Re: Nintendo Appears at Apple Conference to Announce Super Mario Run

tjhiphop

@AhabSpampurse C'mon, try harder. Who would want this? The millions upon millions of people who know who Mario is, but don't own a current gen Nintendo platform.

Nintendo is obviously making another 'real' Mario game, almost definitely with a different development team, so this won't impact on that at all.

Runners (NOT Endless Runners, mind you) can be fun. I think BIT TRIP RUNNER and Runner 2 got fairly universal acclaim, right?

If all goes to plan, this microtransaction-free title will give more money to Nintendo and encourage more people to buy Mario games so that future titles have a higher budget.

Now, that's probably the best case scenario, and there are some potential pitfalls, but this stuff is way off in the future. As of right now, your concerns don't exactly hold water.

Re: A Samus Costume Was Almost in the Wii U Axiom Verge Port

tjhiphop

@Phin68 Because, funnily enough, when Bayonetta cosplays as Princess Peach or Link (or even Samus, y'know, in case we forget that Nintendo is actually cool with letting other characters dress as Samus) she doesn't actually look like those characters. She still is Bayonetta.

In a pixel-art game such as this, a Samus costume would be tantamount to just playing as Samus, and since Axiom Verge is the same genre as Metroid, it would look exactly like a Metroid game.

It is insane to think that you would compare Axiom Verge to Bayonetta 2.

It's also insane to think that ANYONE AT ALL would be upset about this.

Re: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Delays Partly Due To Developers "Breaking" The Game, Says Eiji Aonuma

tjhiphop

@rjejr You sound a little bit ridiculous here. Like a conspiracy nut. What does "see Star Fox Zero" mean? That game was delayed once. Zelda has already been delayed twice. I really cannot see the comparison you're drawing that implies that Zelda will be delayed a third time because Star Fox was delayed once. More clarity would be appreciated.

You think the interviews he gave about TP HD cut into development time on a game he isn't even the director of? I don't know what else to say other than that's a ridiculous notion. It would take like a day to film that interview. He probably doesn't even work on the game every day and you think that caused a significant delay? Or was as instrumental in causing the delay as poor supervision of the project?

Forced to take out the Gamepad map so it isn't too superior? Pure hogwash. There's no reason to say that's true. Now, there's no evidence to suggest it isn't true either (Aonuma could have lied in his interviews) but to say that is fact is simply erroneous.

Also, I feel like even if the Wii U had an interactive map, the NX version would have no trouble being superior simply due to the potential of increased graphical capabilities. So I can't see your reason panning out at all.

Re: Guide: A Nintendo Fan's Breakdown of E3 2016's Press Conferences and Events

tjhiphop

I don't understand, how are people going to be disappointed watching Nintendo's E3? Now before you get angry, I'm not saying Nintendo is about to have a good E3, but where is the disappointment going to come from?

Right now the disappointment has come from the plans themselves. If you're actually watching the Treehouse presentation, you know what it's going to be, and so the only way you can be disappointed is if you don't like the look of Zelda. Now, that's entirely possible, but there's no way of knowing that before hand.

Re: New My Nintendo Rewards Include A Super Nintendo Shirt And Xenoblade Discounts

tjhiphop

As usual, people are small and narrow-minded and cannot open themselves up to the bigger picture when it comes to value proposition.

It's the exact same thing with Amiibo. Whenever any Amiibo functionality is announced people say the same thing "I'm supposed to spend £11 for <insert small feature>?" (though they usually sound more whiny and entitled). Firstly, you're not required to spend any money. Secondly, the Amiibo offers more functionality outside of that one game. Thirdly, you aren't expected to buy an Amiibo for that one game either.

The same kind of thing is happening with My Nintendo. "They want us to spend £70 to earn a 40% discount? What a rip-off". THAT'S OBVIOUSLY NOT THE CASE. I can't believe that people can't see that the point of the system is that if you want to spend money on digital purchases for games that you WANT TO BUY, then you also get extra reward points. That way, it actually feels like a reward, because you're not buying games just for the reward points, which is STUPID BY THE WAY (unless it's on a massive discount). Nintendo aren't asking you to spend £70 to get a small discount, they want you to spend £70 on games and then get £16 off another game IF YOU WANT (that's a better value proposition than the Digital Deluxe Promotion btw, but much more specific ofc).

This is not to say there aren't problems with My Nintendo. There are plenty. You should be rewarded for physical purchases. You should be rewarded for DLC purchases. You should be rewarded for buying NES games and other cheap items. The rewards need to be updated more frequently and not just when other rewards expire. The discounts need to be for larger percentages also, about 10% more across the board.

People need to start complaining about the right things more often, instead of complaining about value for a FREE REWARD SERVICE.

Re: Third Party Developers Share Their Hopes For Nintendo NX

tjhiphop

@AlexSora89 I'm not 100% sure what you're trying to say here, the wording seems a bit vague and confused.

However, the quote you've taken is from the CEO of Drinkbox. Since the launch of Wii U, they have made two games. One, Guacamelee, which they put on Wii U, and another, Severed, which is exclusive to Vita and came out this year, so you can imagine why it probably won't come to Wii U.

What you're saying doesn't really seem to apply to originator of the quote. He said he liked working with the Wii U, and his company put out a good port onto the system. He also knows nothing about the NX, so how on earth can you extrapolate a conclusion about the NX from this?

Re: Tatsumi Kimishima Reiterates That Nintendo NX Is A New Way Of Playing Games

tjhiphop

@argh4430 The NX can be a successor to the Wii U without being a 'replacement' so to speak. I find it hard to believe that Kimishima is trying to convince people that Wii U has a lifespan beyond the launch of the NX. It's silly to take these comments as him saying that, because they're too vague.

When Kimishima is talking about 'replacement', it's clear he means it in the spiritual sense. The NX will not be a home console successor to the Wii U in the same way the Wii U was to Wii, and Wii to Gamecube.

Re: Review: Dodge Club Party (Wii U eShop)

tjhiphop

@SkwidMoTron Well at least he's being fair with the pricing. You can even download Dodge Club Pocket, a single player version of the game for free on iOS/Android with not a single microtransaction in site, and some quite neat bonus content.
