Re: Gallery: Sonic Mania Plus Is The Version Of Sonic Mania You've Always Wanted

ouroborous

Oh snap, I was interested in this since I didnt buy the special edition physical copy when it came out, it had a neat statue with it, but cost like $90, so I passed. Anyway, I didnt know this version was going to come with a slipcase and artbook. Anything with an art book, Im sold! (I more-or-less triple-dipped for the recent Shantae Half Genie Hero, and it was worth it for the art book).
Gotta go reserve this, ayeeeeee!

Re: Rumour: Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Will Soon Allow Players To Fully Customise Difficulty Parameters

Well Im at the World Tree trying to kill Amalthus, all my drivers are LVL 72 or better but I cant kill him no matter what I try. Im just off grinding through affinity trees atm to try and gain some levels. So if theres a difficulty adjustor, I may use it to fight Amalthus. But for the most part, I never had much trouble in this game in general, difficulty-wise. It just sucks because there's nothing else to do right now except progress the main story and I'm stuck. Ive loved this game to death so I have every intention of finishing, whatever it takes.

Re: Nintendo Bans Online Services For Prominent Hacker's Switch Console

ouroborous

Come on, the lesson is "Don't hack your system and go online". In this day and age, and for a long time now actually, if you hack a system, you can't go online or you will get banned. This has been true since the PSP.
Now, the hackers have to figure a way to disable the hacked bits so that they aren't detectable by nintendo via online/eshop, then they wouldn't have to worry. Although I have no idea how hard that might be to do. Just saying.
Point is, you dont hack your system if its the only one you've got. You have a hacked offline system and a non-hacked online system.

Re: Review: Mega Man Legacy Collection (Switch eShop)

Just wanted to say, the Artwork Museum and Character Artwork included is impressive and extremely extensive. There is ALOT to look at, JAP/EU/NA artwork, Arcade and Flyer/Advert artwork, Character/Enemy info/artwork/specs, Unused boss artwork/sketches, original concept art, etc. There tons of it for each game, its awesome and you can zoom in for a good look, etc. Very nicely done Capcom. Now if only you'd have bothered to put Collection 2 on an actual game cart. Ah well.

Re: Review: Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 (Switch eShop)

MM7 is not that great, however, MM8 is probably my absolute favorite of the original MM games, for many reasons. It's a bit of an odd duck and also a rare gem. It has gorgeous visuals, the music is phenomenal, its fun and rewarding without being punishing in most places, and even the lousy areas and lame voiceovers are just so bad that you kind of love them anyway. Add to that the very very hard but very cool MM9 & 10 and this is a pretty cool package. I think this is the very first time that MM8 has ever been available in a Portable format and I am totally stoked about that. I can't wait to play it again on-the-go this summer! Long-time Megaman fans should be very pleased in the long run.

Re: Video: Xenoblade Chronicles 2's Combat is More Straightforward Than You Might Think

ouroborous

@vincentgoodwin Yea, the video helped a little bit but I'm still confused and have NO idea what cancelling is either. Its maybe supposed to be... you start a blade attack but then do a regular art before it launches? (the press the b button part). Still, I have no idea what benefit this has. I cant figure out how to do the combos, but I didnt even know that your blade icon can go above a I to a II, III, IV, etc. So maybe I just have to let it charge up?

Re: Video: Xenoblade Chronicles 2's Combat is More Straightforward Than You Might Think

ouroborous

I didnt feel like I had any problem with the combat in XCX, but in XC2 I feel like Im just not getting it. I mean I can attack and kill stuff, so long as its under my current level, I can usually handle it. But the combos and specials or whatever, I'm totally lost. Ive been playing the game for a while, and maybe that just hasnt been explained yet (I just got to Uraya), but if it was and it just didnt sink in, well then crap, Im kinda screwed..

Still, it IS a fun and pretty game, I might even be able to scrape by anyway. But I dont want to end up like the original PS1 xenogears game where I ignored all the wacky mech combo stuff cause it didnt make sense and I couldnt pull it off, but when I got to the final boss, I suddenly needed that and I was screwed and it was far too late to level those moves up and make them useful.

Re: Rumour: Dataminers Have Uncovered The Details Of The Story DLC For Xenoblade Chronicles 2

ouroborous

@EvilLucario Thanks.
The thing I dont understand is when the attack/chain tree appears in the top right corner of the screen after you do a Blade Art with Pyra, it shows like if you do another attack of a certain type, it will go up the tree toward sealing something or whatever? But I dont know how to select or activate the next attack, I assume you're supposed to do that before the meter runs out (top right but to the left of the chain attack tree).
But maybe like you said, I'll find out more about it soon.
I've tried switching blades, to maybe use another element in the chain? But neither that nor activating the attacks of anyone else in my party (who might have a different element of attack) seems to count towards advancing the attack chain. It always just stays on the first icon. Tho I swear it moved up the chain once...

Re: Rumour: Dataminers Have Uncovered The Details Of The Story DLC For Xenoblade Chronicles 2

I held off on playing Xeno2 for a long while until I was really ready to be dedicated to it. I was Really bummed that it wasnt a sequel to the WiiU game Chronicles X which I really liked. However, Im enjoying this one now but have been very reserved about the notion of purchasing the pricey DLC. This may tip me in the direction of purchasing.

Has anyone purchased the DLC already? I just left Umon's shipyard and got swallowed by a titan {Uraya?}, still dont understand the combo chains whatsoever, and would like to know if any of the DLC is useful early in the game, all of it at the end of the game maybe, or only for new game+ like someone said???

Re: Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate Hits Switch This August

ouroborous

FINALLY!! HAHA!! I only played a portion of the game on 3DS, I guess MHG just felt like it came out soon after MH4 (which I had absolutely played TO DEATH) and didnt seem like anything new really, maybe since its a rehash of older MH titles. Anyway, I just wasnt that into it at the time, but now Im stoked for some MH on Switch. Ohhhhhhh baby, this is gonna be fun! My brother had also played MH4 but still loved MHG so its gonna be great.

Re: Hands On: Shantae: Half-Genie Hero - Ultimate Edition

ouroborous

I missed out on pre-ordering this because I waited too long and ended up being really sick. The only reason I was going to double dip was the artbook, I do really want that, and for $40, what they hell, why not. I love Shantae and Wayforward (even if half-genie is my least fav of all the Shantae games). I didn't know there was an actual physical manual included as well.
Hopefully I'll get lucky and snag a leftover copy of the Ultimate Ed. this weekend.

Re: Review: Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (Switch)

ouroborous

Had this for WiiU, got to the Owl boss and it was so punishingly completely impossibly difficult that I sold the game out of spite. The only thing that makes me consider picking it up again is the inclusion of Funky mode to make it at least a little bit easier, tho I still dont know how much it will help against the impossible owl. At $60 tho? Good lord, gonna have to wait on that then. I wouldnt even consider it unless it was $40 or less. Asking full price was a mistake on Nintendo's part, but maybe they will fool some people who skipped the wiiU generation...

Now on to the obligatory general gripe:
We dont need ports of these worthless games like this and Hyrule Legends (which I only moderately liked and have No desire to replay). Give me a re-release of Super Mario 3D World or Yoshi Wooly World... Better yet, give me that Fallout 4 port that I have wanted since the Switch came out. Or how about some Monster Hunter World? Yes Im not going to stop griping till we get that or at least a US/UK version of XX, or how about a brand new Switch-only game (that doesnt suck like MHStories for 3DS, blech)

Re: PlatinumGames Wants The Wonderful 101 On Switch

ouroborous

Surprised that so many people liked the game. I played a demo of it and wasn't impressed. I Would like to see a port of Yoshi Wooly World however, as that was one of my fav games on Wii U that I would like to replay on Switch. I never did see the point of WiiU ports onto 3DS, but I suppose they were a good thing for somebody out there.

Re: Sonic Mania Plus Arrives On Switch This Summer

ouroborous

I always wanted the physical version of the game but passed on it because the only version available was the collectors version with the statue, but which cost like $80 for a a $20 game and I just couldnt justify it. Despite the dlc maybe being free, I want that lenticular case and physical copy of the game.. I'll probably double-dip for this one. Although extra characters dont actually interest me that much tbh.

Re: Review: The Final Station (Switch eShop)

ouroborous

Just installed the newest Switch firmware update, closed the game while it was running to do so. I think I was on the train at this point. Now the game will not load to the menu screen at all, it just goes to a blank screen. I tried redownloading and I tried playing as a different user (in case it was a corrupted save file). Still no luck. I'd rather not delete my save file as I was pretty far through the game, but I was really enjoying it so I will replay if I have to, but I cant get the game to boot up at this point. Anyone else have any problems since the firmware update????

Re: Review: Aqua Kitty UDX (Switch eShop)

ouroborous

Bought this because I thought it was a shooter, more like R-Type. Turns out its a bit more of a tower-defense type game. Despite the fact that I hate tower defense games in general, I find myself really enjoying AquaKitty. And, there are different modes of gameplay which make it a little more interesting as well. I say it was well worth the purchase in the end.

Re: SteamWorld Dig 2 Is Getting A Physical Release With Extra Goodies

ouroborous

The whole, we released a digital game last year, now theres a hard copy thing is really annoying. I'd buy hard copy every time if I could do it first.
I imagine theres gonna be a SteamWorld Dig 1 and SteamWorld Heist colletion hrad copy for Switch at some point so Im trying to hold out for that, Honestly they should have just made collection of all three for Switch, duh.

Re: Nintendo Reiterates That It's Not Interested In Virtual Reality Or 4K Support

ouroborous

that's cool by me, I dont care about VR or 4K, both expensive and just not that much needed.

also, im fine with any amount of dumbing down it takes to get current gen games onto the switch because the switch version is still what i would buy. the race for highest-res graphics isnt what it used to be, we've kind of reached a point where its just not that important anymore. 720p 1080p 4k, meh, whatever, can i just have my game now? ill take it any way, its fine, seriously.
