Re: Video: Monster Hunter Stories Is The Perfect Primer For The Full Series

ouroborous

I tried the demo, and as this game is NOTHING like monster hunter, I wasn't interested. Personally I hated the rpg turn based battles. It felt extremely shallow and I was bored just playing the demo. Sorry but there it is.
Now if it were just monster hunter but not so punishing and with the inclusion of riding monsters, then THAT would be a good intro to the series but with a fun twist. Frankly, a game like that would be a pleasant romp through MH land. Which after 3 and 4 and Generations, I'd say we deserve...

Re: Nicalis Teases VVVVVV and More for the Switch

ouroborous

Honestly I'd probably buy/play VVVVVV again, it was a really great game. 1001 Spikes was a ball of crap, no thanks and Code of Princess I dunno, probably pass on that as I never finished it on 3DS.
Would be really nice to see some sequels tho instead of so many re-releases...

Re: Editorial: Mandatory Memory Cards for Switch Retail Games is a Messy Solution

ouroborous

It's not that big a deal, in this silly world of gaming today.
The mandatory hard drive for WiiU was far more inconvenient than needing a memory card which is relatively cheap and should pretty well last forever. I bought a card for the switch just for good measure and it should last me a good while as I buy retail when possible. And if I really need to buy another larger card, I'll gripe, but so be it. Im' sure Xenoblade is gonna need lots of download space but it'll be worth it, so we'll do it. Hopefully there won't be tons of games that require mandatory extra space, but then, if thats the cost of having more third party games, I'll happily pay it after the Nintendo-only zone that was the WiiU.

Re: A Sizable Update for Terraria on 3DS Has Been Submitted to Nintendo

ouroborous

these all sound like great fixes for the most part but i wish that more of the 1.3 endgame content was going to be added like the martian invasion, lunatic cultist stuff and moon lord, minion staffs, world trees, etc. cause there is a crapton of stuff only for the pc version, for which the controls make it unplayable and the 3ds version is FAR superior for gameplay. like honest to god, better by a million years.

Re: Gallery: Bask In The Plastic Glory Of The Shovel Knight amiibo

local gamestop wouldnt let me preorder one so i went over on friday at 1130am and bought one, they wouldnt let me buy a second one for my brother. they had about 10 of them left at this point. so i went home and called him and told him about it. he went over at about 230pm and got THE VERY LAST ONE. surprised that these went like hottcakes but geez, if you got one, you're one of the lucky ones too.

Re: Video: Check Out New Footage of Ghost Song: A Journey of Hope

ouroborous

cripes, i would LOVE to play this game. it looks right up my alley. you know, it really wouldn't hurt for them to release a new 2D metroid every once in a while. especially if they've given up on making metroid prime games. ah well. same goes for castlevania. the 2D ones were always the best (no offense LoS).

Re: Intriguing Nintendo Patent Points to 'Supplemental Computing Device' and Cloud Resources for a Gaming System

ouroborous

weird. if nintendo does not release a fully portable console and crush the competition, they are idiots. seriously, fallout 4, the whole game, on the go on a giant gamepad system, which you can also connect to a tv at home, who wouldnt want that???
whatever this cloud biz is, i dont care. sadly nintendo is dumb and will most likely make something that no one actually ever wanted..

Re: Review: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (Wii U eShop / DS)

ouroborous

despite the forced use of the touchscreen for controls (i can hear the collective groan from people reading this), the game is STILL 100percent worth playing. and the ability to write on the maps and make notes (if a bit limited due to pen vs map size) is one of the best thing included in any game ever.
seriously nintendo, writable maps in every zelda, esp with the gamepad, duh.

Re: This Limited Edition Luigi's Mansion Game Boy Horror Has Been Reanimated For A Good Cause

ouroborous

uh, is there anything special about this gameboy? is it backlit? apparently its only a gameboy color, so thats totally lame. does it at least glow in the dark? dont get me wrong, i love me some weegee's mansion, but dont see the point here. would be cooler if it was a 3ds rearranged into the shape of a gb color, with like a slideaway cover for the bottom screen or somethin so it still looks kinda authentic.

Re: Poll: Nintendo's Free-to-Play Experiments - Are You Still Playing?

ouroborous

badge arcade is fun, if almost utterly pointless. but it does scratch the gotta-get-em-all icth. i fully intended to just take what i could get for free and call it done... but then there were pikmin badges, and so i had to have them all. now as it turns out, badges come and go, but they always come again. however, if you want that really hard to reach one, you gotta pony up the cash. its very tempting because it is cheap, and it is fun, and it is addictive. so in the end, i am okay with tossing nintendo a few bucks here and there, i just gotta try not to get carried away. but i dont do this sort of thing often, so its my guilty pleasure allowance for the time being, lol.

Re: The Super Famicom is 25 Years Old

ouroborous

ah i remember the day that i got my first super nintendo, i had bought super mario world and a rare game called xardion separately ahead of the big purchase and then got the snes that came with zelda 3. whooo what a day. i remember playing zelda 3 for the first time on the big tv in the living room, mind blowing.

Re: You Can't Alter The Chest Size Of Female Characters In The Western Version Of Xenoblade Chronicles X

ouroborous

americans and our uptight weird body issue censorings, its mostly irrelevant but who doesnt like more options or some eye candy in a game? its not like kids are gonna play this game (now please explain bayonetta) so im kind of surprised anyone bothered to take it out. slap an M on it and just call it done. ive seen way more graphic stuff in other games and if anything the super kid friendly thing with nintendo is ultimately hurting them these days.

Re: Poll: The Tricky Issue of Retail Games as Download-Only Releases

ouroborous

really a shame, i would really like to play this game. but with the eshop games, updates, and save files that i already have on my deluxe wii U, i can't even download the free-to-play copy of this game, let alone the full version. i am not going to buy an external drive just to download games and i would always rather have a physical copy. unfortunately you apparently cannot even use flash media for game storage either, which puts the easy option totally out. i have no intent to buy any other retail-priced games, so whats the point of an additional hard drive for one game? a hard drive that you supposedly cannot also use for data storage via your pc. such a shame.
also i really don't want to pay 50 bucks for a download, sorry but full game or no, thats ridiculous.
and it would take forever given my very slow internet connection. its all downside in the huge-file-size download-only arena.
now if the wii U actually had a reasonable sized hard drive, it might be a different story.

Re: Splatoon Global Testfire Suffers Major Problems in Final Pre-Launch Session

ouroborous

was fun, got into a session right off and we won and i spilled the most ink, haha. go paintroller! then the server crashed or whatever and i couldnt get back in for like 30 or 40 min but then it worked again. pretty fun, though i could generally give less of a toot about multiplayer anything so what we were allowed to play for the demo would have very little replay value for me. but it was fun so i guess im somewhat interested in the full release now.

Re: Review: Fullblox (3DS eShop)

ouroborous

hey a new pushmo game, yay! here's the deets, its for 3DS this time, free to download, $10 if you just buy all the parts of the game at once, which i recommend if you've already played all the other games in the series and know what you're getting into. to buy the parts separately costs $14 so it's not a bad price or a bad deal. also, you can add funds directly while making the purchase in game, which you have to make the purchase in game, can't eshop that part.
most important, the US title is STRETCHMO. it takes about 630 blocks to download, in case you wanted to know.

Re: Guide: How to Complete a System Transfer from a 3DS to a New Nintendo 3DS / XL

ouroborous

wow neither the nlife guide nor the nintendo guide really covers what happens during the transfer.
first, i was transferring from a 3DSXL to a New 3DSXL and the transfer died at 75% every time. luckily, this didn't screw anything up and both were just as they were before i attempted the transfer. it kept giving me a "no response" "local wireless error". of course there was NOTHING on the internet to help with this problem.
finally i restarted both and tried for like the 5th time, happened to leave it at the point before the pikmin start moving stuff overnite. finished the next afternoon and it actually worked.
however, the part where you swap memory cards was really hinky, it wasnt at all like they said.
but i followed the instructions, with significant doubt, and it managed to work out just fine.
the instructions aren't very clear or specific though.
like the new 3ds but the whole having to open the battery case to get at the tiny microSD card they provide sucked, i almost had to butcher the case to get it open and the new stylus was no help at all. i sure hope i never have to get at it again.
