailer'

zool

@Wexter most people understand the meaning of the word 'loyal' to some degree. There have been times when Nintendo had bad as well as good times and during the bad times I thought of getting a playstation but I stuck with them until things picked up and so I'm still here. But this time, these good times for Nintendo started with BotW and fans wanted more open world games, something Nintendo couldn't provide and still can't.The Switch just couldn't run the third party open world games well. But it could port all its previous consoles games to the Switch. The ones us loyal gamers had bought and played. Games the non loyal gamers never player when they deserted the Nintendo.

Last year is the closest I got it to hanging up my Switch for a PS5. Then Oled arrived. The best Oled games seem to be from third party developers. Nintendo games seem to have lost a lot of their appeal: there is enough 3rd party stuff to play on the Oled.
This is an example of loyalty from a fan not so loyal anymore.

@johnvboy you asked this question,
I live in the U.K and have the family expansion pack for £59.99 per year, which equates to £0.17 pence a day, how people can claim this is too expensive is beyond me.

I attempted to give an answer from my point of view.
Expensive and good value and can't afford can get confused with each other. For me it's simply not good value and I won't waste money, and I can see how some gamers see it as expensive. Maybe expensive for what's on offer.
