Given how some Switch owners have found they are getting scratches on their screen by docking normally (though not necessarily carefully), the method shown above is not advised. Of course it's about as convincing as when old Biff Tannen tosses the Grays Sports Almanac to his younger self in 1955's Back to the Future II.
Still, if you want to see more Switch abuse - and see how tough the little thing is - the full video from the guys at GizmoSlip makes for an entertaining watch. Jugglin' Josh still managed to pull off some epic trick shots.
Would you treat your Switch in such a way? No, is probably the answer.

Fake! This is so obviously visible, not even funny.
Just check the animation sequence when the console is about the hit the dock.
The arc of motion suddenly changes sharply downwards. This is clearly edited.
You can see the edit, FAKE NEWS!
Fake and *** as RWJ would say.
Wow ! This is incredibly stupid !
"Would you treat your Switch in such a way? No, is probably the answer."
Possibly, if I owned one.
Nah. I'm joking.
Steph Curry docks his Switch from beyond the 3 point line!* (*probably!)
Well, this seems to be the kind of stuff we're going to be getting for a while now, in between the daily dose of Zelda BotW and NeoGeo.
The next few weeks are going to be a drag.
Wow that's amazing..... If it was actually done. You can clearly see that it's edited.
Gosh...
Treat your Switch nicely !
Lighten up folks!
There is one thing to take from the video,the Switch can take a real beating.If it did have a glass screen,no way would it have withstood all that.
Fake? Really? No...

If anything, this decadent treatment is a testimony to Nintendo's hardware durability. Painful to watch, but re-ensuring this system is built to last. Reminds me of these Nokia 3310 throwing contests I had with some friends.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE so now we know where all this bitterness comes from...
My friend drop her Samsung Galaxy 6 Edge less than 5 feet on a tile floor accidentally and the back crack, they literally use their switch as a frisbee and the only thing to come out is the kickstand which can be popped back in. Points for durability.
It was nice of them to show that part of the trick that is a gif, is a fake at the end of the video (7:36). There are those that would leave it as is.
@setezerocinco I don't own one by choice. I could easily buy one but there's only Zelda worth playing and I'm currently doing that on Wii U. The Switch has a tonne of issues, Nintendo have irked me with how they handled Wii U, I'm not getting scalded again at launch. I'll wait a while and buy one in a year or 2 when everything is ironed out, price is reduced, VC is there, has proper 3rd party support, maybe has a New Switch XL with improvements released by then, has a proper catalogue of games, etc, etc, etc.
Guys they know it's fake, it says as much in the article, no need to repeat it in the comments.
It's amusing to me people are quick to comment how the highlighted clip is faked when the article clearly suggests that in the first place.
But more interestingly is that some of the tricks in the full length video are actually impressive, especially the ease of the juggling. I've seen Josh perform live and he is very good at what he does.
Someone else has spotted Biff in Back to the Future 2 throwing the sports book thank god lol
I'm very impressed Switch survived all these drops and was still fully functional! Console throwing apart, background music made this video VERY hard to watch...
@SLIGEACH_EIRE Don't get me wrong, you have a negative tone in many of your posts... but I'm not sure why you get so much hate. The points you've made are valid, and it's your choice to wait until later on in the Switch's life cycle, so more power to you. I've been more than happy with my switch so far (Just got my repaired joy-con back, that was a bit of a drag) and it's hard for me to explain just how much I love being able to go from the TV to portable so seamlessly. I knew I would like that feature, but I didn't realize just how much I would love it.
Hey look, we got our 15 minutes of fame by throwing around the one thing some people can't get their hands on!
Next.
@KiWiiU_Freek Videos like this are definitely valuable to consumers. It should definitely put to rest most fears one would have about the durability of the device, especially with such a large, unprotected screen.
Fake, you can tell the video has been edited.
Well it's more publicity for the Switch I guess...
Its real as you can clearly see in the slow-mo shot, not sure why anyone would fake it as you would see the edit.
Would I? Yes. I have ten of them.
Did CNN post this video?
I'll just be like the rest of them and comment here how the video is fake, even though I never watched the video and only looked at the GIF.
Could people just watch the video before the make a comment like that? They tell you it was fake at the end of the video, so yes, it is fake.
These same people are the only who share articles on Facebook just from reading the headline title and not actually reading the article.
@roadrunner343 He gets all the hate because there could be an article asking "do you prefer red or green?" and he'd come in bashing the Switch, implying owners are stupid for buying one and defending the wiiu.
@Menchi187 Which is an extreme exaggeration. Sure, a bunch of his posts have a negative tone, but even when he's positive, everyone jumps all over him. And at least here, where it's clear he still has a negative opinion, he articulated his opinion without senseless bashing.
@banacheck Exactly, it's so simple to confirm this is real by skipping to the 7:40 mark in the video... no wait, that's where they confirmed it was fake. My bad.
FAKE NEWS! Sad.
Guyz, I'm telling you this was shopped! I can tell by the pixels!
Funny gif stupid story
He's a great juggler but I have little patience for YouTubers that waste food or abuse electronics. It's like spitting at the less fortunate.
"...this has been your Mii News report."
@SLIGEACH_EIRE @roadrunner343 If Slig's comments in all threads were as the ones posted here he wouldn't be getting so much heat from so many people.
Nobody would fault your reasoning here nor the desire to wait based on feeling burned on WiiU, it's a well reasoned and easily understandable post. It's just that in so many posts, it comes across as though you're on a crusade to convince as many people as possible to abandon Switch and Nintendo, that it's not a valid choice of console and that everyone who likes/wants it is wrong.
It makes for a lousy (and generally inflammatory) conversation that spawns nothing but arguments and backlash, and just seems like sour grapes all the time.
If you want to want one in a year or two, then there's no reason not to appreciate the enthusiasm from others for the machine now that will help make it successful to the point you want one.
You're not the only one on this site that comes across as trollish more times than not that technically isn't trying to be....there's enough real trolls, nobody needs skeptical/cautious fans to sound like one too! If we want that we'll go to IGN/Kotaku/GameFaqs.
Yeah, that looks edited to me.
Heh, funny.
I wish I could actually do that though.
"Would you treat your Switch in such a way?"
Well I suck at photoshop and video editing, so...
And some people would prefer a screen made of glass? Even if not throwing and juggling around, accidents do happen and kids do use the console probably a lot. Accidents on smart phones... Not as kind on their glass screens. Nintendo's consoles have always been very resistant, so this was a good decision on their part, I think. Besides, you can get a tempered glass protector for the glassy feel if you like.
Well it looks pretty good, but yeah the amount of precision required to land that...you'd have a pretty banged up console from all the failed attempts.
What a load of old tosh.
@Menchi187 so true, doesn't matter where you go all you see is him moaning over and over, very boring. I think he enjoys it though, obviously doesn't have anything better to do in life.
@WiX
True about the tempered glass. I bought one at launch on Amazon. However, despite it getting glowing reviews, mine ended up in the trash. The Switch's right side gets warm enough that it eventually looses it's adhesive and begins to bubble off. Maybe in a few months they'll figure it out, but for now I've encouraged people to stay away from them.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE For once, I'm in the same boat as you. I bought a PS4 just before Switch launch, with the intent to enjoy Zelda on Wii U and buy a Switch later. I should probably cut myself off from saying this anymore, though. I feel like enough people have seen me post this, as this must've been the third time I've done so on this site. I'd rather it not be the new SCamiibo post...
@MoonKnight7
Oh, did not know that could happen. Thank you for the information. I don't have a Switch yet but plan on getting one immediately when I'm able, so it's good to hear about these kinds of issues before buying everything. Hopefully when I finally get one, the hardware and these kinds of add-ons have improved a bit to take into account some of the issues (like left JoyCon). Did you come up with a different solution yourself for the screen protection? I was thinking if the soft pieces inside the dock would be a good idea, even though I will certainly be careful when docking - not sure if the Switch would even leave from the dock that much
Awesome I guess that their Switch took that beating with just scratches..
but do they live in an RV park? Are they on vacation? Do they tour the country throwing around for a living? I have a hundred questions about what I just watched that have nothing to do with juggling or the Switch.
These are those moments when I sit in my office on a Friday, watch a video like this, look out my window and question my life choices. lol
..over here!...
. . I'm wide open!..
My heart leapt into my throat watching that.
Actually they didn't break it after all that, also pretty cool the console actually lines up more or less correctly even when they throw it in the dock. Like seriously the quality of that console is like crazy.
Like this one is just so insane:
https://youtu.be/qG4ihWOEtpA?t=2m42s
If anybody did this to my Switch (or any of my devices to be honest), they'd find themselves in the deepest circle of Hell pretty quickly.
Lol, I have a soft spot in my heart for this stuff. Great juggles and "behind the back throw" into the dock! (The front throw is the real one! ) Y'all are just jelly about their mad trick throwing skills.
@MoonKnight7 Which company's tempered glass?
That video is the greatest promotion the console has yet received.
@NaviAndMii Me and one other person on this site know who you're talking about.
@ultraraichu Uh oh, tell your friend to be careful! Dropping a Samsung product is like dropping a jar full of nitroglycerin.
@NEStalgia The reflection in the TV at around 2:38 is a dead giveaway, even without the end of video curtain reveal.
@bluedogrulez So then how do you feel about the people who get paid to destroy consoles for Nintendo's own durability tests, or for third-party ratings like UL or Consumer Reports? It's basically just a more-scientific version of what these guys are doing.
@WiX
If you want my honesty, after having the Switch since launch, I believe the docking/undocking scratching thing is really blown out of proportion. I've undocked probably close to 30 times and I haven't gotten a single scratch. I have to believe that the people complaining about scratching are the same people who drop their phones down a flight of stairs, then complain to Apple that their screen cracked.
In all seriousness though, obviously things can happen, and I'm always one who likes to have extra protection for my screens. In all fairness, Nintendo probably should attach some foam or something inside the dock, cause not everyone (especially kids) are going to be as gentle as I am. That said, until they have time to iron out these issues, I'm just overly careful right now. I've only had the tempered glass, but perhaps the plastic shields better adhere with the heat. I just don't know.
Hope that's somewhat helpful once you get your Switch. I really like mine. It's probably one of the nicest looking piece of Nintendo hardware in a long time.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I own a Switch console and a ton of issues IT CERTAINLY HAS NOT. You read too many internet articles.
@MrGuinea But how can I post first if I'm wasting time reading and watching stuff?
@PlywoodStick You must have seen a few shops in your time!
This is the second or third video showing massive abuse to a Switch and the Switch ticking along just fine afterward though. That's pretty cool. Iwata's "I want it to survive a fall from a bicycle onto concrete" that the designers almost pummeled him for with 3DS seems to have carried over into Switch!
Nothing will ever be as rugged as a DMG GameBoy but at least Switch seems to be way more rugged that it looks at first glance (and more than most other machines?)
@PlywoodStick
It was called amFilm. Here's the link:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N3ASPNV/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I will say this. When I contacted customer service, they were very good and understanding, and I got my money back. I do not know if mine was an isolated incidence, or if it is a widespread problem.
LIES LIES!! Stop with the Fake News!
@MoonKnight7
Yeah I was wondering the same thing, what with people being quite careless with their phones. I was especially amazed how even Japanese youth handle their iPhones...
Of course the docking part is not the main reason to get a screen protector for me but rather for those times I do take it with me. Even though that might be not that often (but we'll see, I could be wrong when I finally get my hands on the device and don't want to part with Zelda) it would still be nice to feel relieved at those times as well.
Anyway, thanks for your comments! And yup, I'm sure I'll like it as well, I'm planning to get the neon one as I like colorfulness
@NEStalgia To be fair, if anyone is taking all of his posts as gospel, and basing their decision to buy one on them, they have terrible decision making skills. Same with all the people on here who also don't own a switch, but are labeling it as the best console ever made, over and over again in every single article. It gets old on both sides, and it also gets old seeing the same people attack the negative and praise the overly positive.
@BAN lol.
Funny part is I made a similar joke when I found out about it, only that the note 7 she wanted prior would of made a big blast on impact instead.
@tjhiphop
For some odd rreason some people have to point out the obvious as they must be special and no one else could notice. Kind of telling though.
@NEStalgia I'm sure the switch can survive a grenade blast as well. (only slightly joking...Nintendo makes tanks, honestly they need to be making chassis for construction tech or something.)
@Ryu_Niiyama Like the good old original gameboy withstanding a bomb strike! Switch might not be quite as rugged as 80's tech, but it's AMAZING that it looks so fragile but isn't. I swear they build this stuff out of the same plastics Streamlight and Pelican use. The slow-mo drop test video showing the whole thing flexing like a banana on bounce like it's designed to withstand extreme shocks is just amazing. Gorilla glass will never do that
@SLIGEACH_EIRE I haven't had one single issue with my switch I've had it since day one
"Erm, hi yes Nintendo? Yeah I juggled my Switch, used it as a friebee, dunked it like a basketball, threw it backwards into its dock, and finally a stamped on it. The stamping broke my Switch...Yes well you never told me stamping would break the console! YOUR CONSOLE IS SO WEAK! WHY THE HELL DIDNT YOU TELL ME THAT JUGGLING FRISBEEING AND FINALLY STAMPING ON THE SWITCH WOUKD BREAK IT? I demand a refund!"
Console abuse...painful to watch!
Half Life 3 confirmed!
It's a fake gif, click on it and press the cog icon. Slow it down to 0.125x and you can see the Switch moves speradically.
@BAN : product testing is not done for entertainment purposes.
@BornInNorway81
I still think it's fake. I find it very hard to believe that a Switch would function after so many hard drops. Nintendo is known for making their hardware exceptionally sturdy, but the Switch breaks this design concept a bit by being of the same quality as other portable devices. Try dropping a modern mobile phone or tablet like that. Maybe you'll get a second try, but no more than that. And it's just stupid.
@subpopz yep! I have a picture of it on my computer somewhere. It is on display at Nintendo NY (or at least it was I haven't been there in two years).
OMG I SHUD TRY THIS
Not XD
@Niinbendo The Mushroom kingdom 3 ring circus. See the daredevil Mr. L get shot out of a cannon through a flaming circle of piranha plants. Our King Totemo tamer is none other than Princess Daisy. The incredible Super Mario and Peach tanuki tail trapeze act and of course (Mario has been advised to no longer use Koopa Troopas in the audience to crowd surf), and when that clown car of multicolored toads pulls up, prepare to laugh.
I love the ppl saying it's fake. I seen the videos before, it more than likely is not Tough system, still nothing other than Zelda on it, but the system is really tough.
@bluedogrulez It's not like they're sitting there just callously smashing screens with a hammer. They're providing entertainment while also satisfying a legitimate curiosity that a lot of people have about the durability of these things. And the important difference being that these Switch units appear to still be functioning at the end of the video. The ones used for product testing are usually not functional by the end, and it's still not a thrifty use of electronics devices. It literally wastes them.
Ninja Guy Den was more convincing.

@3MonthBeef always...
Poor Poor Nintendo switch!
