The new European Nintendo Download Update is upon us, but official details have been slow to arrive; our thanks to the lovely Daan Koopman for his help, as we've brought the details together through a mix of looking through the eShop manually and a German press release. Apologies for the mix and match of currencies in the discount sections, too; all offers apply to both UK and EU mainland.
This week brings five tempting releases on the Switch eShop, a couple of options on Wii U, a HAL Laboratory release and others on the 3DS, and a release on Mobile. On top of that there's a 'Nindies Celebration Sale' on Wii U and 3DS that has some rather tempting deals, along with some other standard discounts. Let's get to it.
Nintendo Switch eShop
Has-Been Heroes (Frozenbyte, €24.99 / £19.99) - A bit of a departure from the Trine days, this is a side-on roguelike strategy title with the premise that heroes past their prime have one final quest to fulfil. We'll die a lot and let you know what we think in a review. [Update: Now due on 4th April in Europe]
World of Goo (Tomorrow Corporation, €9.99 / £8.99) - A title (at that point released by 2D Boy) that helped define the WiiWare service, this is a clever physics puzzler in which you tackle various stages by building and rearranging goo-based structures to avoid danger. This will include the soundtrack to listen to at any time, along with various control options; we'll bring you a review soon.
Little Inferno (Tomorrow Corporation, €9.99 / £8.99) - A peculiar premise that originally arrived as a launch day title on the Wii U eShop. You selectively burn a combination of items to solve puzzles, all to reach a typically quirky ending. This will include the soundtrack to listen to at any time, along with various control options; we'll bring you a review soon.
Human Resource Machine (Tomorrow Corporation, €9.99 / £8.99) - The studio's most recent release blends that trademark satire and humour with a unique approach to puzzles; the central premise draws inspiration from programming / coding, so requires logic and careful thought from players across its 38 puzzles. This will include the soundtrack to listen to at any time, along with various control options; we'll bring you a review soon.
Neo Turf Masters (HAMSTER, €6.99 / £6.29) - Our own Damien McFerran reckons this is "one of the best golf games ever made", so there. Its large, screen-filling sprites, great music and instantly addictive gameplay made it a hit in arcades, and now you can see what all the fuss is about on your Switch. It has local multiplayer, and this 'ACA' edition will have online leaderboards and the usual Neo Geo goodies.
Wii U eShop
Six Sides of the World (Cybernetik Design, €4.99 / £4.50) - Released on PC in early 2016, this is an interesting puzzle game in which you navigate around three-dimensional cubes, dodging dangers to get to an end goal. It's big on logic and spatial awareness, so we'll put ourselves to the test and let you know what we think.
Sudoku Party (Lightwood Games, €4.99 / £4.50 or free if you own the 3DS version) - There ain't no party like a Sudoku Party, according to some well-known socialites. Ok, so we made that up, but this offering does include 1000 puzzles and a multiplayer mode in which you can take on an opponent (locally or online) to show off your Sudoku prowess. For fans of these puzzles this is surely rather tempting.

SubaraCity (CIRCLE Entertainment, €3.99 / £3.89) - At its core this is a game where you match coloured blocks, with the twist being that your combinations and actions level up buildings to create a city. It could be a fun little diversion, so we'll let you know what we think in a review.

Super Mario Run (Nintendo, free download with €9.99 / £9.99 unlock for full game) - Mario has finally completed the crossover to Android Mobile. 'Play with one hand' is the core concept, with three modes on offer to keep players busy; we rather enjoyed it in our Super Mario Run review.
That's the line-up for this week's Nintendo Download Update in Europe. Let us know what you plan to download in the poll and comments below.

Anyone knows when Isaac A+ will be available? And what's the price for that digital download?
Europe Download being moved to Thursday has ruined the starts of my weeks! How else am I supposed to cure the Monday blues now!?
Anyway. I will finally get round to trying World of Goo later!
The large sale and arrival of Has-Been Heroes on Tuesday makes this a thoroughly decent week on the eShop. One thumb up!
@ultek If I'm not mistaken there is no date yet, but they just announced that it will be out on eshop + physical release in Europe simultaneously.
That's probably why we have to wait for the digital download.
And for this week... Damn, do I really have to take back my 3ds ? I grew accustomed to my Switch screen...
Dats a lotta sales! Bit unsure on whether to grab too many on the Wii U in case they eventually make the Switch; although probably will grab Axiom Verge as been wanting to play it. Could be a fairly expensive week on the eShop.
Does RE Revelations still have dead zone issues on Wii U?
@ultek Available for what? Switch? If so, it's been out since the 17th.
£20 for Has-Been Heroes is a joke.
@roadrunner343 but not digital in europe..
I still have a LOT of Zelda to complete and have barely played Fast RMX and Blaster Master (as well as having Snipperclips, KOF 98 and Shock Troopers), so do not need to download anything else yet. That said, who doesn't love a backlog these days,?! I'll probably get the three Tomorrow Corp games, Neo Turf Masters and maybe even Has-Been Heroes if it's any good!
Boring Week for me. I have played world of goo 9 years ago in Wii. Hopefully there will be something interesting next Week besides 20 year old neo geo games.
I'm getting Bye-Bye BOXBOY! Let's see how hard the last puzzles are this time.
Weird that the Tomorrow Corporation games arrived later than in the US, but mostly annoyed by the fact that these years old games aren't available as a 3-pack for a discounted price. That would've made it so much more attractive.
As for Has-Been Heroes, I'm surprised by the fact it's $19,99, but 19,99 in the UK and 24,99 in Europe. For me, that's a tough pill to swallow. I'll just wait for Snake Pass.
Well that was extremely disappointing
I think I want to see a review for Has Been Heroes first at that price…
Also, why are the prices all over the place? Some are in Pounds only, some are in Euros only? Are the sales region based?
@ultek Wondering the same. So disappointing! T_T
Panic sale for Picross e7 ahead of Pic-a-Pix Colour coming out next week
@roadrunner343 only for america... -_-
BoxBoy for me even though ive yet to start the 2nd one, A few of the sales interest me too.
@Zimon I may or may not have overlooked the fact that this was a Europe article XD
I've already played World of Goo and Little Inferno but I couldn't resist buying all three Tomorrow Corporation games right away. First time playing Human Resource Machine so looking forward to that.
Also getting Has-Been Heroes but I'll be picking up a physical copy when it releases in Australia on April 4th. The delay kinda sucks but gives me more time to play the games I already have plus Snake Pass before then so that's okay.
I think I may pick Up Rune Factory 4.
Maybe not this week but i think ill at least get World of Goo. Kinda interested in Little Inferno but i dont see lighting stuff up as very entertaining. At least virtually^^
And Has been Heroes i havent played those kind of games before. Havent even got a feeling how it feels to play. Trailer doesnt reach me.
Gonna try those at some point in time if theres nothing to play.
@SilentHunter382 Do it, it's great.
Super Bomberman R has been available via the eShop for AU$65 since launch, and they've now jacked it up to its full retail price of AU$89.95 (in Japan, Super Bomberman R shares the same cheaper retail price as 1-2 Switch).
Imagine if Nintendo flooded the eShop with Virtual Console games like Hamster does; a dream scenario at this point, right?
Great Wii U discounts. Not good for the Switch.
What's with the price of Has Been Heroes? ...they are taking the biscuit if they think they can get away with that pricing disparity!
I was tempted to get World of Goo... but a bundle would make it so much more tempting. As it stands I might just save my money and hope that Snake Pass is good.
Picked up little inferno, love it already.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE why would there already be discounts on the switch?
WOW! That is a ton of discounts, on a good number of quality indie games, too.
@FX102A I'd recommend waiting on Resident Evil Revelations, there's a remaster coming to XB1 and PS4. There's a chance it could come to Switch.
@NickOfTime90 I think he meant not a good week overall, not just discount wise
So it looks like I have to set up a US nintendo account to get the best prices now.
@FX102A I'll second what @Grumblevolcano said : the devs for Axiom Verge are, waiting for the approval from Nintendo. As soon as they are greenlit they'll start porting. So if you have a large backlog you can wait a few months... but if you want to play Axiom Verge before 2018, maybe stick to the Wii U ?
source : https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2017/03/axiom_verge_team_still_awaiting_approval_for_nintendo_switch_release
DO NOT BUY AFFORDABLE SPACE ADVENTURES! #awful
Can you use normal controls in world of goo, or is it just pointer controls ?
I may get (for Wii U):
SteamWorld Heist
Severed
Pixeljunk Monsters
Stealth Inc 2
Vektor Wars
ok here we go switch VC at last!!!! ....what the fffff....
Tomorrow Corp are having a laugh with those prices, £5 and i'd have been there
@617Sqn you can also play with the touchscreen. I can't access the menu with the joysticks though... that means there is NO pro controller support !
That kinda sucks.
Edit : I launched World of Goo with the pro controller. Once on the menu, the pro controller just turned itself off, and I can't go back to the Switch menu without getting up, taking the switch out of the dock, or syncing up a Joy-Con.
Just like it was with Blaster Master 0 before the pro controller update. This needs to be resolved by Nintendo. Maybe stop the switch from launching games that aren't working with the controller / settings (why is Voez even launching in TV mode) ?
Rune Factory 4 doesn't seem to be discounted... Mistake or it's just for mainland Europe and not UK?
@ultek I downloaded it via the USA eshop . You have make a Nintendo USA account with a different email from your current one. Make sure you say that you are living in the USA and use the same account to make a new profile on your Switch and then buy some US eshop credit from Play Asia 😀
It will say 3ds and Wii u Credit when you purchase but it will work. Use the tax code 03222 when asked as it is tax free.It worked out costing around 36 pounds. The game will be accessible from any profile.Let me know how you get on if you pursue this as this took ages to write 😀
I am getting Box Box Boy as the first 2 are amazing although disappointed at no western amiibo release. Still grinding through Zelda on Switch which is excellent but still nothing else on the Switch that really floats my boat. Mass Effect is in the front seat this weekend though. Really enjoying the game and the well known issues make me laugh rather make me want to abuse people over the internet.
Good week. World of Goo and Turf Masters for me.
@NickOfTime90 I don't mean discounts for Switch games. I mean look at its releases again this week. 3 games a lot of us have already bought and played on Wii and Wii U. A 20 year old VC game, Hamster are churning these NEO GEO games out because they're cheap and easy to port plus they make a tidy profit. That just leaves Has-Been Heroes. I loved Frozenbyte's previous work on the Trine series but this looks much simpler in terms of graphics at least.
Edit:
Trine 2: Director's Cut on Wii U.
Has-Been Heroes on Switch.
I want to buy resident evil but I'm out of memory.
Nintendo neo geo switch
Ah, pounds! Since I am living in the majority of Europe (so outside of England) I love that!
Waiting for SteamWorld Heist and Axiom Verge to come to Switch
Probably should buy something this week since by next Thursday my entire life savings could be worth 26p.
Gunman Clive I'm looking at you.
@AcridSkull I don't know if there'll be a Heist port on Switch anytime soon though. I think they are way too deep into Dig 2 to keep porting their last game.
Well, I already knew this week would be lack luster. Hoping next week will be much better though. Nothing for me.
Been waiting on sales for Steamworld Heist, Crimson Shroud, and SEVERED but I have three N3DS XLs and one N3DS but none of them are European :[
Also got the physical bundle of the three BOXBOY games for my JP N3DS XL so an empty week for me. Will check out reviews for Has-Been Heroes as it's been on my radar for quite some time but might go physical either way.
Is world of goo a different version to what's on iPhone/iPad? It's £3 there. This seems way overpriced to pay £9. I'd pay £9 for all three tomorrow corp games
Rune Factory 4 totally flew under my radar and I forgot that it even got released in Europe. Now is the time to pick it up I guess.
@ThomasBW84 None of the XSEED games seems to be actually discounted, so I guess that is a mistake.
Clever move by the Indies to have a sale of their Wii U stuff. Try and eke a few more pennies out of it while a few stragglers still care. Hope it works, anybody who supported Wii U deserves a bit back.
(Though I wont be buying, mines in the garage/gym and may be getting sold soon).
@subpopz I suppose that, if you are a Nintendo fan, you already own other systems. I mean, what other gamers will buy Switch at launch anyway?
Who buys any system at launch?
Diehard fans.
@Meuz Why?
Metal Slug 3 is awesome to play with another person on switch for y'all who don't like this week's list
Picking up the Tomorrow Corp trilogy
Nothing for me. Some interesting discounts but already got most of the ones I'm interested in.
BYE-BYE BOXBOY for me!
I would have got Half-genie Hero, but I'm out of money.
@BenAV tell me about it!! Was looking forward to playing that this weekend.. atleast I grabbed Binding of Isaac from the US to tide me over.
Let us know what you think of Snake Pass! Would love to grab it eventually.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE yep! Great prices for a dead console that is also 4 years old.
Nothing wrong with the Switch lineup? Some classic games and a new release. Has-Been Heroes looks hell fun.
Not a bad week for the Wii u really. I'll grab odd world and maybe severed to pad out my Wii u backlog buffer as i wait for reasons to buy a switch 😉
Dont know what to buy, its all so good. I think Ill buy a second switch just to be sure.
Thanks again, Nintendo..hooooomerun...finally silenced all these crazy people...now you showed them. VISA servers breaking down.
On the other hand, you got 3 months before this fisher price joke is officially the scientogy of videogaming
Level-5's Guild anthology counting as independent production? Weird. (but I'm all for a discount if more people buy them)
@Amsterdamsters Because it's nowhere near worth that much. Frozenbyte can't afford to make a new Trine game so they make this garbage and sell it at 400% what it's worth just to make a quick buck. No one should support this game.
@Meuz It's $20, that's less than a movie ticket and concession. Unless you know that the game is horrible, then I don't see a problem with the price. I'm planning in picking up the physical release at Game Stop.
Er @ThomasBW84 Has Been Heroes isn't released until 28th March. . . . er. . .
@sandman89 Affordable Space Adventures is an amazing game. One of the best on the WiiU. Don't believe him when he says it's bad.
NL gave it an 8
https://www.nintendolife.com/reviews/wiiu-eshop/affordable_space_adventures
I think it's worth a 9 though but that's just my opinion.
@Retron No Nintendo fan site lists Australian pre-order lists or sales lists. They just don't give a care about us.
Can anybody translate @ironside1911's post into English? Thanks in advance.
I can't believe people are actually happy about these sales- they are a joke
Uncharted 4 is currently 14.99 on ps store and I picked up the rather excellent oxenfree on iPad for less than 5 quid. Nintendo knock 2.50 off a game and its like- wow now I'm picking it up 🤔
Hopefully we get the download-update earlier next week. I always watch the update on this site a few days before I go to the shops. That way I know if I need a new e-shop card or not.
Still waiting for better indie games on the Switch.
@ThomasBW84: Forget my comment about the XSEED Games games from yesterday. According to the list (which I sent you earlier today) those games should go on sale sometime today. There were no discounts on them when I checked a few hours ago though.
More importantly, Has-Been Heroes has been delayed by a week in Europe: https://twitter.com/Frozenbyte/status/844987789368315905
RE: Revelations is a steal at that price....best 3DS shooter, IMO.
So the only new game has been delayed... lol, great!
Those Phoenix Wright discounts are good, and I believe this is the first time Corpse Party has been on sale on the eShop. I know it's been released for a number of other formats - is the 3DS version worth it?
What's up with Corpse Party? I checked the eShop on Thursday after the update but it was still up for the full price and was not mentioned in the discounts section at all. Is it region specific? I live in the Nordic countries.
@Nego Try checking again. Some other people were reporting the same thing earlier but I had a look on Friday and the discount was showing for me.
I just bought all three Ace Attorney games on the sale with 50% off. Always thought Nintendo games were unreasonably overpriced, but these sales off justify it. I prefer catridges over digial, but sadly some games get digital release only even though in Japan they are on catridges. Sadly couldn't get Corpse Party and RF4 as I had limited respources haha...
