Re: Rayman Legends Will Support Co-Op Across Two Separate Nintendo Switch Systems

tjhiphop

So one person could be playing on the TV, and then a friend could join in using their Switch in handheld mode? It wouldn't be of particular use in Rayman Legends (since it would be easier to just both use the TV screen) but if this could be implemented in Fire Emblem Warriors, then it could act in the same way as the two-screen co-op in Hyrule Warriors on Wii U. The downside being that you need to own two systems instead of just one, the upside being the framerate and image quality won't take a serious hit.

@EternalDragonX If a 'ton of content' to you is like 3 different Link outfits that only offer aesthetic enhancements to gameplay, then yes, they did lock a ton of content behind Amiibo.

Wolf Link is the only substantial thing you need an Amiibo for, but it's still kind of hard to call that 'content'. It's just a neat, albeit slower way of hunting/attacking without having to do anything.

Re: Deals: Nintendo Switch Upcoming Goodies For March And April

tjhiphop

I have the Switch Everywhere Messenger Bag and I would definitely recommend it. For £25 I got a handy way to store all of the Switch components in a compact space. While the strap could be a bit longer, I don't imagine it's the type of thing I will be carrying around that often. It also comes with a Carrying Case inside, which go for like £15 on their own. It's a very basic case, there's no room for anything else but the Switch with joy-cons attached, but it keeps it safe and secure in my bag, which is all I need.

As for the other accessories, I like the look of the Hori charging station, but I'll wait until I get a second pair of joy-cons, which will be once I get Mario Kart and can find them for cheap.

I won't be getting Mario Kart at launch, £40 is too much just for battle mode, even if battle mode looks really good. LEGO City Undercover will be my April game. Wanted it on Wii U for the longest time, but the loading times put me off. It's still a shame though, the Switch port will improve the loading times but will also lose gamepad functionality, so it's hard to call it the definitive version.

Re: Iwata Was Watching Over Us, Says Zelda: Breath Of The Wild's Director

@Simbabbad It would probably be less acceptable to release a sub-HD game in 2017.

I also think it's quite disrespectful to, firstly, devalue the hard work of 100s of people over several years, and also to say that these people, who knew Iwata, worked with Iwata, were close friends with Iwata, didn't honour his memory correctly because you think you know better.

@BinaryFragger Feels like kind of a reverse Ultra Smash if anything. Lots of content, but mediocre gameplay. Whereas Ultra Smash had well executed gameplay but almost no content to make use of it.

Re: Poll: Nintendo Switch Countdown - Less Than a Week to Go, Is the Hype Building?

@RainbowGazelle "If Mario Kart 8 didn't make Wii Us fly off the shelves, why would it randomly do that for the Switch?"

Such a dumb argument. You could apply that to pretty much every game that ends up being released (aside from something like Pokémon, which Wii U never had) on Switch. So therefore, no Nintendo console for the rest of time can ever be successful, because Wii U wasn't.

Re: Guide: Nintendo Switch Launch Games & Release Dates 2017

@Yasume A game is a game. They all matter and they all count. If you have to make a herculean goal post moving effort for you argument to make any sense, you've lost. Even if Xenoblade does eventually get delayed, you can't assume that now. Yooka Laylee will definitely release this year, that's just sensible.

Re: Talking Point: Important Features Yet to be Revealed for the Nintendo Switch

tjhiphop

@therealgamer It's not a simple to task to just "put the Wii U eShop on the Switch". It's rather impossible, really. The only reason the 3DS eShop contains the DSiWare store is because 3DS is entirely backwards compatible with DS/DSi. Switch will not be backwards compatible with Wii U due to irreconcilable architecture differences, so the Wii U eShop cannot be ported over easily.

Re: 3D Platformer Clive 'N' Wrench No Longer Leaping Onto Wii U

@yoshinatsu Switch was only announced somewhat recently. My guess is that these indie devs did not have access to the console before the reveal, and despite rumours, could not be sure how quickly the Wii U was going to be phased out. With the positive reaction to Switch, they probably spent the last month or so in the process of deciding whether they should still release for Wii U/speaking with Nintendo to see if they would be able to release on Switch.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Will Rely on Switch Word of Mouth Due to Strange Presentation Timing

tjhiphop

When you're spanning 19 hours of time zones, it's impossible to satisfy all 3 major continents. Since the conference is being hosted in Japan, and it is live, it makes sense that Japan gets the nod this time. American times are reasonable for the most part.

Also, considering this is the 21st century, 'word-of-mouth' (which now equates to social media) is now the most effective and important method of communicating news.

Re: Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS Enjoys Stronger Japanese Launch Than Wii U Original

@UK-Nintendo But is it not grating when someone's opinion is always front and centre, always snarky, and always negative? Silgeach's presence on Nintendo Life does nothing to bring happiness to anyone's existence. Now, that's fair enough, it's not his job to make people happy, but you can see why some people will be annoyed.

You're right that everyone has their own opinion. If someone's opinion is that he's annoying, he/she should also be entitled to that opinion.

Re: Nintendo Appears at Apple Conference to Announce Super Mario Run

tjhiphop

@AhabSpampurse C'mon, try harder. Who would want this? The millions upon millions of people who know who Mario is, but don't own a current gen Nintendo platform.

Nintendo is obviously making another 'real' Mario game, almost definitely with a different development team, so this won't impact on that at all.

Runners (NOT Endless Runners, mind you) can be fun. I think BIT TRIP RUNNER and Runner 2 got fairly universal acclaim, right?

If all goes to plan, this microtransaction-free title will give more money to Nintendo and encourage more people to buy Mario games so that future titles have a higher budget.

Now, that's probably the best case scenario, and there are some potential pitfalls, but this stuff is way off in the future. As of right now, your concerns don't exactly hold water.

Re: A Samus Costume Was Almost in the Wii U Axiom Verge Port

tjhiphop

@Phin68 Because, funnily enough, when Bayonetta cosplays as Princess Peach or Link (or even Samus, y'know, in case we forget that Nintendo is actually cool with letting other characters dress as Samus) she doesn't actually look like those characters. She still is Bayonetta.

In a pixel-art game such as this, a Samus costume would be tantamount to just playing as Samus, and since Axiom Verge is the same genre as Metroid, it would look exactly like a Metroid game.

It is insane to think that you would compare Axiom Verge to Bayonetta 2.

It's also insane to think that ANYONE AT ALL would be upset about this.
