It's been a long wait since the last Nintendo Direct broadcast, which was before E3, but we finally have a date and time for the next information bonanza. It's happening on 12th November at 2pm Pacific / 5pm Eastern / 10pm UK / 11pm CET.
The wait for another Nintendo Direct has been a long one for fans, though company President Tatsumi Kimishima recently confirmed there'd be at least one before the end of 2015. A great deal has happened since the last broadcast, and we anticipate that the long stretch between presentations will make this one a notable and longer iteration of the series.
As for what this one is all about, Nintendo's announcement simply says it's focused on upcoming 3DS and Wii U titles. It also seems that Europe and North America will have slightly different presentations as is often the norm; Satoru Shibata is confirmed to be hosting in Europe.
There are a number of Holiday and first half of 2016 releases that need further details or release dates; in fact, so many titles coming next year are lacking firm dates that this could be a key area. Naturally fans will be hoping for some surprises; the timing will have some dreaming of a download treat arriving right after the broadcast, though it's a number of hours after the typical Nintendo Download Update goes live. With recent speculation around the 'leaked' The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD, and the pending Super Smash Bros. Fighter Ballot results, there could be some big announcements to look out for.
How hyped are you for this Nintendo Direct, then, on a scale of 1 to 10? Let us know, and don't forget that we'll be providing live streams, blogs, news and editorial content right here on Nintendo Life as it all happens.

Just seen this on Twitter. I really hope it's an hour long and doesn't go over too much stuff already released.
Oh boy, here come the leaks and rumours.
I really hope the highlight of this ND isn't Twilight Princess HD.
All aboard........!!!!
IT'S REAL
Octolings in Splatoon! The dream is alive!
Haha, maybe not, but it could happen!
HYPE
MY HEART!
I'd be quite happy when the latest leak rumour that said this would be coming on the 12th. I just hope it's not all just showing us more footage of stuff we've already seen. Don't really care for DLC announcements either.
Finally - but let's hope they reveal some good stuff and hopefully a few surprises. I reckon FE Fates will get some love and I'm hoping for some new maps & modes for Splatoon.
Please lay off Xenoblade though! There's been so much already.
2/10 on the hype-o-meter. I can't help feeling that I may be disappointed so deliberately keeping the anticipation low (although a reason to buy a wiiu in time for Christmas would be fabulous).
I am definitely hyped for some Pikmin 4 news and hopefully a release date for Federation Force (Hey it looks like fun, even if it's not the Metroid I wanted). TPHD would be a welcome surprise as well
My body wasn't ready for this, good thing I have no school on Friday so I can spare some time to watch the direct live before doing some homework.
BYE NINTENDOLIFE....JUST DIED FROM HYPE.
You know, I don't even care what we'll see. Just seeing Shibata again is gonna make me so happy.
Though I certainly wouldn't mind some exciting announcements.
@Oubie Oh yeah the hype train is coming.
Finally!!! That is literally the first thought I had when I saw this on twitter.
Please let me be off on Thursday... PLEASE let me off on Thursday!
FINALLY! It´s been so long...!
DIRECT!!!
why does it have to be so late?
Absolutely not hyped. The upcoming games are no interest of me whatsoever barring Xeno.
Mario tennis could have been good but they always disappoint for not having good career system on any sports series.
So hype scale atm. -3/10
Ah snaps...
Hopefully this will be a long, long Direct!
I'm guessing they'll release information on those secret games they have ready for the holiday season! I'm definitely excited! I hope they don't go into a lot of detail on already announced games such as AC amiibo festival and starfox. I'm sure they'll cover mobile as well for a little bit of it, possibly announcing another mobile game in the works.
YES!! YES!!
Wonderful news. It won't be the same but nice to see the directs back!
It's back!!
Of course they have to air while I'm at work. -_-
Oh well. I'll watch it when I get home.
Finally
Oh God!
Finally! I'll probaably have to watch the archived version, though.
It's been 3000 years... Someone has to make a gift of that.
Can we get a HALLELUJAH?!
Really though, I'm trying to contain my hype just in case it won't be that spectacular. Disappointing Directs have happened before after all.
About time!!
HYPE.
Also, I read a listing of the Direct's thingies that leaked elsewhere. Out of respect for NL's policies on leaks I'm not going to list them here, but suffice to say that, if all of them are true, it'll be the perfect Nintendo Direct for me at present time.
HE'S FINALLY BACK
TO KICK SOME TAIL
Seriously though, can't wait. Here's hoping for a new HWL character and maybe a new eShop game like Rusty's RDB 2 or SNES Remix.
Finally. Now people can shut up about it.
Anyways, keep your expectations in check people.
@LinkSword Has any of these Direct leaks ever been true?
The 5pm EST start is unfortunate... but I will make sure to catch it...
My dream is for surprise MK8 DLC, just in time for the holidays... but the time will probably be spent almost entirely on Tennis, Xenoblade, and Twilight Princess.
Nice that they're doing one, but I can't say there's really anything I'm anticipating. I'm looking forward to next week's Stella Glow (sorry, Europe), FE Fates, Bravely Second, SMTxFE, Project X Zone 2, Final Fantasy Explorers, and a few others. But my dance card is a bit full right now with Rise of the Tomb Raider, Fallout 4, along with Forza 6 and my never-ending run through Hyrule Warriors.
Took them long enough.
Maybe no one cares but I really hope they will announce a DLC plan for Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash. This game needs online events (not just online play), offline tourneys, crazy courts, characters...
My hype is at a 1 (lowest) out of 10. They are doing this to basically confirm the company still exists post-Iwata. But just for fun:
Fan's expectations:
REALITY:
Ahem...
A big Splatoon update is a low-odds thing now, specially since they pushed a new weapon outside the normal schedule to appear just before the direct.
Oh praise the lords hallelujah, hallelujah.
Don't even care what's in it, just so happy they're finally haivng one.
Bets on how long the Iwata montage of his greatest ND moments will be? I say 40 seconds.
I would love if they could say more DLC for Mario Kart 8! Please Nintendo!!
@bezerker99 Same lol, that would be disappointing.
I see a lot of excited people on here and I myself was too when I saw the post. However my concern is that this won't be extra long and will probably announce Project Giant Robot or what ever the game is as the unannounced title. That's a game that's supposed to be coming out this year by Platinum Games. But maybe there's something else instead as it was announced last year in a tech demo kinda way.
Maybe they'll announce Twilight Princess HD on a real tight turnaround release date, seems unlikely. Personally I think it'll be an early 2016 release.
Hopes= Zelda Wii U release date first half of 2016. ZELDA twilight princess hd available to download after presentation. Games coming before xmas include quirky indy mario game, Gamecube vc and wii vc games coming including f zero gx and super mario sunshine.
Reality= A bunch of already known titles anounced. Zelda Wii U Delayed to be a NX launch title and Zelda twilight princess hd IS coming but its a wii vc version and not coming till next year.
Yes im a sceptic, sue me
@FragRed Project Guard and Giant Robot aren't unannounced titles. They have been in the official release lists since their were announced.
Any Zelda news would be outstanding. Zelda U, Twilight Princess HD, either one. I'm not picky. But my reality gene says that there will be no mention of either. I'm still not convinced there is a Twilight Princess HD on the way.
@XCWarrior The article says that Nintendo has said there will be no talks about mobile or NX.
Who is joining me on the hype train!!! Raise your hands!! CHOOO CHOOO!!!
Would like to know a lot more about Paper Mario: Paper Jam. It's coming out in about 3 weeks!!!
As soon as I saw the headline, there was a huge child-like grin on my face! It also helps that it is on my Birthday. Please Nintendo, make it a good birthday gift!
FINALLY! I really hope they don't spend too much time on already announced stuff.
I hope they skip talking about Mario vs Sonic at the Freaking Olympics!! And grrr, I know for sure they'll talk about Amiibo Festival. Last push before release on the next day in the US.
@manu0 This one is very believable in its content I think, plus it got leaked just a few hours before the Direct's official announcement. Also, they 'guessed' the date for it right, so there's that.
I always take leaks with a grain of salt, but again, the content feels credible to me.
FREAKING REJOICE!!!!!!!!!!!
on a scale of 1 to 10? infinity.
The leak is real!
Hype level about 6 but I'm forcing it down to around 2-3 'cause stuff like Directs have the tendency to be somewhat anti-climactic. Still gonna watch and hope some cool stuff pops out.
@rjejr
There was a leak one week ago that specifically said NOVEMBER 12th, so the leak could be real!!!
And guess what it leaked?
Pikmin 4 announced
Zelda U official title
F-Zero X 3D
Mario Sunshine HD for Wii U AND 3DS
Twilight Princess HD
FE Fates release date March 25th
Star Fox Zero release date Feb 26th
Splatoon DLC and new modes
6 new Smash characters, 3 after direct (and ballot winner)
Short Iwata tribute
It could be real! The date was right on!
Hype level? Over 9000. I'm SO HYPED. I just hope we get announcements of substance and not just retreads of stuff we know.
This is quite exciting news. This will be a great Thursday.
@LinkSword Was it the rumor that lists Miitomo as one of the things? That rumor has already been debunked. Nintendo has said that mobile (and NX) will not be part of the Direct.
@LinkSword You find 6 new Smash characters to be believeable?
@NowhereMan11 Earlier this year, Nintendo said Zelda and Star Fox would be out this year.
In other words, Nintendo lies just like every other company. I didn't mention NX, but mobile will be mentioned. I don't care what the release says. That's where they are putting their money, so they aren't going to ignore it.
keeping my expectations low because i bet it will just talk about the announced games and give release dates. I have no hope for anything else.
Really hoping for Rhythm Paradise 3DS. And some Smash news. Maybe new DLC for Mario Kart. And a release date for Youkai Watch in Europe. Maybe I have too many expectations...
@Operative pikmin4 would be a fkin dream!!!
Love it so
Much
Definitely hyped.
Hype level 10/10.
Come ooooooooooooooooooooom Turbografx games! Bonk's Adventure was rated for a release (Thought whether its the NES Version or the more desired TG Version is up for debate) and there are zero VC games listed for European update. I so hope it all points to the TG games as I'd buy every last one. XD
Probably a bit early for Ballot months since they'd only have a month since it closed to work on a reveal trailer, get permission from 3rd parties for their characters if selected, etc. but then again, it could be extra DLC for the holidays like fighters not part of the Ballot, more stages and Outfits, etc.
I just HOPE people are not going too be...too overly excited since Nintendo does sometimes fail to meet the hype when it comes to announcements. If the main focus is Twilight HD, just be happy you're seeing footage of it and what extras they might add in, okay?
Oh...
...my...
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDD!
Ajduxdubhjqsdxeikxdjeojdenjbhdaszhcyiswjfciksjcfbhjnuxdhujfcdueihycfgtq1ujdepid8jcdxbsbhcdfik3e7y6r4q01734r91q018r464hbc,uje3db!
Sorry, I wasn't thinking straight with my keyboard. But know you all understand my excitement.
Yay! There's got to be something good in it, right?
I'm always thankful for Nintendo Directs so my hype is always at or near a 10. Sometimes I'm left wanting more but I believe that's a natural feeling when it's something you like....you always want more.
-I think we'll hear about the smash ballet for sure. (Shovel Knight)
-Amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis will both get shown
-Nintendo Badge Arcade will be shown, and will be available upon completion of the direct....in NA, EU already announced.
-Star Fox will get a date, and Amiibos shown
-We'll get something unexpected similar to Rusty's or Remix
-Monster Hunter X will get a date in NA & EU
-Fire Emblem will get a date in NA & EU
From the UK Nintendo Direct website:
"Please note that the presentation will not feature any updates on NX and mobile."
So... there goes mobile. Then again, people already know about Miitomo.
HYPE
@XCWarrior You're joking? Delaying the release of software because they judge the software need more work is not lying, it's delaying software. Putting an official note on the official Nintendo Direct page 2 days before a Direct (which probably is fully recorded by now) that it will not feature mobile and NX things, and then change and do something else 2 days later would be a lie.
This is my gift to all you good little boys and girls.
HALLELUJAHPALOOZA!
Guess you didn't see such a word coming, huh.
The hype train is back on the rails
The Smash Ballot is pretty likely, as they've had "results" for a long time now. I know it says, "focused on upcoming games..." but I'm sure a good chunk of time will be plugging recently released games for the Holiday season.
As for the surprises? I'm always cautiously optimistic for these. As always, it could be anything, but it better be good after such a long time. I know Iwata passed away and all, but good grief, they certainly took their time.
maybe black standard New 3DS for NA?
::cough:: Twilight Princess HD ::cough:: Shovel Knight Amiibo announcement.... And um.... Maybe Other M on eshop? I'm just really excited for anything at this point.
@jariw not only that, but Nikki said there was something weird about the last actual software update...apparently it should have been larger than it was, but some of it wasn't pushed to consoles. The only reason I could think that they'd do that is so that certain people don't 'spoil' something coming down the pipe.
What will probably be announced:
That's about it. No major surprises other than Twilight Princess HD (damn leaks).
Hum, a 6. About half of Ninty's products in the pipeline are shovelware. Xenoblade's almost releasing, so no use in talking about it at length. Perhaps some Zelda U and/or Star Fox Zero stuff?
Surprise WiiU Wave Race announcement, that's what we need 😃
And VC GameCube. I don't ask for much 😁
@JaxonH Well last week I predicted either Monday or Wed they would announce an ND for either Wed or Fri given their penchant for 2 day advance notices, so of course they pick Tues and Thursday. (An dI wont be home when it's on grrr) And I've been saying Iwata tribute since the moment he passed, if they ever had another ND we would see him holding a banana. So really, I could have come up w/ that list and that leak, as I've been pretty close for months now.
W/ that said, I'll give credit to whoever came up w/ all of that content and date prediction b/c it does seem spot on, nothing I can argue with really, it all looks reasonable. As if someone had already seen it.
OK, one thing I will argue w/. As I mentioned to @Captain_Gonru just this morning, I think Nintendo has enough info to have 2 NDs, one this week for the holiday stuff, and one in Dec for 2016. There is NOTHING in that list about Mario Tennis, AC:aF which comes out the next day, or XCX. I can't help but think they would want to talk abut all the amiibo functionality in Tennis and aF, there's lots of amiibo money to be made there, and show off 1 long trailer for XCX and mention the Collectors Edition available still at Best Buy. The ND pic says "upcoming.. releases". That list you quoted sounds more like an ND titled "2016".
Do you really think they could have an ND w/o AC:aF. XCX and their flagship mascot Mario Tennis? 1 day before aF, 1 week before MT, and 3 weeks before XCX? I can't.
Not to say the rest wont' be in it, I've been waiting on SMS HD since WW HD was announced, but they still need to cover those 3 games for the holidays.
@Rockmin
"Oh, and they already announced Pikmin 4."
That wasn't an official announcement from Nintendo.
Woo the hype is real!
Yesssss. Finally it's here. I am so glad my Chem class for Thursday got cancelled. Now I can watch it live.
@AlexSora89 i did not.
@Rockmin
No, Pikmin 4 has NOT officially been announced. We were told it's I the works but we never got an official announcement with platform.
And obviously 3DS isn't HD, that doesn't mean they can't port the HD remake from Wii U.
That's poor logic to use to say something is "debunked".
Furthermore, announcements are always subject to change. They could have planned to talk about Miitomo then decided against it.
Is the leak real? Maybe, maybe not. But right now the evidence is pointing to very possible indeed. And those reasons you listed are by no means "proof it's debunked"
@rjejr
That wasn't the complete list. Just some of my choice entries that caught my attention.
It actually said there would be a Xenoblade X demo available after the Direct
I am hype and ready. But I won't expect anything too big.
My hype is high because it's fun to be hyped, though realistically I don't expect anything very exciting.
@JaxonH a Xenoblade demo would be great!
Woo hoo! I always enjoy Nintendo Direct and I'm off Thursday, yeah! But my partner will be working, so I'll be at home with my two kids... but they're both in to Nintendo so all being well, ie homework all done, we'll get to enjoy it together! #HYPE!!
FINALLY!
As long as it doesn't bore me to death I'll be happy. I'm excited sure, but my logical expectations are low. As rumors start spreading around there'll be plenty of hype to go around.
So, 101 comments and nobody thinks Wii U is getting a price cut in the ND, even though Gamestop has it listed for $279 w/o any mention of it being on sale? And has Nintendo even acknowledged that bundle exists yet?
After E3, I'm not getting hyped at all. Hoping for the best, though.
Worst case scenario: this Direct is focused on "Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash".
Best case scenario: New game announcement (Ninty says we have another unannounced game coming this year) and some details on next year's games. Maybe even a sneak peek at how "Star Fox Zero" is coming along.
This is a direct on upcoming releases so I expect nothing su prising. I realise they have unannounced games releasing before Christmas but I imagine they are download only and I'm a little old school with games and prefer physical. Hype at a pretty low level for now but it's always nice to see new footage and I am looking forward to xenoblade.
@rjejr I have no idea about all you said but that snow globe is amazing. Hope we get something similar in UK
HALLELUJA
Man, I really wanted to wake up at 6 for the direct again....
@rjejr It isn't just them, Target apparently will have Wii U with Splatoon and another game (escaping me right now) for $250.
https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/d6/86/f8/d686f832477004be631402217d187c0f.jpg
@JaxonH Ah, so you were just testing me huh? Did I pass.
Well in that case, while I think it would be difficult to demo an open world game - and I don't recall Monolith having one w/ the original Xenoblade - and well, nobody does demos' anymore do they? Fallout 4, SW Battlefront, COD, I feel like nobody does demos, but 1 for XCX after would make sense.
But man, if all of that was in there. we're looking at a 90 minute show that blows E3 away. Far far far away into distant forgotten memory. I'd be so happy I wouldn't even recognize myself. Man I might have to come home adn watch it now. arrgh just remembered my PC is broken and this old laptop wont' handle a live stream. So many complications interrupting my joy.
They could announce Twilight Princess HD. If that happens it's something I won't really care for. Some new info on Smash would be nice though.
@Pinkman I was thinking the same thing of I want those snowglobes to be released in the UK when I saw them too.
I've got a feeling we might be treated to a surprise announcement... The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker 3D perhaps?
okay i'm gonna try to set my expectations low so i won't be too disappointed if the direct turns out to be not really interesting
@Darknyht Does Target have it listed as "on sale"? The thing that struck me about the Gamestop ad was the first page had X1 and PS4 listed at $349 MSRP but on sale for $299. That's how you show a good deal, by showing the savings. Wii U just says $279. (I'll go Google the Target ad now, thanks for the heads up.)
@rjejr
Reasons I believe leak could be true...
1) all plausible, every one of them
2) dates make sense (FE Awakening released around same time)
3) a lot of it we already were expecting (Twilight Princess HD)
4) remakes would help fill gap for final year leading to NX
5) predicted date was spot on- November 12th
Reasons I believe leak might NOT be true
1) almost seems to good to be true, even if much of it is confirmed already
2) strange absence of Mario Tennis and Amiibo Festival
3) leak stated Miitomo, but Nintendo has confirmed no mobile
At this point it's 50/50 really. And the leak could prove PARTIALLY true. Topics are always subject to change.
YES! And it's happening on my 17th birthday!
Nice. I'm keeping my expectations low so I'm not disappointed but I'm glad they brought it back
Finally!!!
Now all those people can shut up and stop constantly screaming for them in the comments sections of so many articles here!
So the rumors are true!
If the rumors of Twilight Princess are true, will it be a remastered version with updated graphics or just a ratio upscale update?
If the new reveal is just an HD Twilight Princess, I'll facepalm, and go back to playing Yo-Kai Watch.
The hype is off the charts. Come on, Nintendo, make us proud.
The wait is finally over! Our bodies are ready, Reggie!
@JaxonH Could provide a link to these leaks if possible? I'm kinda of curious of what else is rumoured.
@JaxonH The choice of one of the remakes is a reason why not to believe it because Nintendo doesn't care about that franchise.
What i want from this direct:
-Smash Bros ballot news and at least a new character released after direct
Announce a new game for spring
The rest I'm ok with:
XBC X updates
Hyrule Warriors Legends
I gotta say, when I first saw this article listing, I assumed it was just another Nintendo Direct-related troll article using the logo. This is so exciting!
I don't even care what gets shown. It's just nice to feel that Nintendo is back to normal.
Hoping for Rhythm Heaven Remix...also localization of MHX.
Donkey Kong's Arctic Heatwave gets announced
@JaxonH What I liked about the leak was a "name" for Zelda U but a date for Starfox Zero. As i said at first, it all sounded plausible. And if this was from last week and we got the Spaltoon weapon today that's pretty telling, I was never going to guess a Spaltoon update in a holiday ND.
And one problem w/ any ND leak - did we get a location? Besides E3 almost every ND is different, even if Japan, the EU and US get them all at the same time there are ALWAYS differences between them, and I don't mean just the accents. Different games are shown. Well not if it's game specific like W101 or something, just the general ones. So it's possible if this leak was for the Japanese version it could get Miitomo, or the US could, there are always differences.
2 things in Nintendo's favor - E3 was so bad this has to be better. And they have been so quiet for so long there are plenty of games to talk about, past, present and future. Even w/o saying NX. I do wish Zelda had a date in May or June though, would almost guarantee NX next November. Though a dual launch a la TP means it could sitll happen.
You have any thoughts on the NX launch year? I know you'd rather play games than speculate so I won't press you on the issue.
My hype is 10 for sure!!
How hyped am I, on a scale of 1 to 10? 11.5/10, of course!
@Grumblevolcano @rjejr
F Zero anything seems far fetched at this point, and 6 Smash characters seems excessive.
But the F Zero fan in me has to hold out hope.
To answer your question rjejr, I think NX is a console/handheld hybrid, with one releasing in Nov 2016 and the other following 4-6 months later.
@JaxonH
They've predicted the date of an earlier Direct too (was it the April 1 Direct?) But it turns out only half of the contents were true.
That said I want Sunshine HD on the Wii U but prefer Luigis Mansion 3D to go along with the already released Dark Moon on the 3DS instead of having Sunshine 3D.
@Splatburst
Who knows. 9 times out of 10 these things turn out false, but the correct date really gave this one some credence.
Was wondering: they're still supporting Smash 4...when would a possible Smash 5 arrive on NX? If ever.......
@JaxonH
Same with the "leak" I said earlier this year. They got the date correctly and half of the contents. It could be true and they just added a bunch not in the Direct so as to not raise suspicion from Nintendo on who is leaking what.
@JaxonH
What was the full list of proposed leaks? What you posted looks good so far (maybe too good, heh).
@ThomasBW84 look what I spotted on the Nintendo UK website! http://www.nintendo.co.uk/Nintendo-3DS-Family/Download-Content/How-to-buy-games/Photos-with-Mario/Photos-with-Mario-1064243.html
@123akis nice one, Happy Birthday to you, I hope it's a good one!
HUZZAH!!
@JaxonH "with one releasing in Nov 2016 and the other following 4-6 months later."
Yeah, I was all set on a $400 hybrid in a box but I've spoken to enough people that a split makes more sense economically. And it has always seemed like Nov 2016 to me, that first mention of NX was too long ago for 2017. Of cuorse delays happen, but I figure Nov 2016 is the current plan.
But at least for awhile now we can focus on Wii U. Won't that be a nice change?
@DarthNocturnal
Does seem too good to be true, but here's the full list
Smash ballot results, 6 characters 3 available after the direct
More Wii eshop titles and virtual console games announced with discounts leading up to Christmas!
Twilight Princess HD is announced and will release in February as part of the 30th anniversary of Zelda
Zelda Wii U gets an official title but no gameplay is shown

Star Fox Zero gets a new trailer and releases on February 26th!

Mario and Luigi Paper Jam trailer and release date
Hyrule Warriors Legends trailer and release date of April 22nd
Short tribute for Iwata is shown
Direct concludes with Splatoon DLC and new game modes.
Firstly ... It's really good, that the Directs will continue and I'm really hyped about what they will show.
secondly .... why the heck do they still seperate their content? they really need to streamline this, no more different news for Japan/Europe/America, no more different release shedules and this stuff ....
thridly ... I really hope, that Kimishima will semi-host this direct for all regions
I knew our Download this week was suspiciously empty! WOOHOO!!!!
Says on site it wont discuss either mobile or NX on the direct. Which is interesting as they keep talking about the NX in a "We are not gonna talk about it but we keep mentioning it" kinda way. Just don't mention it at all then Nintendo, as every time you mention you are not mentioning it, It just reminds people that you have a new product coming soon that will replace what you are currently trying to sell people for Christmas.
It will be the day before Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival releases so I imagine we will get a lot of info on that plus related amiibo/amiibo card news. Plus the Smash Ballot results. Unfortunately I am not fussed about any of that so I do hope there is something about what they are gonna fill that big empty hole of 2016 with - Extra characters for a year old game doesn't get me too excited when there is such a lack of releases on the horizon. I see a Fire Emblem fates and Star Fox release date being the most exciting thing we see. But I am being overly pessimistic so I don't get too hyped, as we all remember e3. FINGERS CROSSED EVERYONE
This is seriously one of the best things I could have read to brighten up my work day! The only downside is that it airs at 4 PM in my time zone. (Don't get off work until 5).
All aboard the hype train!
Perfect day for a direct,it' s my birthday on the 12th.Not so great is the fact i wont be at home as I need to travel to Vientiane in Laos PDR to make a new visa so I'll be stuck in some hotel in the middle of nowhere with bad internet.I'll just have to check the updates here and watch the video when I get back.
@Shigmin
JonTron: most quotable guy ever.
I hope for nothing less than Mario Maker DLC. I'd be happy with anything really. Although those Kamikaze Koopas are very requested on my part. Other than that, I don't really care for anything else.
Oh wait, I forgot! An european release date for Yokai Watch!!
Also, I can't watch it live because 11 pm is a bit tough for an early-bird like me, especially during winter time! But that's nothing new for me when it comes to Directs.
Don't get your hopes up. Nothing really special will be announced.
Some Mario Tennis, some Animal Crossing, some Xenoblade Chronicles, Zelda Twilight Princess HD, some Splatoon update, and some indie games nobody really gives a sh-t about. That's all.
Remember guys, earlier this year (ahum E3) Nintendo decided it didn't want people to be surprised anymore, lol.
@manu0
Considering it's a portmanteau of "Hallelujah" and "Lollapalooza", I have no idea how I came up with it, myself. I guess I simply was overjoyed.
Ah yes, and there will be some more Mario Maker stuff. Because nothing else really matters than to keep rehashing the exact same games till eternity with minor changes.
It's been a while since we've had a Direct so I'm pretty excited for this — however I'm not gonna get my hopes up for any big surprises. It'll just be nice to watch.
Finally, It's almost here.
Time to finally talk about what's been going on at Nintendo in the last few month! I hope they come out swinging with some great announcements!
@AlexSora89
I had a weird feeling this would be announced today. I expect that we'll get some solid dates for games releasing next you. I wouldn't be surprised if Zelda U get's a spring/summer release date (but they usually set those up for November).
I miss Bill, I hope we get to see him.
Awesome! I'm excited for sure!
Neo Geo and Arcade virtual consoles please Mr Shibata
@DarthNocturnal
Truth be told, the more I think about it the more it seems made up, just based off really good educated guesses.
Twilight Princess HD rumors were already circulating, and they already told us Pikmin 4 was near completion.
The dates seem based off retailer listings and previous entries' release dates.
And the Smash ballot winner has to be announced soon anyways.
Then the fact F-Zero is mentioned, well, that seems like something added in just to grab attention.
Idk...
@JaxonH
I like that 2nd one. I've been sitting on eShop credit for over a month because of Direct rumors. It'd be nice if that was true. Especially if the new characters are real; I still need to get the stages. If can nab some VC titles on the cheap...
But, we'll know when we'll know.
I feel like it's snowing outside and I've just heard on the radio that my school's been closed for the day. Christmas has truly come early.
The hype is off the scale. The content of the Direct is immaterial. Just the fact that Nintendo is back is enough, plus whatever is said in the Direct will give us some much-needed new topics of conversation.
I'll see y'all at 10pm UK time.
I'm so hype!
Hopefully Octolings and Ballot results as well as TP HD confirmation
I really am not anticipating a whole lot so my reaction will be in check.
Everything in the rumor list is fairly believable... except for Sunshine HD and F-Zero... that's always thrown in for hype.
The Star Fox date is probably wrong...seems too soon and same month as Zelda TP HD, which makes sense.
The only thing that could possibly happen that would get me excited is: Super Mario 3D World 2
@Shy_Guy At least one more DLC Pack for MK8 would be my biggest wish for this Nintendo Direct as well. Not sure it will happen with NX likely to come out next year and the development team likely already working on that version. I'm thinking 2017 or early 2018 for Mario Kart NX.
Can't wait to watch it again!
@JaxonH To be fair, the Smash characters thing seems more reasonable if it's them saying "6 are coming, but here's the first three. Surprise - they're available now!"
They don't necessarily have to reveal all 6.
I personally think the leak is fake and it's merely coincidence that the date was right.
@rjejr Gamestop most likely is dropping the price themselves. They did the same thing with games like Bayonetta 2, which is now $35 there and not on sale but the official MSRP is still $60. So the PS4 and XB1 drops are just sales, the Wii U bundle is a Gamestop price drop.
Basically, the retailers will do their own price drops and sales, which is why Nintendo most likely will not do an official price drop.
Here's what we'll see.
Release dates for remaining Smash Amiibos
Announcement of all new Smash Amiibos that will be of alternate trophy poses for each Smash Amiibo currently released.
Each new alternate pose Smash Amiibo will be exclusive to a different retailer all over the globe.
Finally, Nintendo will announce their own official Amiibo "bank" to store your Amiibo data.

I KNEW IT! Right after Fallout!
@Shigmin
Promise me you'll post the "Fool Jontron once" video if the Direct turns out to be a disappointment, or his "Oh my gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawd" from his Kinect Star Wars review otherwise,
The following will be present according to an alien source:
1. #^$<|{}+
2. >$*%,!+
3. :,<#>!*^£
4. Reggie in his bananapants
5. €&7(;bikini$!,~}|throwers&€^*$>
Take it with a grain of salt though, you don't wanna be dissapointed!
@JaxonH - the person who leaked the Direct said it would be Nov 6th a week before he posted it for Nov 12th and then said Nintendo delayed it because of him leaking the info - that doesn't make it incorrect but I'm not convinced he is right either
@Aryx New Smash characters and Twilight HD are enough exciting stuff for me at the moment, and the rest will just add to it. It's not so much the amount of info on new games that matters as it is the comeback of Nintendo Directs and whatever they may mean to people. As long as there's that and some more, this will be a perfect Direct at this point in time, in my opinion. New games and whatnot can be announced next year.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the likelihood of Pokemon Z being announced via a brief cutaway to Gamefreak!
We're expecting it, we have all but a confirmation that it's coming, Pokemon trailers have appeared in Nintendo Directs before, the direct is around the time of Corocoro, so even though it'll be a first, I think it could happen!
That would be a pretty hype announcement, especially for us Pokemon fans.
I'd say I was more hyped about the fact it's a Direct finally, but I'd be lying.
So a couple of guesses.
1. I think we will get SNES Remix before the end of December and it will be announced tomorrow.
2. I think Twilight Princess HD will be confirmed for the 30th Anniversary of Zelda and will be released mid February
3. I think they will announce an eShop only game being released either right after the direct or within a few weeks....maybe Project Guard.
4. Everything else will be hype surrounding soon to be released games or DLC of things we kinda already know about.
We will get another Direct late December which will be a 2016 hype Direct with lots of release windows and game announcements.
I DID AN AUDIBLE FREAKING GASP! IT'S COMING BACK! YEAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Twilight Princess HD Wiimake?
I don't have school the next day either so i can stay up alllllll night baby!!
@Zelkardaim this is amazing
I'll wait with the hype. "upcoming" sounds like: Xenoblade, Mario Tennis yo-kai...so nothing I need more info about. Let's hope for some serious surprises and some serious Zelda talk ^^
@IceClimbers But Bayonetta 2 is listed as $44.97, now $34.97, so that kind of kills your argument and helps mine.
http://www.gamestop.com/wii-u/games/bayonetta-2/104829
You could be right, it coudl just be Gamestop lowering the price, but wouldn't they have the old $299 price crossed out? And wouldn't Ntinod have to approve the SSB and SPaltoon bundle? That box art doesn't look like something Gamestop could have pulled off on their on. SSB and Spaltoon bundle for $279. Seems ND worthy.
Looking at the Target ad it's the same 2 games for $249, originally $299. Which is weird b/c those 2 games have never actually been in a bundle together for $299 or any price. So, Ninntodoculd announc ethat bundle at $279 and Target i sjust embellishing the avings a bit while Gamestop just lists th enew bundl eMSRP.
The fact that both GMaestop and Target have the same 2 game bundle for less than $299 I think means something will be said in the ND on Thursday.
Not that I nor Nitneod care anymore, I think they've given up Wii U production and have moved on to NX.
6 trying to keep a bleak outlook so I can be mega hype when it arrives.
2 MORE DAYS PLEASE DO NOT DISAPPOINT! Really hoping for a release for FAST Neo.
This is good news Although with a slight bit of sadness as I will miss Iwata for sure while watching. I hope he's watching and enjoying it from wherever he is!
@rjejr Second price drop on Bayo 2 I guess? I think the bundle will be announced, but I still think no official price drop. Could be wrong though!
Mario & Sonic Brasil Olimpycs release date!! PLEASE!!
@Steel76 Of course they're gonna talk about Smash and Splatoon. Come on now.
@IceClimbers Ballot winner for sure!!
Will they talk about the few interesting games that are yet to appear on Wii U and 3DS or will they talk about NX? I don't think they have many (underline "many") interesting games for Wii U and 3DS for the next months, and I don't think they are going to talk about NX yet. So what will they talk about? More spin-offs? Amiibo?
If the rumours are true, then they can show Pikmin 4 and Twilight Princess HD, and I'd buy both of them.
Ooooooooohhhhhhhh, finally Mario Kart 8 DLC packs 3 and 4 featuring Bowser Jr. and the Junior Clown Kart! And an update featuring on-screen speedometer and 200cc Time Trials!
Oh, wait...
Well, at least the new model for Twilight Princess Link is left handed, so Twilight Princess HD could really be the GameCube version...
@XCWarrior The first part of your comment is just you exaggerating everybody's expectations and then seemingly mocking them for it.
The second part (while obviously more realistic) is much more pessimistic; also, your logic seems almost trollish. How does a couple of game delays equal a company actively lying and deserving to have every single statement made held under suspect?
But wait. You were the guy crapping on ZeRo and calling him a sore loser while knowing virtually none of the context or details surrounding his first SSB4 loss.
Your posting history demonstrates at best heavy cynicism, and at worst thinly-veiled jeering and disdain, in addition to some general ignorance and strawmanning.
You never really know how much you miss something until its been gone for a long time.
Now I have to decide if I should stay late at work Thursday to watch or avoid all forms of social media to prevent spoilers and watch the direct after the live stream. Both seem easier said than done.
My hype is exactly 7/10.
Zelda TP HD remaster would be awesome, but it's likely to be just the Wii version. SSB ballot, new announcements and release dates is what I hope for!
I'm not expecting much, but I hope it will be entertaining at least
@VanillaLake
It's hard to say, I think we'll get a few dates from the previously announced games and more footage, though I don't believe for a second that Zelda U will be part of the discussion. They're waiting until the NX gets an official announcement. Aside from that. I'd say the smash ballot, amiibo and more DLC. Probably two surprises, one that you can download right away, and one that you can't.
Pikmin 4 is possible, but I've always been skeptical of that theory. It really depends how far along they got. Half way through development they could have shifted it over to the NX. I personally don't see why they would burn more games on the Wii U at this point, unless it can't run on other hardware. I imagine a couple remakes are in the works. Blah, blah, blah in HD. If that's the case, you might as well order a tombstone for the Wii U. Nothing new is coming until the NX.
Case in point, Twilight Princess HD would be an apology from Nintendo for Zelda U being MIA.
@CrazedCavalier Or sarcasm. Just good ol' joyful sarcasm.
My 2nd list, the realistic list, is my way of keeping expectations low. So if Nintendo manages to outdue that, I can be pleasantly surprised. But it's a late year direct. It's the holiday season already, so they really don't want to announce anything too major right now.
I bet more than half of my predictions come true, versus what a lot of other sites will try to hype up with their guesses.
And whose zero?
" it's focused on upcoming 3DS and Wii U titles."
So I guess titles like Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, Star Fox Zero, Xenoblade Chronicles X, and Devil's Third (US) may be shown in the direct, no? Oh yeah, and never forget Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam (Bros.).
@jariw SHould I remind you of when Nintendo denied the existence of the DS (or was it the DS lite) and then announced it like the next day.
I love Nintendo, but they are a company. And companies lie to their consumers because they know it doesn't matter.
Glad to See it back. my Hype is not there yet. (but i'll wait until they share more.)
It's been . . . 10,000 years
Feeling pretty calm, let's see when we get closer too.
Here comes the fans making absurd and unreal predictions, just asking to be dissapointed.
From the website:
"Please note that the presentation will not feature any updates on NX and mobile."
Hhahaha they know how dumb fanboys can be!
Please let there be Rhythm Heaven 3DS
Please let there be Rhythm Heaven 3DS
Please let there be Rhythm Heaven 3DS
Please let there be Rhythm Heaven 3DS
Please let there be Rhythm Heaven 3DS
It's been so long that everyone's body will be ready. Commence hype!!!
Holy Nintendo, Batman!
YESSSS 10/10 I AM EXCITEEE
@rjejr I was in Gamestop a few days ago and Bayonetta 2 was in the clearance bin for $34. I think it is Gamestop dumping stock more than anything else.
I am interested mostly in what the unannounced games are for Christmas. My last big purchase of the year is Xenoblade Chronicles X, but there is a little bit left in the tank for some eShop stuff if it is the right eShop stuff (Twilight Princess HD for example).
Pretty excited for this! I'm hoping for some surprises but honestly more xenoblade footage is always good!
All I want is a Zelda Trailer with gameplay scenes and a Star Fox Release Date. Everything else is Bonus.
Dies of excitement
Its probably only going to be like a 20min direct focused on Yo Kai, update on star fox, and other small things. Maybe the biggest announcement is a Twilight Princess re-release, but I kinda doubt that rumour is true at all. It would be nice if they announced a Wii U price cut, though.
I don't want to know about anything that I can't play in the next couple of months.
Nintendo told us about the new Zelda a year ago. I bought a new state of the art mobile phone about the same time. I have now replaced that phone as it is no longer a flagship device. I am thinking when are we going to get that old Zelda game they were talking about last year.
20 minutes of Mario & Sonic PLEASE!!
inb4 believing in the hype
Yep, here comes everyone raising there expectations beyond reason ability. And now when they don't announce a new game last minute, people will be sad/mad.
half of it will be about mario tennis, animal crossing amiibo festival, mario & luigi paper jam and xenoblade.
All i can hope for is some surprise smash bros dlc and the results of the fighters ballot.
Give us something new and good Nintendo
@JaxonH The leak IS NOT REAL. Fake leaks in the past have accurately predicted Nintendo Direct dates before, but the leaks themselves have turned out 100% false despite that (i.e. the January and April ND 4chan "leaks"). Also, the "leak" mentions talk about mobile. But as people have pointed out in the comments section, the ND website said there won't be any mobile (and NX) talk.
So yeah. IT'S FAKE.
I'm not too excited for this yet. I'm not getting my hopes up because I still remember how bad E3 was, and I'm worried that this Direct won't be as good as expected since Nintendo will save some big titles for the NX.
However, I'm purposely downplaying my hopes and being negative to avoid being overexcited and having unrealistic expectations. Once the Direct starts, I'll probably be a screaming fanboy and think that it's fantastic
@MoonKnight7 You're probably right. What is MIA? :S
@CapeSmash
Ok first of all, I NEVER SAID it WAS REAL (since we're using all caps here).
Second of all, YOU DONT KNOW. You didn't talk to NoA. You don't know. You are making a prediction based off past leaks being false and claiming that as absolute fact for this one.
Had you read te whole discussion and not just ONE POST, you'd have seen we already acknowledged the fact Nintendo isn't discussing mobile. But that doesn't MEAN ANYTHING. Again, had you read the WHOLE DISCUSSION, you'd see the part about topics subject to change, and the possibility of it being PARTIALLY RIGHT.
So thanks for your input, but YOU DONT KNOW. Is it fake? Maybe. Probably. But do we know 100% for certain? NO
@VanillaLake "Missing In Action" so basically it hasn't been seen for a very long time. In this case, Zelda U being MIA is referring to the fact we've seen or heard nothing about the game since last December and so you could start drawing conclusions that it is no longer a Wii U game but rather NX exclusive.
Sucks that I'll be at school during the direct, but who cares Nintendo Direct HYPE!!!
@Darknyht " but there is a little bit left in the tank for some eShop stuff if it is the right eShop stuff (Twilight Princess HD for example)"
Considering Gamecube game WW got an HD version that even now, 2 years later, is still $50, I think you are going to need a very big tank for a TP HD remake. Whether it looks like that E3 trailer - Link vs the giant spider - or cell shaded like WW HD, it's still going to be $50. Heck it might even be $60 if it looks like that E3 demo.
I think the best thing to do is expect exactly what the site says: Shibata presenting updates on upcoming games on Wii U and 3DS (or someone else in the case of Northern America, they didn't say who...).
@rjejr I think it'll be $60 in the US because Splatoon was that price.
So I just realized this is going to air at 8 PM where I live, due to daylight saving. Given that I leave work at 7 PM, you could say I'm a bit happy about that.
@VanillaLake
What @Grumblevolcano said. I couldn't have said it better myself.
Kinda wish this was in the morning though, since I gotta leave for school at that time.
How hyped on a on scale of 1 to 10? IT'S OVER 9'000!!!!!!
This announcement was the highlight of my day. Before I dove into the comments to see the wacky predictions I was honestly only hoping for more Virtual Console love for the 3DS. Say... SNES games?
However out of all the things I saw listed down here, I'm probably most hopeful for that F-Zero X 3D. Won't hold my breath but... I'll be holding my breath.
@JaxonH @rjejr
Contain yourselves! Nah, be excited. You deserve it.
Me? I think It will be a modest Nintendo Direct. I hope it has some charm. Maybe one biggish announcement of something unexpected. And by unexpected I mean by the general Nintendo fan. So, Twilight Princess HD qualifies.
Anything Zelda would be welcome and exciting to me and I don't see why not at this stage.
I'll settle for feeling like Nintendo Directs are going to continue to be something to look forward to.
Black standard new 3ds and SNES for 3ds vc
@aaronsullivan
Honestly I have no expectations. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a tad hopeful for something really exciting.
Just getting a confirmed date for Fire Emblem Fates would be enough for me. And SMT x Fire Emblem.
@XCWarrior
The difference is I really think nintendo intends to release games when they say they will... and end up post poning for various develoment and sales strategy reasons... Other companies I think just blow dates out of their butts and then blast past them...
7
The first thing that popped into my head was "THAT'S TOMORROW!"
As if they were going to announce a direct that was still weeks away....
I hope we'll see Kimishima. I want to learn more about the guy!
@MoonKnight7 they'll keep putting games on the wii u because there are still people who have it and don't have many games to justify their purchase. And that they should be rewarded for support their console. Unlike the "fans" who bashed it and skipped it for the NX
@aaronsullivan I'm excited. Just announcing the date they'll have one was like a huge burden lifted from my shoulders. The rest is gravy at this point. Gravy may be great, may be terrible, may be non-descript, I'm just happy for the meal, I was starving. (To go along w/ my dehydration mirage post earlier today.)
I would like to see a price drop, even the $279 listed at Gamestop, just to acknowledge thats how you sell systems. And if they don't, then they just don't want to make any more b/c the factories are working on NX parts. I have also noticed Lego is going it's own way for toys-to-life sales, Skylanders and DI 3.0 are mostly 50% off everywhreBF, I've only seen Lego D 20% off. Very different reasoning from Nitndo though. Lego knows i twill sell, even at $80. Evenafter the holidays. Year round. I'm till waiitng on $50 though. On PS4 next year if need be. I'm very good at waiting. Not patiently, I'm inpatient, but I wait just the same.
@Captain_Gonru "infographic"
No. No more infographics. I'm still recovering from the last one. But on the bright side they never include those in the NDs, they are always tweeted out after, or released by some nameless titleless "PR spokesperson". I'm ok w/ people w/o genders, but they need names. Though I'd be ok w/ a big "Holiday 2015" inforgraphic w/ XCX, AC:aF, Mario Tennis, and whatever 3DS is getting, Yokai and Triforce. XCX needs a big in store date so people don't run out of money over BF weekend. Though I suppose very few people looking to buy that game don't already know abut it. Mario Tennis will be a spur of the moment purchase by older relatives for younger relatives. It's a'him, Mario.
But I'm up. For the next 45 hours. Then we'll see. But I am guardedly optimistic. After all this time, and the E3 NDE fiasco, they'll bring it. Somehow.
AAAAAACAPSLOCKSTROKE!!!1!
My direct craving shall be satisfied at last.
And at perfect timing too; it might hype people into buying on the holiday season.
Nintendo announced that Morimoto will be hosting for Japan again!
Makes me wonder if Morimoto will have English segments in the Direct for the West just like Iwata had. That in turn makes me wonder if the whole reason we had to wait this long for a Direct is that Morimoto needed to brush up on his English skills, lol!
Darn it, I just wanted to watch an old Japanese Direct but then it hit me that Nintendo deleted all Directs on their YT channel that Iwata appeared in shortly after he died.
@vio Yes they did. I'm talking about JAPANESE Directs, not American.
I am extrememly excited about the news but not getting my hopes up. Nintendo hasnt exactly promoted reason to be hyped lately. My prayer is that Zelda U will show its face again.
I just hope we get something of substance from this Direct. I'm a little excited, certainly, but I've been disappointed before....
@Lady_rosalina
Oh you mean like they supported the Wii? A console that actually had a substantial base, and was dead almost a year before the Wii U launched. Yet you believe that a failing console with 10% of that base will somehow be different? Pardon me while I remain skeptical. Keeping Wii U owners happy is literally the last thing on Nintendo's checklist right now. Most Wii U owners are Nintendo die-hards who will begrudgingly buy the NX anyway, and Nintendo knows it, as evidenced by high game attach rates.
Don't be surprised if "continuing support" is 2 or 3 games after the NX, with yearly installments of Just Dance.
@MoonKnight7
Thank you for partially taking notice of my post. Yes I'm aware of the wiis success this will not change Nintendo's traditional Zelda exclusive per console rule. and yes those 10 million wii u owners do matter, they stuck by on a failure console. That shows them who the real nintendo fans are.
"Keeping Wii U owners happy is literally the last thing on Nintendo's checklist right now"
I do recall them saying they won't release nx untill wii u owners are happy. Direct contradiction.

"Most Wii U owners are Nintendo die-hards who will begrudgingly buy the NX anyway." That maybe true but not everyone has money to throw at a new console. Especially if they cut a consoles life down if it doesn't perform the way they thought.
adding a list of Zeldas exclusive to each platform since you clearly don't now Nintendo's history

I agree with this ^_^
My hype on the number scale is Farty. Yep, that's right, Farty. I had to make up a new number to show my hype level.
Hype level at about 5/10... One one hand, it's been so long that I think it's fair to expect some neat surprises. On the other hand, how many times have I thought that only to be disappointed? Lol
That's a late time. I'll check the contents next morning.
Hype level, 9/10. Please don't disappoint me.
@manu0,
Ah bummer, I wanted to learn more about Kimishima! I wonder when he will properly introduce himself to the fanbase, if ever. Or maybe Directs aren't his thing, and he works more in the background (like Hiroshi Yamauchi did).
@AlexSora89
I promise.
@Grumblevolcano Thank you! Well, officially the new Zelda is still a Wii U game, and most probably it's designed with the Wii U hardware in mind, but it could be a dual release much like Twilight Princess. I would be upset if it didn't launch for Wii U after all these years of emptiness.
@MoonKnight7 You are right. Last generation I only had the Wii and it was absolutely dead since 2010-2011, only five years after its record-breaking successful launch.
For Wii U, this year was full of low budget and weak spin-offs, so I wouldn't expect 2016 to have any mind-blowing Wii U release except for Zelda which most probably will launch for NX too. Even the eShop is just a mean handful of retro games, only one remaster released and for the same price as a new Wii U release. I don't regret having a Wii U at all, there are some exclusive games that I could not miss, but Nintendo could not have disappointed their followers more. Its failure must mean something. If Wii U had the same games and the same eShop library but 100 millions sales, then diehard fans would say that the Wii U and its games library is totally perfect and that there's nothing in the world that Nintendo could do to satisfy more Wii U users. Nintendo itself would say it, so I'm happy that Wii U was a failure because this is not the way I want Nintendo to satisfy me.
@rjejr A man can hope, but unfortunately you are probably right. I tend to forget that Nintendo completely fails to understand that not everyone can shell out $60-$120 a month for their products.
I'm going to say on the hype scale in 8 out of 10. I know I'll probably end up being disappointed but it's like when you haven't eaten for ages and suddenly you appreciate food that much more.
Last E3 was shocking just by the inclusion of ryu in smash, this direct will be as well for the only reason of a new Smash char so my hype level is 9,5/10 I guess
A remake of soul blazer would be awesome. But I haven't heard anything about this game in a while. This would be a nice surprise. Also a zelda name would make my year. I hope they start remaking some of the older games. I also hope zelda comes out sooner rather than later. I don't know if I can wait a whole year more for this game.😀
@Captain_Gonru "-Pikmin 4 will require an amiibo for each pikmin you wish to pluck."
I'd be ok w/ that. I've always wanted a Pikmin sim type game. Like Animal Crossing, but w/ Pikmin, mixed w/ Monster Hunter. The landscape is just so lush and varied, I want to be an heroic Pikmin who leads my tribe to victory over the monsters and the elements. No astronauts, just 1 player controlled Pikmin. Game comes w/ red, yellow and blue, but you have to buy Rock, Pink, Black and White. I can live w/ that b/c its the game I've always wanted.
I'd much rather have that than Pikmin 4 be like Pikmin 2. Pikmin 1 was fantastic, Pikmin 2 spent too much time in th caves. Pikmin 3 was ok, but really just more of the same. I Want Pikmin in a whole new way. Pikmin 4 won't be that game though.
So, you download Ninntedo Badge Arcade yet?
@Darknyht My son has been bugging me for Drgaonball Xenoverse on PS3 which came out in Feb 2015 for $50. I told him to wait, and now it's $30 everywhere so his grandfathr will buy it fo rhim fo rHAnuukah in a few weeks.
I've been waiting for 3 years to play Lego City Undercover but it's still $50. I htink every other Lego game that doesn't require toys is now $20. Though Jurassic World might still be $40.
Nintendo treats it's customers as if it's Apple, meanwhile it has the marketshare of Zune or Windows phone.
I'm ready for some information, but I'm not hyped.
Hype happens AFTER the Direct for me.
Glad I won't be in class when it happens, though.
Oh.
My.
God.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!
@Lady_rosalina
From your first link:
“The NX is new hardware, and will start from zero,” he said to shareholders. “However, the 3DS and Wii U have install bases. Immediately cutting off software for previous hardware upon the release of a new machine is inefficient.”
Direct contradiction? Why? Cause Iwata said it? I hate to break it to you, but I never found Iwata's word as solid proof of anything (may he rest in peace of course). Just like they almost immediately doubled back on smartphone games, after repeatedly saying, "no" once investors had them against the wall. They could release SMTxFE, Pokken Tournament, Star Fox and Zelda U/NX and consider that making Wii U owners 'happy.' It's such a empty statement. That is not proof to me nor a direct contradiction. Your argument is that they'll release games until we're happy? I'm sorry, but what the hell does that even mean? That's hardly proof, it's just Iwata making a PR spin, because the fanbase had torches and pitchforks at the time. I'd pay attention to the date more than the words.
"That maybe true but not everyone has money to throw at a new console. Especially if they cut a consoles life down if it doesn't perform the way they thought."
Sure I understand that. I certainly couldn't get a Wii U right away, but are you understanding what I'm saying? Most of them will get one, especially if they have strong games in the launch window. It's better to cut ties on the Wii U as soon as possible before people shift their attention to PS4 and Xbox, of which, it may already be too late. So yes, Nintendo's last priority is making us happy. They need to secure a broader base first with the NX.
In regards to Zelda, I am one of those that strongly believes that Zelda U will become the next Twilight Princess. Thanks for the ridiculous smart*ss history lesson btw, but I am familiar with Wikipedia too.
What I fail to understand with some people is that they believe that a 'Zelda per console' is apparently in Nintendo's Ten Commandments. What could realistically happen is that Zelda U could become a duel release, just like Twilight Princess. Doesn't that technically fit into one 'Zelda per console?' It does, just not the way you want it to. The Wii U just doesn't have the blessing of a prior installment on the system like the GameCube did. Wind Waker released 1.5 - 2 years into the GameCube's lifespan. It was already well into production when the GameCube released. Zelda U on the other hand, wasn't started until the end of the Wii's lifespan. The history you listed is irrelevant here. Look at where the Wii U is, and where Zelda U is, it's MIA; has been for almost a year now. The only breadcrumbs we've gotten was from:
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/10/aonuma_talks_the_legend_of_zeldas_30th_anniversary_working_as_fast_as_possible_on_zelda_u
One line that is particularly curious is this one:
"We're doing our best. Everyday we improve it bit by bit. It is something that requires plenty of time, however, so please believe in us and wait."
I'm sorry, I have a question. Shouldn't Zelda U be close to completion? That comment makes it sound like it's being rebuilt "bit by bit." It's a muddy comment for sure, but lets look at the 'history of Zelda U' for a moment:
In E3 2014, they show the first footage of the game saying it will be out Xmas 2015, with plenty of people shouting "Eeeek! Is it 2015 already?!" Fast forward to December 2014:
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/12/nintendo_reveals_new_wii_u_footage_and_details_for_the_legend_of_zelda_still_set_for_2015
This is a strange one given what happened after just 3 months later:
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2015/03/the_legend_of_zelda_for_wii_u_no_longer_set_for_2015_release
After such blatant confidence too. 3 months is not a lot of time to completely double back on something, so much so, that Zelda completely went off the grid. So the question is what happened? Was something so broken in the game and there was no possible way to release on time or... What's rather curious about this is that this is right around the time the NX was first mentioned because of the smartphone game deal with DeNA. That's rather interesting isn't it?
The signs are there if you pay attention to them. As a lover of history, you should know better than I that the GameCube was considered a failure by Nintendo's standards, so what happened? They moved TP from GameCube to the Wii and flipped the map for the Wii-mote. Why would they do that? To prop up the Wii as much as possible for a good launch, because the prior system failed to meet expectations.
Now look at the Wii U. It has under half the sales of the GameCube, and you believe backers of Nintendo will let a Zelda out the door on a failing console because they owe it to the fans? Nintendo doesn't owe us squat. Nintendo investors could have easily twisted Iwata's arm to pull the same strategy for the NX. They got him to cry mercy for smart phone games, why stop there?
@Maggots The main difference for Nintendo when it came to getting release dates wrong vs other companies was Mr. Iwata nicely saying, "Please Understand." We got mad but somehow that taught our brains to laugh it off.
We'll see if the new CEO can say something equally disappointing but yet somehow soften the blow.
Cause if Zelda console titles have taught us anything over the last 3 generations, Nintendo is totally guessing when it comes to when their big games will be finished.
@VanillaLake
Yeah I'm with you there. The Wii's last few years were incredibly disappointing. So disappointing infact, that I went out and got a PS3 at that time. I don't see the Wii U being a different story. Nintendo obviously has their resources pretty stretched right now. They have to "try" to satisfy Wii U, 3DS and build up software for the NX. Obviously the former will get the short end of the stick.
I agree wholeheartedly with you. I don't regret my Wii U purchase at all. I play it a lot. That said, I'm not going to shield my eyes from the obvious. The Wii U is coming to an end, and very soon. I hope we get some good surprises tomorrow, but I'm not going to get overly excited. I know where Nintendo's focus is, and it isn't so much on the Wii U anymore.
Oh dammit it's Minecraft tomorrow.....
Hoping for "Zombie Iwata U"
...Too soon?
@MoonKnight7 Yes, it looks like it. Good posts, clear, with good reasoning and fair quoting. It's very true what you are saying, many Wii U owners are thinking of getting a PS or Xbox for the first time in their lives, including myself. This is something that started happening in the Wii era but while Wii was successful, the Wii U is not. About Zelda, now I believe that all Nintendo has said lately is just mere excuses to artificially delay the game for a dual release, because Nintendo itself has already given up the Wii U.
@XCWarrior I didn't like Iwata saying "Please understand", for me it was sarcasm, he didn't address the questions and was too diplomatic.
I never liked Iwata as President of Nintendo, but of course I wish everybody with that illness to get well. If you don't like somebody to rule a company it doesn't mean that you hate that person. Even if I hated him I still would wish him well.
@Captain_Gonru Nintendo's E3 was very disappointing indeed. Don't give any more crazy ideas, look how somebody is already saying they would be fine!
Hype is 1/10. I know they don't have something outstanding and new for Wii U or 3DS and I know it's too soon to talk about Wii U's successor. We might get Twilight Princess HD (an enhanced port, thanks, I'll bite) and Pikmin 4 (a new game that I'll also get) and little more that I care about, because I don't care about the shabby spin-offs that they have been announcing lately.
