It seems the worst kept secret has finally been confirmed - Super Nintendo World is getting a Donkey Kong-themed "expansion" and it's set to open in 2024.

According to an official Nintendo press release, this new area will allow park guests to walk through "lush" jungles where Donkey Kong and his friends live. There'll also be a roller coaster, interactive experiences and lots of themed merchandise and food.

The same PR mentions how the addition of the new Donkey Kong area will increase Super Nintendo World in size by approximately 70%.

Here's what Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto had to say about the new expansion:

"I am very happy to be able to make the world of Donkey Kong a reality following the world of Mario. I am looking forward to creating a thrilling Donkey Kong experience with the amazing team at Universal. It will take some time until it is completed, but it will be a unique area for not only people who are familiar with Donkey Kong games, but for all guests."

This latest announcement follows on from the cast and release date reveal of the Super Mario animated movie during last week's Nintendo Direct. Are you excited about Donkey Kong getting his own themed area in Super Nintendo World Japan? Leave a comment down below.
