Re: News on Etrian Odyssey, Devil Survivor 2 Expected In Next Famitsu

ouroborous

so far i am totally enjoying etrian odyssey. a whole brand new one would be sooner than necessary though, maybe it will be some kind of dlc? that would be cool. from what i can tell, previous entries are EXACTLY the same as this one but not as cool, so any re-release of those as-is i am not that interested in.

Re: No Updates Planned For Resident Evil: Revelations On 3DS

ouroborous

played the 3DS version already, its great that theres going to be a wiiU version but i dont much care. great that there's new playable characters but thats not enough to make it matter to me really. i guess when i feel like replaying the game in general, it might be nice to play the new version instead.

Re: MapleStory: The Girl's Fate is a South Korean 3DS Exclusive

ouroborous

i'd be interested, never got into maple story for pc since its all about having to buy stuff with real money to beef your character up, etc. but a 3DS version with a solid solo mission could be fun. the artwork has always been nice for the series. but its a korean game so its not really a surprise that its a korean exclusive (at this at this point). but i think it has international appeal since the pc version is available in every country, so keeping it korea-only is probably kind of stupid.

Re: Diablo III May Not Be A Sony Exclusive After All

ouroborous

as long as it's a good old-fashioned solo mission like the previous diablo games when it shows up on WiiU, then ill be super happy.
i have no desire to pay blizzard eternally for warcraft-style online-only gaming. setup sucks and is just a money vacuum. i gave up on wanting to play diablo 3 when i heard that it joined the ranks of that stupid MMORPG bullploppy.

Re: Talking Point: The Perils and Positives of a Packed Release Schedule

ouroborous

not even too many to play, its too many to buy at once! ive got a list piling up just for 3DS titles now. which i guess is better than having nothing to pick from.

playing Etrian Odyssey IV now and loving it, just beat Castlevania Mirror of Fate and loved it (even if it felt a bit short), gonna get Luigi Mansion Dark Moon when it comes out but still have to get/play Fire Emblem Awakening, Rayman Origins, Unchained Blades, Bloody Vampire, Witch's Cat, Monster Hunter 3, Nano Assault EX, Fluidity Spin Cycle, Dillon's Rolling Western 2, still hoping for a US localization of Bravely Default, and it looks like there's yet more to come as well.

2013 isn't looking too shabby for 3DS, the ball is finally rolling!

Re: Wii Mini Generating Little Interest in The UK

ouroborous

the regular wii is a really small and sleek console to begin with, it never needed an attempted re-size. and really, all they apparently did was make it hideous and take away the wifi, it's really the same size as the regular wii anyhow. at this point, i would only be even remotely interested if it was like $50 new, maybe then i could convince myself that i had some use for it or would gift to to a niece or cousin or something.

they should have made a Wii portable, basically like a WiiU Gamepad but which plays Wii games (and GC games too please) and doesnt need a TV at all. i wasnt a big fan of the wii to begin with but i would probably be interested in that. oh but then the wiimote controls would make that impossible i guess, or would at least make a bunch of wii games unplayable.... hm... would that even be such a loss.... shoulda made all wii games with at least optional regular controls, ya fools.

Re: Hardware Classics: NEC PC Engine

ouroborous

shame it was a JP only console (basically), means we all probably missed out on alot of classic gaming fun back in the day. not that we didnt have plenty to play already. most of the time i dont care anymore about playing games on the original console, but seeing as we missed out entirely on the PCE, it would be really nice (if ridiculously impractical) to have hard copies of the console and some decent games. ah well.

Re: Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara Coming To Wii U eShop This June

ouroborous

holy crap, two of the best arcade games ever. just replayed these recently in fact. online multiplayer is a nice bonus, and for once in absolutely ever, its a game that could actually use some two-player (or more) action! (unlike everything else that needlessly has multiplayer modes that no one ever uses, its all about the solo missions baby, who cares about multiplayer)

Re: Review: Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (3DS)

ouroborous

good lord, ANOTHER game WITHOUT Circle Pad Pro support? what gives? just add it and if people don't want to use it then fine. but it is a tremendous boon in the few games that do support it. seriously what's the problem, if you dont want to use it then dont, why leave it out entirely? hell if they think it might give some people an advantage in multiplayer modes, then leave it out of the multiplayer mode and allow it just for the solo mission. it would still be tremendously appreciated.

Re: Review: Mega Man 3 (3DS eShop / NES)

ouroborous

top 3 megaman games (8 and x3 are pretty much tied though):
1. mm3 (NES)
2. mm8 (PS1)
3. mmX3 (PS1 port with added boss FMVs)

If you want to count the Tron Bonne megaman Legends game as the unofficial Megaman Legends 3, then it would seem that megaman hits his stride in about the third of any series (Those being MM, MMX and MML). On the other hand, prehaps the sadly cancelled MML3 for 3DS would have been the cream of the crop for that series.
As for other series, MMBN 2 was probably my favourite, the MMZ games were pretty much even across the board, and MMZX only had two entries which were also pretty much even. Don't know if anyone played any of the star force games, I hear there's no point.

Re: Review: Legend of the River King (3DS eShop / Game Boy Color)

ouroborous

Wow, yet another game that no one EVER EVER EVER heard of. I guess it's good that these games are getting a second chance and thank goodness that the Zelda Oracle games are now rumored to be on the way, otherwise I would have to complain some more about the selection of classic games on the eShop for 3DS.
Although I am still mad that everything for WiiVC is not available for 3DSVC as well (in terms of classic games). I was actually shocked and disappointed when I bought my 3DS and found that NOTHING from the WiiVC was available for 3DSVC at all, seriously, I was shocked.
3DSVC needs and deserves a healthy list of NES, SNES, and GBA games available for download.

Re: Four Classics Available Now in the Latest Club Nintendo Rewards

ouroborous

Ah man, I got Kid Icarus Classics with Uprising because I bought it when it came out, otherwise that would be a cool thing to spend some NClub coins on. As for the others, naturally they are all games that I wouldn't really even want if they were completely free. That seems to be par for the course with the NClub downloadable games. They only seem to offer things that everyone already has or more commonly, games that nobody wants.
It's pretty much Nintendo saying "we don't care about these games at all so do whatever you like".
They really need to offer either exclusive games or dlc, or make a direct coin-to-nclub-points conversion and let you pay for anything that you want on eShop with your club coins (or stars). There is some great stuff on the eShop that I would LOVE to spend my hard-earned coins on.
But this is Nintendo we're talking about, and they never give people what they want or even do things that are perfectly sensible.

The list of club rewards seriously needs to be revised in general. They have had the same handful of things on there for ages and ages and it never ever changes. It doesn't take long before your coins end up just sitting there forever because there isn't anything to spend them on.
I mean come on, I'm really going to waste coins on a mario notebook, or shoe laces, or a teensy weensy little washcloth? How many mario DS pouches can one man really need? I've already bought two just to spend some coins.
The 3DS game case with changeable covers was cool (and I'm glad that I snagged one) but most of the time it isn't available.

Re: Review: Nano Assault EX (3DS eShop)

ouroborous

Hm, I LOVED the original version for 3DS but not sure if its really worth trading for this version. The idea of CPP control is very seductive though. Wonder if there's any real difference in graphics though (and sad that there's no new levels or bosses, instead we just get a survivor mode). Relatively cheap though, I actually only paid $13 for the actual cart but $15 for the download isn't too bad at all for a full retail game, which at the least is a sure bet and definitely a replayable sort of game. Nano Assault is a great game even if you aren't generally into shooters.

Re: Team Meat: We'd Work With Nintendo If Meat Boy Made It Into Smash Bros.

ouroborous

what the hell is going on in that picture????
fat dude with tattoos, in what looks like a smokey room with cats..... cats that have little dresses on??? nintendo life, i take it you chose the worst possible picture of this person for a reason???
.....so dude is literally grandma's boy? that was just a movie man, sheesh.
also, super meat boy is lame.

Re: Rumour: Wii Mini on the Way to Europe

ouroborous

considering that it's apparently the exact same size as a regular wii, i dont really see any point to this item other than its lower price, which had better be significantly lower considering that they removed some very nice features in order to make this version. not a fan of the color scheme either, it certainly looks cheap and fragile compared to the honestly still slick look of the original white wii.
but then, Nintendo NEVER does ANYTHING because it makes sense.... oh why am i even bothering to wonder...

Re: Hardware Classics: Nintendo DS Lite

ouroborous

oh Nintendo, how many handhelds have I bought from you?
GameBoy
GameBoy Color (Swiped from a friend for a while)
GameBoy Advance (and another one for my brother)
Gameboy Advance SP (two of 'em 'cause one got stolen, but the gf replaced it for me, yay!)
DS
DSLite
3DS
3DSXL

The best were the GBA-SP, DSLite (never had a DSi) and the 3DSXL (never got around to getting a DSiXL but the 3DSXL is better anyway)
Wish I would have gotten a GBA-Micro in hindsight, wish I still had an SP but 'cest la vie.

Re: F-Zero Available To Download Now In North America

ouroborous

That's a picture from BS F-Zero Grand Prix, available only on the long-defunct Super Famicom Satellaview thingy. It was Nintendo's answer to the Sega Channel and only in Japan. Hence the screencap is almost certainly from an emulator/rom. Either that or someone really goofed when they lazily pulled a random picture of F-Zero from the net for this article.
Nintendo Life you bad-boys!
Good news is though, despite re-designed cars, BS F-Zero seems like it was nothing special and reportedly only had five tracks (which don't seem that different anyway), one track you could download/or play via Satellaview each week. (There was a similar thing for Zelda 3 with mini-missions and re-make of Zelda 1 with Zelda 3 graphics that was playable in separate and timed parts).

Re: Review: Castlevania (3DS eShop / NES)

ouroborous

If you played this one as a kid and are still obsessed with it then you might want to download it, if you are just curious about old Castlevania then steer clear and start with Castlevania 2 Simon's Quest if you really really want to play some 8-bit 'vania. If you know nothing about Castlevania and just want to skip to the definitive Castlevania experience, then play Castlevania Symphony of the Night. The best of the bunch, as evidenced by the fact that it's been the formula for Every 2D Castlevania since and the game itself has been re-released numerous times. Also the three CV games for DS are great as well.

Re: 3DS Circle Pad Pro XL Coming To The UK March 22nd

ouroborous

well since it has been MONTHS since the XL came out, (and i had to trade my standard 3DS to get the XL, which was more than worth it) i hacked my standard CPP apart and what-do-you-know, it works with the XL no problem. it was just a matter of getting the IR light and port to meet up. i even sawed down the edges so that it fit along the cradle for the analog pad. it works surprisingly well like that.

Re: Talking Point: The Legend of Zelda: Remakes of the Past

ouroborous

so there is a real NEW zelda 3DS game in the works, that's great news.
i would play majora's mask if they gave it the ocarina 3D treatment, that gave a whole new lease on life for ocarina and it is superb. i had tons of fun replaying it finally (with a much less painful water dungeon) and the game is a joy to play again. i tried to play majora's mask but the old graphics were just too hard to swallow, so if 3D-ified, then I will finally check it out.
link to the past 3D is an interesting idea as well. just ocarina-ify it as well and it could be a totally new lease on life for a time-honoured classic, but one that could probably do very well with a revamp at this point.
