Back in April last year, an Indie World presentation went out with a bang - revealing Oxenfree II: Lost Signals for the Nintendo Switch.
Unfortunately, it seems the same title has been delayed again. In an update on social media, developer Night School Studio said it needed some more time to make the game "truly special" and add more localisations.
"We owe it to our amazing community to make Oxenfree II: Lost Signals the best game it can possibly be. Seeing your fan art, reading your excited comments, and connecting with your fuels our ambition to make this our best yet. To make Oxenfree II truly special and add more locazations, we're moving our release window to 2023.
"Thank you for your patience, support, and understanding. We can't wait to share the game with you. Stay tuned! Night School Studios."
Here's a bit about Oxenfree II via Nintendo's official website:
"OXENFREE II: Lost Signals is the mind-bending follow-up to the critically-acclaimed narrative adventure game OXENFREE from Night School Studio. Play it as a standalone story or dive deeper by playing the original – it's up to you. As you play, you'll shape every step of the story through your choices. How you choose to deal with the supernatural events at hand will forever alter the future."

There's no rush, Night School Studios. Take the time you need to make another brilliant game.
I'll wait for Youtube gameplay and review.. kinda annoying to see stutters and loading times in the first Oxenfree on Switch.
Well a delayed game is eventually good
Was sort of expecting this delay, so I’m glad they finally announced it. There’s been no news on the game in months. Looking forward to it when it comes…
Also, with this delay, I suppose the release schedule for the rest of the year is officially locked in for me. Interesting.
On the bright side, Oxenfree 1 is now available on mobile and available through Netflix.
I played the first one a while ago and have retained basically nothing from it. I'm pretty sure there were young adults, walkie talkies, and some kind of mysterious, dangerous thing, but that's about all I've got.
Oh no, not Oxenfree II ¯(ツ)/¯
@Miu I'd say those are small issues on an otherwise excellent game. But yeah, I do hope they improve those things on the sequel. Although I'm not sure if they have already improved the original game through patches, the last one was released in summer I think.
A delayed game is always in the future.
I've owned the first game for ages and never gotten around to actually playing it, and really know almost nothing about it. Kind of bought it when it was heavily on sale and then just kind of forgot about it.
@BloodNinja I really enjoyed the first game. Even if it was a super short/small experience. If any one should appreciate people still trying to enjoy something even if it’s small, it’s you.
NINJA APPROVED.
I'll wait for the reviews and probably a sale and also 2023.
The switch version was a disaster. Slow load times, wonky performance and regular freezes.
I think we have enough anxiety fueled American indie games as is.
@its_luke_c I'm glad you enjoyed the first game! Isn't this article about the sequel, though?
@solarwolf07 Tell that to "Duke Nukem Forever"
Joking aside though, a delay is usually for the best. I was listening to the OST of the first game last night and now feel like revisiting it. Might postpone awhile, so I can do it closer to the second game's release.
@tameshiyaku Hmm, I never experience wonky performance or regular freezes during my playthrough on the Switch if I recall. (also slow load times don't bother me.)
