As we approach the halfway point of 2021, there's plenty of Switch games to look forward to in the coming months, with several first-party releases from Nintendo bolstered by a handful of third-party ports and brand new titles. Add in all the incoming E3-related announcements and the second half of the year is shaping up to be pretty tasty for Switch fans.
If you're on the lookout for your next big adventure or time sink, you're in luck; we've picked out some prime pre-order fodder for the months of June and July below. You'll also find a host of other releases below those picks — often physical versions of previously digital-only Switch eShop games — plus accessories and other goodies vying for your hard-earned cash this summer (or winter, depending where on the globe you reside).

Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection - 10th June
Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection brings together the trilogy of 3D hack-and-slash games from Team Ninja in one deadly little package on Switch. You'll get to unleash torrents of stylish ultraviolence in the shoes of celebrated ninja, Ryu Hayabusa and relive some of the 360/PS3 era's greatest action games on a console you can fit in your pocket.
If you've got large pockets, that is. Still, more comfortable to have a Switch than a launch PS3 wedged about your person, isn’t it?
Mario Golf: Super Rush - 25th June
Revealed in the February 2021 Nintendo Direct, this is the long-awaited return to the fairways for the Mushroom Kingdom's finest. Mario Golf: Super Rush is set to feature RPG elements along the lines of the celebrated Mario Golf on the Game Boy Color, plus an entirely new spin on the game in the titular Super Rush mode, which has multiple players racing around the course in Nintendo's take on 'speed golf'.
It looks manic and hilarious if the trailer is anything to go by, and we can't wait to get into the swing of things. We love a good walk spoiled, so we'll be grabbing a 3-wood and hitting the fairways soon.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 - 25th June
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2 will take you back twenty years to a time when your knees were in better shape and you still had dreams of pulling a 720°. That is unless you're a young whippersnapper, in which case you'll have the chance to catch up on the first two installments of one of the most influential sports series ever.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin - 9th July
Monster Hunter Rise isn't the only new entry in Capcom's series coming to Switch in 2021. Nope, portable spin-off Monster Hunter Stories is getting a Switch-based sequel, too.
Adopting the same art style seen in the 3DS original, Monster Hunter Stories 2 will feature a strong narrative focus, and will presumably retain the simple RPG mechanics the sub-series is known for. The protagonist, Monster Rider, befriends monsters from the series rather than slaying them to make a tail feather cap, so it'll offer a different flavour of Monster Hunter-y goodness alongside the more traditional entries on Switch.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD - 16th July
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD brings the bespoke Wii entry in the series back with a high definition lick of paint, plus newly integrated stick-based swordplay as an optional alternative to the original gyro controls.
While this game's slow start, compartmentalised world and requisite motion controls (not to mention Fi's constant barrage of tips and advice) weren't everyone's cup of tea, we have very warm memories of our time with the ten-year-old game and we can't wait to see how this Switch version compares.
More Awesome Nintendo Switch Games
Aside from the highlighted games above, there are lots more Switch retail games which might take your fancy in June and beyond.
Awesome Accessories For Your Switch
And finally here are a selection of the finest Switch accessories coming up in June and beyond, for your consideration.
So that's it for June and July - did we miss anything? Let us know with a comment and also tell us if you've pre-ordered any of these goodies!

So much stuff I want these two months!
Oddworld Collection, Ninja Gaiden, Game Builder Garage, Legend of Mana, Tony Hawk, Mario Golf, Disgaea 6, Monster Hunter Stories 2, Ys IX Monstrum Nox, Zelda Skyward Sword, Neo: TWEWY, The Great Ace Attoney...
Bass knuckles? What game is that for?
After E3, you're going to need a bigger
boatpage. Happy editingI’m looking forward to Mario Golf, Skyward Sword, and of course the brass knuckles in case things get ugly.
Ninjas tend to automatically approve Ninja Gaiden, but this ninja needs to review the frame rate and loading times of the switch version, first!
NINJA APPROVAL PENDING BUT EXCITED NONETHELESS
Super excited about golf...
@gameboy-x sonic 3
No Mass Effect, MGS, Tomb raider, Watch Dogs, Far Cry, CoD, any other NFS, (Ezio) AC, a Rockstar game or such will come to the Switch within the next two months.
@gameboy-x Big Bass Hunter of course!
@BloodNinja They are the Sigma games to boot. Make sure the good ol' Ninja council takes that into consideration before sending out those approval stamps!
As for me, disappointing to see all the lack of physical versions for Europe/UK and the dollar/pound horrific comparison. Too much coming out July, I remember the days when the Summer months were considered dead weight to the publishers, oh how times have changed.
@XenoShaun Is there a different version? I actually never played the originals on PS3 so I’m excited to finally get to try them.
What's different on Yonder? Is it just a rerelease with different box art? I already have it physically from years ago. Such a good chill open world adventure game.
@BloodNinja The sigma games are watered down ports of Ninja Gaiden Black (Xbox) and Ninja Gaiden 2 (360). Though Sigma 1 isn't too bad, mainly just easier and some poorly paced missions for side character Rachel. Sigma 2 is quite the crime however that removes all gore, dumbs the AI right down, cuts the amount of enemies you fight down and adds very poor missions for 15 year old Ayane. I mention her age as the big selling point of Sigma 2 was being able to swing her bewbs around with the sixaxis controller. Sigma 2 did however add co op trial missions which were contained arena fights, but believe the collection has removed all online functions. Likely still in the game hopefully rebalanced for single player only.
3 Razors Edge is a good all round fun Fest so no worries there. Just uh get over the story, pacing and characters and enjoy the extremely fun combat. Gore and all.
I am down for Mario Golf, and Zombies Ate My Neighbors. Haven’t played that since the SNES days. Can’t wait.
At some point or another, I plan on eventually getting...
Kaze and The Wild Masks
Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2
Ninja Golf was actually a game on the Atari 7800.
MarioGolf all the way. I’ve been counting the days since it’s announcement. And if I’m gonna do Ninja Gaiden, it’ll be for the SX. But, since there are no next gen enhancements, I’ll probably wait for a sale.
Edit: of yeah, Mighty Goose is out on the 5th. Can’t wait
I'm indignant NL lumped NEO:TWEWY and Great Ace Attorney in with everything else. Even Disgea 6 and Blaster Master is more notable than Farmer vs Zombies and.. Block Knockers...
@XenoShaun Thanks for the synopsis! I look forward to trying them. I’m assuming there are difficulty modes, in the event something feels too easy?
@arnoldfranklin I clicked the article secretly hoping for reveal of a Ninja Golf game 😀
Ninja GAIDEN for me. Can’t wait
@BloodNinja 720p and 60fps on switch. Both docked and handheld I believe
@Slowdive it’s 720p and 60 FPS.
Framerate is same on all platforms but every platform except switch will be at 1080p
@Little_Squee COD is notorious for how much space it consumes. No way that the switch can handle that.
Same with GTA 5. Too much space consuming and I am not sure if Nintendo will approve such a game
As for NFS and Mass Effect, it’s EA and they don’t give a damn about the switch
@anoyonmus That’s pretty awesome if it hits 60, handheld. I’ll keep my eye out but I’m trying it on PC first to guarantee (hopefully) good performance.
@BloodNinja sure why not. You do know that you cannot use a keyboard for Ninja GAIDEN right?
@anoyonmus I do know, I have a few game pads, thanks again for the heads up
By the way, where is No More Heroes 3??
Plenty of games for me in the next couple of months...
Ninja Gaiden
Ys IX
Skyward Sword
Disgea 6
Ace Attorney
etc.
£30 for an amiibo is disgusting, can pick up Mario Odyssey brand new for £4 more!
@the_beaver In August, so not for this article.
@BloodNinja Yeah there are difficulty settings, but if I recall for the Sigma games they don't make the AI smarter but just amplify their damage and give you less healing opportunities.
Ideally you want to play all three on Master Ninja difficulty (that even puts the hardest of souls games to shame haha), but believe you need to complete the game on all subsequent difficulties before it.
@XenoShaun Oooh, that sounds awesome! Thanks for all the info!
I did not know an Oddworld Collection was coming out until right now tbh.
Granted, I don't have the time for any games to add on top of the ones I'm playing or I already know I'm buying soon, but that's still something I'll keep in mind.
@XenoShaun Then why Nino Kuni 2 and many more?
Quite the selection of games available for people to try out!
Looks like nothing for me this month. Aside maybe from the Waluigi controller.
There's a surprising number of chicken games.
@Little_Squee What yer been smoking boy?! 🤯😆
Nine games... nine games I want in the next two months... God help me.
Awesome! So Exciting!
@gameboy-x They're not for any game. They're for you when someone else tries playing whatever your most anticipated game is on your profile, potentially making you miss some important story elements lol
When will Subnautica be on the eshop???
When will Disco Elysian launch?
art of Rally?
Labyrinth City?
Road 96?
Sky Children of Light?
How about news for Lego Skywalker Saga?
Aside from Zelda stuff, those are all the games I care about.
@the_beaver Hm yes you have a point. I didn't notice they tagged on various releases after July at the bottom.
Perhaps No more heroes 3 doesn't have a physical? Or perhaps most likely the physical hasn't appeared on a store this place does the affiliate program with. Believe it is still planned for end of August (24th or something?)
When 90% (of the known) Switch games are shovelware with just a few hidden gems and major releases in there..sigh (I just hope Nintendo’s lackluster first part of 2021 was due to COVID last year).
Fantastic list and I appreciate the effort. Though monster Hunter stories also has slaying monsters for parts to craft gear.
@JSDude1 naw that's a regular year for switch except for year 1.
Mario golf and skyward sword for me
Black Friday is gonna bankrupt me. Adding more games to my list. Thank Hylia I am only buying Switch games this year.
@gameboy-x it's just for playing outside. If anyone tries to rob you while playing Mario kart in the park, you can directly Switch (pun intended) into defense mode and knock em out!
@JSDude1 Honest question: do you have the time (ok, greenday Song Starts in my head...) to play all the good games on Switch? I mean the number of good releases is not as big as for PS or Xbox if you just count the amount, I guess no need to argue about that.
But I still have a lot of Games in my Backlog and by no means have the time to finish all the really good one I want to finish. Sure, everyone has different priorities for their time and also for their favorite games, so my situation does probably only fit me
NEO The World Ends With You is the only one on here I'm getting no matter what. Want to try the Ninja Gaiden Collection and Ys IX too though if I get the time and the Switch versions are good
Have pre-ordered Kaze and the Wild Masks and Skyward Sword HD. Thinking about Mario Golf too but I have Mario Tennis Aces and haven't even played it yet so maybe I should try that first.
what about Shadow man??
A lot to look forward to here in the 2 months. I’ll be looking to get Mario Golf and probably skyward sword hd. Also Ys IX, Ace Attorney Chronicles, and Monster Hunter Stories 2. Disgaea 6 will be one to keep on the radar as well. A lot to add to the wishlist.
@mazzel no I don’t, but that doesn’t preclude me from wanting ~good~ quality new games on Switch as opposed to trash.
@Mgene15 sadly it seem yes.
@JSDude1 Sure, everyone wants good games! On the other hand it's a good thing, that the Switch have a lot of devs the possibility to release their games on a Nintendo platform. I mean, you don't have to buy the trash.
I think Nintendo knows best, that giving the customers too many good games at a time it will influence sales for the software.
I mean, the platform sales are still very high, so they will probably not change their momentum of releases for their exclusive games.
My personal bottom line: ignore the trash but keep demanding good games!
Mario Golf and Skyward Sword for sure... I’m really tempted to grab THPS1+2 because I love that game and left my Series X back on the East Coast
You missed the best game coming out, Game Builder Garage. I think it's coming out in June sometime, but you didn't list it so I'm not quite sure.
