@Alcea without the Game Key cards, it would be codes in a box with no ability to resell. I prefer the full game on the card, but that’s the publisher’s call. Not Nintendo’s. At least they made this option, even though I’m sure they’re highly insisting putting the full game on the card
Meh, I think Cyberpunk 2077 and Street Fighter 6 looked like they were up there with the first party titles. SEGA really didn’t do the best job on their end in my opinion. I did end up getting Yakuza Zero a few days after launch and plays very well on the Switch 2. I think that probably did very well in Japan, but it was likely flat elsewhere. Longer term, it will keep selling through when sales happen for it and other SEGA titles.
This article with an unnamed source seems to be one perspective. I don’t think it came from Capcom, CDPR or SEGA either.
1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
2. Mario Kart World
3. Mario Kart 7
4. Mario Kart Wii
5. Mario Kart DS
6. Mario Kart Super Circuit
7. Mario Kart 64*
Wound up missing out on Double Dash since I came in very late to the GameCube era. Mario Kart Wii was the first home console version of the series I bought. Whenever it comes to the GameCube app, I'll definitely be playing it on NSO+Expansion.
Played a lot of Mario Kart 64 at houses of different friend back in the day, but I had a PS1 during that time. Wasn't big into those kind of racing games then.
Mario Kart World might overtake Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for me whenever Nintendo announces patches and updates to it. I feel like there's more content yet to come to it.
Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U didn't get ahead of Mario Kart 7 for me. It was slow and took too long to load. Bringing it the Switch made it way better.
Those same people complaining about the lack of OLED in this model were screaming "DROP THE PRICE."
For your OLED, add another at least another $100-200 for the same feature set found in this LCD screen. I see why Nintendo didn't make it OLED right away. Also, this LCD panel in the Switch 2 is better than the OLED one in the Switch OLED model.
If you want OLED, wait until 2027 when the Switch 2 Lite comes out, it will likely come out next to it.
@Moroboshi876 Game Key still gives the user a chance to trade it in. I think Nintendo insists everyone buy the 64GB card, but they can't force companies to do it. Hopefully, as time goes on, there will be more companies willing to use the full card, but I doubt it.
Right now, it looks like Nintendo, Marvelous, CDPR and Limited Run look to be the only companies willing to do it. I think if Nintendo didn't do the Game Key card, it would've been a codes. I don't like Game Key cards, but I get why others do like them and will compromise for now.
I hope they can find a smaller cartridge for smaller releases for Switch 2 exclusives, but something tells me it wasn't cheaper than 64 GB this time.
@Moroboshi876 Nintendo likely couldn’t make a smaller cartridge (or cheap enough). Rather than "code in a box," they made the Game Key card to create a bridge.
It’s not really different than what happens on PlayStation and Xbox. Most of your major titles don’t have the entire game on disc. Madden 26 will be a full download on all platforms.
@Banjo- yeah, it includes it, but these devices have still sold less than six million units. It’s the noisiest niche in PC gaming, makes Mac gamers look like saints and allowed Loonix users to have a megaphone
@Banjo- the PC handheld device has less than 6 million users itself. It is completely niche within PC gaming since Intel and Nvidia lead the Steam hardware charts.
@KociolekDoSyta giving a like for buying from GOG instead of Steam where you can. Too many people love to finance Gabe’s fleet of super yachts and his disdain for giving any individuals credit for work on Valve games. I still like Steam, but I’m getting weary of it as of late and buy from GOG on my PC box.
I stopped gaming on PC handhelds last year when I wondered when my battery would die whenever I launched a game. The Legion Go with Windows 11 Home was better than the Steam Deck, but I enjoy my RTX 4070 in my Ryzen 7 5800X box more for those games.
And yes, the Switch will still be getting support into 2027 from Nintendo. I think third parties will keep pumping out Switch 1 games for years to come, even after the device is no longer made.
@KociolekDoSyta Wow. You want up to date physical, but you chose all digital in the PC world. You’re probably using Steam where you can lose your games if developers choose to pull their titles out. Guess my question is what are you doing here if you’re done with Nintendo? Especially when barely 1-2% of the user base even bothers to participate in online discussions
Mine should be here tomorrow, plus my GameCube controller. Just got my 512GB MicroSD Express card yesterday. Mario Kart World and Cyberpunk 2077 are my first two games, my next one will be DK Bonanza.
@JohnnyMind starting to wonder if they’re going to turn Xbox into a brand and not a device. It’s a bummer if there won’t be a true portable Xbox instead of a handheld PC with the branding.
@sethfranum yeah. The PC handheld isn’t the best way forward for the Xbox brand for its core. The less than 50 million Xbox crowd might not be PC fans. Same with you, I hope it isn’t true either.
If Nintendo can buck the scalpers, then this might be the beginning of a playbook on how to beat the bots and strain their resources. My local Best Buy said there might be models, but they weren't allowed to say they'd have them or not. Earlier in the month they weren't going to participate in the midnight opening, but that changed about two weeks ago. It's a fluid situation, which I hope gets Switch 2 units into people's hands to start playing games.
@Handy_Man smart. I didn’t move fast enough, so I’m hoping to get a 512GB one somewhere. Don’t think the Lexar 1TB are going to be back in stock until later in the year
@Not_Soos V2 was released in 2019 just before the Switch Lite release. Retailers started getting them instead of the launch model. V2 was more in response to the flaw in the launch model that made it easier to hack and pirate. X1 was slightly tweaked for it, it was more than better battery.
@OldGamer999 I hope they do a TV-only version, I would feel compelled to play Nintendo games on my TV more than I do with the hybrid. We’ll wait and see if it happens, there were rumors on and off for the last few years of a Shield-TV type device, but it never came out.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it did come out this time. The Apple TV device is a Trojan horse for Apple to get into gaming, so I’d think Nintendo would like to dominate your TV as a set top box replacement for those type of devices.
@OldGamer999 yes, but they will be upgrading the Lite. That won’t start at $449. Likely when V2 and OLED have been EOL’d, the base Switch 2 might drop and OLED 2 and TV-only will fill out the family of devices. Nintendo is hitting the same market that Apple, Samsung and many other smartphone/tablet makers rely on, they will pay more for a device that’s better than what they have. Tech people (such as me) are a super minority.
@OldGamer999 I think they will eventually upgrade. Nintendo doesn't want all 150+ million users to upgrade at once, especially when Lite customers don't have a successor unit yet either. Wait until 2027 when the Lite 2 gets released, wouldn't even be surprised if an OLED 2 comes out then. Nintendo is going to move everyone to the Switch 2 architecture, it's when people decide they want to upgrade.
@sethfranum that’s what I was asking the person who said Nintendo is forcing people to repurchase DLC. I know how DLC works, but I wanted to hear from @Scarmucci about it
@Magician I would imagine their cost is lower, but it still cost Nintendo money to manufacture these game cards. They don’t own the means to manufacture it.
I’m convinced Disney played a big part in that cloud version. Hopefully, Square Enix will say it needs to be native or nothing. The Kingdom Hearts collection on Switch is the only Cloud Version of a SE game there.
I’d like to see the collection come to the Switch and Switch 2, plus make KH3 and KH4 Switch 2 only.
@WiltonRoots unfortunately the people that participate in this kind of discourse don’t speak for the millions who don’t care about it. In fact, these are the people who are typically not invited to most parties 😂
@Haruki_NLI it’s just like people crying about Nintendo instituting an EULA that all consoles, devices and digital storefronts typically use. Sony and Microsoft both have for their consoles, Valve can lock you out of your Steam account for life and many of your phones/tablets have something similar too.
@Appleman3546 Nintendo was reportedly hoarding the components for the new Switch since the PS5 and XSX were easy targets for scalpers. Even if the chip was finalized in 2021, it would have not been ready at the time the OLED was released. We don’t know about the complete board or other pieces of hardware that go into a complete product.
@rjejr stocks don’t usually align with the real world. The original Switch marked the end of collaboration across Nintendo marketing arms, it’s all done in house in Kyoto now. Frankly, I think Nintendo Co knows what they need to do to move forward and they showed it with the Switch 2.
Also, clearly the masses don’t share your opinion since they will just buy whatever games they want with their Switch 2. I doubt anyone would’ve played the Switch 2 tech demo if it was included for free. I never touched Astro on my PS5 either.

@ottoecamn Street Fighter 6 sold very well too. That was a Game Key Card. I think the SEGA games didn’t sell very well.

Re: Poll: Has Your Switch 2's Screen Got Any Nasty Scratches Yet?
@Exerion76 probably would’ve increased the price of the unit. Smartphone manufacturers have way more volume than Nintendo does yearly
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Donkey Kong Bananza For Switch 2?
I’ll be getting it and my first Amiibo purchase in six years too.
Re: Poll: Has Your Switch 2's Screen Got Any Nasty Scratches Yet?
No NL, I take care of my electronics. There might some fingerprints on my screens but not a scratch. Same with my OLED.

Re: Magnetic Joy-Con Sticks Already In The Works For Switch 2 Amid Fears Of Drift
Never had the drift problem and I own two pairs of launch Joycons. I can feel a difference between the new Joycons versus the old ones too.
Nintendo is offering free repairs of the new ones if it happens, I’m sure all their stress tests are going to cover everything.
