@Vyacheslav333 except Luigi’s Mansion 3 has no end date. Nintendo supports their games online for quite a while. You can still play Splatoon 2 right now.
How does this correlate? Madden and NBA 2K would be better comparisons.
I might bite on the full replica of the VB. Always wanted one when I was 9 years old, but I wasn't able to get it when I had the chance.
Another reason why I might want to buy it, there could be a future for a DS and 3DS apps with any additional DS type screen. Retroid is shipping one for their Pocket devices, so this could be an easy one for Nintendo when adding another screen to give a shell feel. I doubt Nintendo would base sales on the VB unit for the DS/3DS, but it would be encouraging for other cool NSO only devices.
I would expect the DS/3DS games to function on the Switch 2 only and the hardware screen would be optional.
Looks fun, but I'm going to wait on it. Felt really burned on Team Sonic Racing verus Sonic All-Star Racing Transformed, but it looks like they got a bit closer to the latter. This might be more grindier than Mario Kart World, which could be fun, but knowing SEGA I'm expecting some kind of catch and pay wall.
I'll wait until the Metroid Prime 4 Direct comes out. Don't know where you're getting Gears 5 vibes on it, I've barely picked up anything on it with the amount I have seen.
@Fighting_Game_Loser Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD Remake doesn’t have an upgrade path either. I took the Switch version of the S2 one since I’ll play it on my OLED
I'm a big Kirby fan, but never big into Air Riders. These look kind of cool, but I rarely buy amiibos much. However, I'm sure they'll sell well enough for Nintendo and their partners, it doesn't matter if buy it of not. Amiibo fans will buy it.
@Nintendomatt64 that craze only lasted for Super Smash Bros 3DS and WiiU, then everyone on here proclaimed it was dead by 2015. The only reason Nintendo keeps making them is for collectors.
@Orwellian87 well, about less than 1% of the audience who buys actually shows up here to read comments
Not sure if everyone is getting this on the eShop, but there’s a special limited early purchase edition for $39.99. If you’re looking for it digitally, I’d say this would be the best way to get it. You won’t be charged until release date.
@SBandy1 probably coming later in 2026 would be my guess, likely summer or fall...? It would be a bit much to announce six games coming on one release date, especially when Requiem is the big new release. VII and VIII are connected to it, so I understand why those two are coming the same day.
Well, I’m going to get this on the Switch 2 no matter what… it might be digital, but I have other DQ games physically. I understand the hurdles Madden, NBA 2K and Star Wars Outlaws could have with a game card, but is this one really need the bandwidth of the MicroSD Express or internal storage? From what I’ve seen on the Direct, it could run on a 64GB card…? Right?
@JohnnyMind a lot of their catalog was sold off years ago. I can’t remember what used to be their top ones anymore at this point, so it’ll be fresh for almost everyone
@Ryu_Niiyama they didn’t share that image in the article. Likely IO Interactive will never release that to the public since it was a demo for Eon Productions and MGM when they were pitching the game.
I did enjoy the first one enough to want to get it. Here’s to hoping the story is better on this one. The first one was uneventful, which explains why Nintendo didn’t want to continue any exclusivity with it and chose Astral Chain.
If they're going to be using some kind of AMD APU to power it, then it will be slightly better in battery life than a handheld PC. It will likely be pretty bulky too.
Unless they're making the jump to ARM... AMD does have a license and builds them for servers, not consumer devices. Outside of Apple, Nvidia is really the only best option for ARM-based gaming devices.
Qualcomm is okay. Mediatek is better than Qualcomm.
Samsung makes one as well, but I'm not so sure if Exynos would exist outside of their devices like Apple.
@rjejr it isn’t a port, it’s the Switch game with the full DLC and Switch 2 patch. The Switch 2 Edition includes both versions of the game, so you can play the same copy of it on a regular Switch if you wanted to as well; you’re just not getting the S2 patch and DLC.
I paid $20 for it since I already had it. If you want, just go find a used Switch copy somewhere and pay $20 for the Switch 2 edition that comes with DLC.
@Vyacheslav333 not when you’re Nintendo. If they’re not announcing a date, then to them it isn’t ready for us to buy. Wish more companies would do that
@mlt they are making games for it… it hasn’t been 3 months yet. There’s quite a bit to play if you want. Probably by your perspective there isn’t anything to play, but I’m close to backlogged on the S2
@Serpenterror I think that number is much less after seeing other software sales. What you’re mentioning is over 800,000 units with the number here. I’d say it’s much less than that.
Also, in Nintendo’s eyes, these were units purchased by retailers, so they’re sold to them. When Nintendo reports the user base in their next quarterly will give a good idea.
@PharoneTheGnome DK Tropical Freeze plays fine on the S2 as it is… possibly a specific patch could come in the future for free, but I doubt they’d add new content to it. The game is 11 years old.
@rjejr it would be $80 for someone who doesn’t own it on the Switch already. Also, for those waiting on the Switch 2 and have a Switch (but didn’t have Kirby) this version will play on it. It includes the full Switch game plus upgrade patch all on the card. The math adds up. I already owned Kirby, so this was $20 for me.
@Bunkerneath Nintendo only handles the N64 app. If there’s something wrong with the Banjo Tooie ROM, that would fall to Rare/Microsoft to make any changes to it
@JackieCMarlow they WERE underdogs at one point that everyone enjoyed kicking when they were down. Late 1980s-1990s for Apple. Wii U/3DS era, there were many people hoping they’d abandon hardware
@Vyacheslav333 doubtful. I think it comes down to Nintendo wanting to make sure the original Switch is still supported because of its giant user base. Also, making sure Switch 2 units are out for sale to curb scalpers.
@johnnymind, because Nintendo bashing gets you clicks. Same with hitting other companies like Apple. No matter how well they do, they were the underdog that people like to kick never goes away.
Probably comes at the cost of making sure there were plenty for customers to buy. Or Nintendo wants a slow ramp up to the Switch 2 and doesn’t want devs/publishers to abandon the original one.
@AllBLK not every Switch owner is that in tune with the industry. Shawn is right to a point. Some of their fans and consumers are content, but the vocal group is the minority who feel everything the company does should appeal to them. It’s the same issue Apple is dealing with for their products; and it’s not the crazy (they were quieted down during the Intel transition).
Here’s to hoping Nintendo is using the research on the Game Key Cards to sway their partners away from it. I still think it’ll be coming out on one unfortunately, but I was leaning digital on it anyway.
@Wewewi MK8D got over 40 hours of playtime from me on my Switch. I know others who have sunk 100s into it. I've seen 50+ from a couple of my friends on MKW. You could get into a fever pitch of playing this game, just like any competitive shooter.

@SwitchplayerJohn where in the US are amiibos being manufactured? They're primarily made in China and Japan.
And which COVID vaccine is manufactured aboard? Can't wait to read what the influencers told you not to eat or buy from Costco next.

Wow. Switch 2 came in like the reaper on the Digital Edition and Pro versions of the PS5.
The OLED version of the Switch practically ran over the PS5 by itself 😵
It’s safe to say Nintendo still owns Japan.
