Yep. I think this was a great move because MK8 was basically the definitive version of all the Mario Karts that came before, so there was no place for an MK9 that did the same thing with just some new tracks.
This is the natural evolution of the series and fits it into the gaming landscape of 2025, with online hangout play for friends and a world to live in. Nintendo will have seen from animal Crossing (and minecraft/fortnite etc) that this is how kids want to play now and its frankly what they expect from their games now. It looks like an absolute blast.
as long as they're different i'm ok with it. Hall effect is not the only way to solve this problem its just as usual the internet ha got hung up one one idea being the be all and end all and decided for nintendo what they should be doing. I have faith nintendo have worked out another way.
They wont make another MK for like another 10 years likely so is it really that bad? I don't like paying £7.50 for a pint either but the reality is prices have gone up, and the yen is weak and the tariffs are about to get mad. It's not nintendo's fault everything is going up. They cant live in the 2010s just because you want them to..
@TomSupreme Don't think there isn't a need for a minecraft movie, but there isn't a need for THIS clueless version of a minecraft movie made with a bunch of actors young kids have literally never heard of and are old enough to be their grandparents, ha.
They've done this before which would have been lovely- I remember seeing sketches of Mario levels from miyamoto himself in the NYC store back in 2014, so its a shame that they haven't got any of this.
Utter morons. How can the takeout from making the best selling single player game of 2023, the first to beat Call of Duty in like a decade I might add, making well over a billion quid, to be to convert it to a failed live service like Suicide Squad, which has like 400 players on steam.
These execs have never played a game in their lives. I'm just sad that Hogwarts Legacy will be the only good Harry Potter game i'll probably ever play. Let's cherish it. What a crying, crying shame.
Don't see how on the one hand analysts keep telling us video games are the biggest growing industry in the world, and then saying no, no growth possible with Switch. Have they not seen the success of the Mario movie?
Nintendo has the most valuable IP in all of gaming, and ever other investor like Embracer are just destroying the value of their IP. They'll be fine. We're three theme parks deep already.
I'm old enough to remember the days when no games came to Nintendo systems, so although I know the majority is shovelware, at least developers are bothering to port to Nintendo.
We're just not there yet internet speed wise, everyone's spec is wildly different and everyone lives different differences from exchanges. One day this will be the way we play, but it's just a few years early right now.
Having said that, the more they keep trying, the more the infrastructure will improve. Eventually we'll be playing RDR2 on the London Underground on the iPhone 17!
Realistic Lighting, is more important than resolution, or framerate IMO. I wish the next generation would just stick with 1080, or even 1440 and go for amazing ray tracing, rather than worry about getting to 4k and the lighting being the same because all the CPU is being wasted on that.
Movies don't look better in higher resolutions and higher frame rates (anyone seen the Hobbit!?) it's all about the lighting. Can't wait until developers really find the sweet spot with the ray tracing hardware we now all have access to.

Re: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 Has Been Butchered For The Switch Remake
a nonsensical decision, all that is going to cause is a ton of headlines like this and outrage online, and then lower sales. what an own goal.
Re: Opinion: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Looks Cool, But It's Lacking Arceus' Unique Style
How can they not just do decent graphics, still? Remember GTA V came out on PS3, there really is no excuse!

Re: UK Charts: Civilization VII Starts Strong, Switch Version Outsells PC And Xbox

Funny how everyone talks about PlayStation and Xbox as the main platforms but the Switch just quietly keeps printing money. It’s the real no.1!

Let the good times continue with Super Switch.
Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Has Reportedly Helped Boost Japan's GDP
18.5m x £60 a pop on average and we’re talking just over a billion quid just on one game.
Mario movie probably hasn’t hurt either!
Nintendo’s had a SOLID year….
Re: Random: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Lego Ideas Set Qualifies For Official Review
Not the best I've ever seen, as others say, very grey. Don't think this will make it to production, but hopefully an official Zelda set soon!

I want a Mario snowman.
Re: Random: The New Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Trend Is Drawing Pictures With A Pile Of Swords
Still the greatest open world ever made. It’s not even close. It’s genuinely open.
The physics system just holds up no matter what you throw at it- I’ve never seen anything like it.

Re: Nintendo Shows Off Splatoon 3's 'Eeltail Alley' And That Awesome Crab Tank
Don't get me wrong, I love Splatoon, but I just don't understand how Nintendo have given us 3 Splatoons and still no new Mario Kart in the same time.
It's time Nintendo!
Re: Deiland: Pocket Planet Edition Crafts Its Way Onto Switch Next Month
There are just too many copies of the same formula now.
Fish, Farm, Mine, Chop Trees, Sleep, Repeat.
Can anyone think of a new mechanic to add to the mix? No-one seems brave enough to try something new.
Whoever does I think will reap the rewards and stand out.
