it doesnt really matter to me that the game was popularized and then cancelled, if its a series that you like, you eventually find out about cancelled games (castlevania for dreamcast anyone?) and it still makes you sad.
good game, lots of fun. its a shooter/shmup but you do actually have a health meter/shield so you don't just die in one hit, which puts it a cut above the rest of the bullet-hell shooters where you get three lives and die instantly. making this game a bit more accessible to the average gamer. it has an overhead view, kind of like the overhead levels of Super C or Contra III, however, I would say that this game is more fun than that. the levels are a bit samey after a while, but the bosses are all very different and challenging. the level layout adds some replayability as well since you can choose different paths and i want to see what other bosses lurk in thus-far-unplayed levels.
website says its out on 7/18 in US, but its 7/21 now and no chain-blaster. it looks kinda cool and for $7 it would probably be worth playing so what happened to it? the website also says there's supposed to be a demo..
i guess its a shame that i never played this as a child because i just cannot get into it. the beginning is pretty boring and the fights are pretty much just a drag. guess you had to be there to get this one.
you cant tell me that it costs nintendo the same amount to provide digital copies of games as it does hard copies and whatever it costs them to host the game for downloads via servers really isn't the consumer's problem.
i wouldnt mind having the digital copy of every game, but not at the expense of missing out on the physical material and/or bonus swag to collect and display, or resell if desired. therefore, they are by no means equal and things need to change.
this is what should happen, downloads of wii-u retail games should be at least $20 cheaper. if thats not the case then they should be released alot sooner than the retail version and should also include exclusive dlc, or free dlc, etc. or vouchers for such at the very least. retail copies should cost $10 more than they do now, but should include the ability to also download the game after purchasing the hard copy. there's no way at all that the digital copy is worth the same amount as the hard copy. and no one should be penalized for buying the hard copy by having to pay full price for the download if desired at some point.
ooh a whole day, who gives a crap, if download versions arent going to be considerably cheaper or at the very least, come with lots of bonus content, then they need to be available weeks before the hard copy. thats the only way that i would pay the same price for the digital as the retail.
sweet, so long as having already bought Fire Emblem counts. I was on the fence about SMT but with the pre-order swag and $30 eShop credit, it's pretty hard to pass up now.
wasnt interested at all in this game until i saw this trailer, it looks crazy, and like its probably alot of fun. though at this point, if 3DS does it again i wouldn't even be surprised, it's really coming along as an awesome system.
wow, hope that changes. as long as it is more like the first game and not like the second game, ill be happy. i HATED having to switch between babies, felt the game had no heart or soul whatsoever, and quit playing after drudging my way through a few boss fights. in that respect, i cant imagine that this one could be worse since at least there doesnt seem to be any baby-switching gimmick. if you could have just picked who you wanted to be that would have been fine but HAVING to switch in order to get through levels was a nightmare and an unneeded and unwanted hassle.
it is surprising that a nintendo demo would be so shoddy though, and so many problems too... i guess we'll see, but id bet it turns out alright more than it crashing and burning upon release.
funny, i never really noticed before. but i do want to point out that i always thought that the blue guy on the cover was a woman, given the position of megaman's/his/her hand. at a glance you just see a blue person with what appears to be the torso of a woman. it was always misleading for me.
luckily i dont care much either way these days (that was not always the case however) but i do think that region locking is and has been pointless for YEARS now, basically ever since the internet became common place technology. if region-locking ever had much of a point at all it certainly should be done away with now. if other companies are finally deciding that it's a thing of the past then nintendo will eventually fall into line but you can bet it won't be until their NEXT console generation at the soonest. it definitely won't happen via an update.
in general nintendo does whatever it wants and couldnt care less about anything that anyone at all thinks or wants (consumers, competitors, society, anybody). they never lead the pack in anything these days and are always off in left field playing with themselves and just trying to come up with the wackiest idea and praying that it works out. but they generally end up managing to make something redeeming along the way, despite the overall head-in-the-sand awkwardness and backwardness of the company.
if its just an emulator machine im not sure that i see the point, emulators for old games have been available forever on every platform from PC to every handheld device of every type to XB360. so unless it can emulate newer consoles then it doesnt do anything special.
and i dont know, but if it encourages and supports open-source programming then it might end up being an interesting console. it would be about time that a console would come with open arms to indie developers and homebrew creators instead of eternally quashing the unlimited potential that such people have demonstrated on every system despite having to go against the wishes of the major companies in order to do so.
well i would love at the very least a demo of the game since ive never played one and am not sure that its for me. theres alot of hype and also naysayers so its a tough call for me at this point. and since im going to download this title if i get it, ill be stuck with it, which is bad if it turns out to be boring, pointless, or awful.
zelda 2 is pretty much awful and i have no intention to ever try to play it again, i wasnt even interested much in it as a child. theres a few stinkers in the zelda series but more often than not the games are great, so i'll forgive them for that one. though it is kind of a shame that the second game in the series was such a pain.
well if this lets you streetpass more people somehow it would be awesome, i have RARELY ever streetpassed anyone ever, making it completely impossible to complete my puzzle pieces collection (and they just keep releasing more, making it even more impossible, not to mention pictures from other regions, eeesh!)
sounds totally awesome, one thing that has always been lacking from retail games is the ability to take screenshots yourself. personally it's a feature that i love to death. one caveat though, you need to be able to take pictures of ANYTHING at ANY POINT from when the game is turned on until the end of the credits roll, otherwise it's not nearly as useful.
great game but why, oh why didnt they give ALL of the gameboy games on the 3DS VC the DX treatment? i mean come on, it would go along way for helping to validate the price (cause if you plan to buy them all, it starts to get pricey for old games of which you already have the original carts).
awesome game but X2 was even better since there were refill points in levels and you could tractor beam refills toward yourself. X3 was even better yet, and the best of the entire X bunch by far, at the very least it was my favourite. there was even a PS1 and Saturn version that included cutscenes of the bosses. also i think that this was the first game where you could play as Zero (i could be wrong about that) and he had an entirely different moveset and powerups from bosses. X4 was pretty good but after that the X series tanked all the way through to the end unfortunately. on another note, the PSP maverick hunters version of X1 was really good and after beating it you could play the game as Vile (the purple knight kind-of guy from the beginning of the game) and it was actually very fun. it's a real shame that there were never any more maverick versions of X games.
well the subscription is really cheap so that's good but what a pain in the butt to have to pay to use the extended online features (that any other program would have for free). excited about the app in general though, just really confused about why anyone would pay for the subscription part.. or moreso why it's even a pay-required feature.
almost bought one of these just because it was something new, finally, on the stupid nclub rewards site. didnt buy one because what the hell would i do with it and also it cost alot of coins to purchase. but i suppose most people had the same impulse as me and went ahead and spend the coins, since, there is NOTHING else on there to spend the coins on whatsoever. WORST REWARDS PROGRAM EVER. add some new stuff and stuff that isnt worthless already.
never tried this for dsi but cant wait to try it for 3ds. it should be alot more fun for me than swapnote is. i dont care at all about some kind of subscription, especially if you can export your files to avi or gif.... that is incredibly awesome.
wanted the black model because of the color but decided that whoever sells it for the lowest price wins in the end (heard Target had the white one for $240, which ain't bad at all). 32g is a miniscule hard drive anyway, any system now should really come with a minimum of a 1TB drive, they are pretty cheap and very common at this point. anyway, i don't plan to be downloading much as of now (aside from nano assault neo). its still strictly retail copies of games for me at this point, except for eShop stuff that's worth getting on the 3DS.
3DS took forever to get off the ground but now its totally awesome, hopefully the wii U will get there as well, probably by sometime next year if the 3DS is any indication. no idea why nintendo loves to release new hardware before there is basically ANY software for it at all, but then nintendo NEVER does the sensible anything and they still manage to always scrape by. i never ever care about hardware until there is a nice handful of must-have games, and waiting usually means that a price-cut will come along before i buy, which is always awesome.
yea right, as if nobody ever is going to play an xbox360 game on the xb1. only reason i didnt play xbox games on 360 was because they never made all of them compatible and the few that i wanted to play were never added to the list DUMMMMMMMB
one of the best games ever, i still play it from time to time. tons of snes games in fact have held up extremely well over the years, it was indeed a golden age of video games and super metroid is a shining example of that fact.
eshop demos are the way to go if they really want to spread the hype. if worried about bugs then make them only available/playable for a specific time. or hell, just make it clear that it's a beta and roll with it. the demo of metroid prime hunters for DS was quickly forgotten, but it was cool at the time. sadly, there have to be way more than 100 best buys in the US so most likely it wont be one in your/my area that has the in-store demos.
