I wondered why a switched direct for Kirby air riders, and a 47-minute one at that. I am disappointed with the Mario Kart package, not necessarily the racing side of it but what they've packed in with it and the price they've charged for it.
Do I want Kirby air riders? Not really not at Switch 2 prices. As they used to say if I find it in the bargain bucket one day then maybe.
I very rarely play games twice, I buy physical games so that I can resell them or trade them in. I object to paying twice for a game anyway, and this is typical of Nintendo just to revamp whole games. Give them a fresh coat of paint and resell them again.
I didn't spend over £500 to play revamped games , and I expected a reasonable amount of new games to come with the console. Not everybody likes everything. Mario Kart was a disappointment and I've spent £65 on Donkey Kong because there wasn't much else and so far I'm not pleased with either.
I haven't bought Donkey Kong for the switch, I'm still considering whether to or not. I understand the people are feeling sick cuz I felt that way watching the reviews but I put that down to the reviewers not controlling their controllers properly and just whizzing around. Just saying.
I don't know. I bought a Switch 2 played Mario Kart until I got fed-up with it. I don't fancy Donkey Kong. Very poor line up of released games this time round.
@Duncanballs The scoring system is there for a reason you either accept or you don't accept. I would hope that the review is more than just a subjective view since the reviewer or critic has had the game to work through and pick out all the good points and the faults so we don't have to.
@johnedwin but so would NL. And maybe that is their job to be biased after all. They are 100% Nintendo. And they will score this game against other Nintendo games and not other games as a whole.
I look at three different sites Nintendo life being one of them and take the average of the three sites.
38/40 is equivalent to 95 out of 100. 95 does sound a low score for a top Nintendo game on a brand new console. We would be expecting 99 or 100. I know that Nintendo life will give the game 99 out of 100. But other sites may give a more realistic score. To me the demo did look more of a smash and grab game and not much else to it, unless you like collecting stuff.
It's very hard to justify paying out the price Nintendo are asking for the new games since they've added 30% increase to their previous game prices.
@Blaa my top Mario game has to be Super Mario 64. This game is crying out for a remake, include the existing levels (pictures) and add another dozen new ones.
I'm a solo player and a game like Mario Kart whereas it has got solo modes, it's really designed for multiplay hence the camera etc. With the more powerful switch, I am looking forward to some open world games. I bought every Nintendo console since the N64 and to be honest, a lot of the Mario type games have become rather clinical.
I have lost confidence in Nintendo, after probably the poorest console launch to date, with the shallowest bunch of original games on offer. Including a disappointing launch title. I am being extra cautious about committing to the new Donkey Kong. I know NL will give it a 9 or 10, but the real test will be the rest of the reviews. I have a feeling that the game will be great on graphics but repetitive on game play with a score of 7 or 8. With the new Nintendo pricing of Switch 2 games I will be more selective on what I buy. I hope the Nintendo direct will be telling us about all the new releases and when they're released. If there's anything else I favour more than Donkey Kong then I'll give Donkey Kong a miss.
We expect NL to score a Nintendo game high and it did, for obvious reason. But what is noticeable is that the first game for the long awaited new Switch only scored a 9 from NL, and a generous 9 at that.
I big error on Nintendo's part. But with the camera, chat and the extra characters, aiming the game at multi-play and not at the solo player, could be a mistake. Pushing for hardware £$ rather than software
But as many reviews said... Zelda open world it is not.
After Mario Kart 8 and it's years of additional tracks, I'd had enough of Mario Kart. But World did look promising so I bought the bundle with the game included. World is different enough to be ok. But not at the asking price. If Nintendo wants to charge these prices they have to do better. A score of 7 or 8 seems reasonable. Unless somewhere is giving a discount on Donkey Kong banana, I'll give it a miss. Not because I can't afford it but I don't think a Nintendo game is worth these new prices.
@roy130390 A direct is more like a newsletter to inform you about Nintendo. What's new? What's coming out in the future? And what's in the works at the moment? A commercial is just blatantly selling you something. A direct may have gone into a little bit more detail. Maybe to tell you how some of the gameplay works. But an Ape going around smashing things gives you no clue to what the gameplay is like.
My first Nintendo console was the N64 and I have bought every new console (including the ds & 3ds) at launch day since then. I never owned an Xbox or playstation, so that suggests some sort of loyalty on my part too Nintendo. But never again.
My attempt to pre-order the switch 2 from Nintendo was rejected, I didn't meet their criteria. Two other outlets said they I could pre-order but they wanted the full price in advance and if they didn't get enough consoles in. I'd get my money back after 10 days, The length of time they take to process a refund.
The switch 2 still lags behind the other two consoles and I'm not going to fork out £425 just to play Mario kart again, or pay to upgrade two Zelda games.
I'm not playing Nintendo's game. That's if you limit the amounts people will want one more. I'll wait 2 or 3 months until the shop shelves are stacked with them and they can't sell them.
Although I think the cost is a little bit High, it's still affordable for me. It's a shame they didn't make an OLED version as well. Somewhere down the line I'll probably get one. The main sticking point at the moment is the games, there's not enough choice.
Well Nintendo didn't concentrate on the switch 2 graphics, they added the c button and all that goes with it. Again, This might be fine for multiplayers once they've all spent more money on add-ons, but this does nothing for the solo player. When the switch 1 was released, it was released with Zelda, an ideal solo player game, Mario kart world is built for the multiplayer. Is it worth paying over £400 to play Mario kart and not much else, not really.
Tears of the Kingdom should have been released in 4K when it was released. And so should the Switch 2. I've played the game and I don't really want to pay out more to play the same game again.
I will buy Switch 2, and any new Switch 2 games that appeal to me, but there is not many that do that right now.
The long wait for the Switch replacement, for an upgrade to 4k is what we wanted and it's finally here. But the long wait built up expectations for something more than a graphics upgrade. Ok there are a few multiplayer gimmicks which don't really benefit us solo gamers.
Still better late than never, I suppose.
It depends on whether you look at a review by a reviewer or a critic criticising.
8 eight to me is a safe bet a reviewer would use this, a critic would either give it a nine or seven?
It's good to see a new Mario kart at last, better graphics. All new tracks sounds good except that it will be the same old same old new type of tracks but the same bananas etc.
Although they will look nice they will be very clinical. A new Mario kart needs a bit of interaction with the scenery and background. Make it a little bit more realistic. Maybe include a plane a boat etc.
But if the pundits are right and Nintendo, will be charging £70 per game. Mario kart may get a miss this time.
Nintendo should stick to what it used to do best, make games. Stop diverting into movies and theme parks, and concentrating on a better machine to play future games on. What Sony and Microsoft want they will get?
The 8 score is one of those that is neither good nor bad. But you're left to your own resources to work out should you get it, unless there was a demo.
Hypothetically, if reviewers couldn't use the eight, it would be interesting to know whether they would score the game as a seven or a nine.
Just saying.
@csward53 I thought I was making a valid criticism giving my opinion on what I think is wrong with three houses, but it seems I was talking to a child who likes the little stories.
I don't think I'll be playing anything, I want to buy I can't seem to get into anything, game wise.
I got Fire Emblem engage, Octopath traveller 2, and a few more new games hardly played, including Super Mario Bros wonder. Ive got Mario the thousand year door on order.
Any suggestions for a short game that I can download till the new Mario game arrives.
The Game has never been good value, not since it's high street competition was wiped out. Then CeX stole a lot of it's thunder. The one advantage Game has over CeX is that CeX don't sell new releases but Game are never competitive with new releases prices. The most you can expect is a free poster or keyring along with the full price game 🎮
@nocdaes if you want to be outraged I guess you have that right. If you want to buy a physical copy, that's a plan B. They may cost a big more if it's suddenly in demand. And if anyone wants my copy it's a bargain at £75.😄
With any game I feel that 'value for money' is an important consideration when giving it an accurate score. This is where I think this game fails slightly, for what it is it does seem to have a high price.
If you're desperate to play it now you'll pay the price otherwise you could wait till the price drops.

9/10. That's why Mario kart world shouldn't have been the main release game for switch 2. I would suggest an 8 out of 10.

There is a saying 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'' but Nintendo always does try and fix their games.
Would two expert chess players play a game with a Mario style chess set? No they wouldn't. Would you play a football game with a square ball, No.
Well don't pretend Three Houses is a Fire Emblem game.
