North American RPG fans have had to wait a surprising amount of time, but there's now a solid release date for Bravely Second: End Layer in the region. It's coming to the territory on 15th April, and a Collector's Edition is coming too.
Due in Europe on 26th February, the wait for North America is thankfully not as bad as it could have been. At a press event where the announcement was made the following Collector's Edition was shown; the only real difference from Europe is that it's lacking an Agnès Mini Figurine; it'll retail at $69.99 in the US.
- Bravely Second: End Layer game
- A Deluxe Artbook (250+ pages)
- The Original Soundtrack CD
As per the European release a demo will arrive prior to the full release that'll serve as a short prequel to the main game.
Are you adding this to your wishlist for April, North American gamers? Let us know.

Preordered.*
*This is what I'll say as soon as I can preorder it.
I should just copy and paste my last comment in the Dragon Quest artical.
Figured it would be April. The first half of the year is filling out rather nicely for the 3DS, assuming you like JRPGs of course.
Nothing like making your number one market wait again stupid NoA. I mean Europe loves Nintendo so much it makes sense why you would skip the US and make them wait. Again.
Oh wait no Europe actually loves Sony and the US is your biggest market and i will skip this game just how I've skipped every game you needlessly delayed in the US.
No figurine? Bah.
Though the last game's figurine was weird lookin.
At least we finally got a damn release date. I'll be snagging this.
I will be getting this day one as long as it's not $60 Cdn.
@Kobeskillz It's not needless. It's called "We've got a first party release set up for February in NA that could potentially conflict with this". Look at things from a larger perspective.
Also, ever heard "Better late than never"? Because if you flat out skip games purely because of "needless delays", then I... start wondering things.
I'll keep an eye on this one, though I have yet to play Bravely Default.
Well, well, well. I can finally rest easy.
Definitely getting the collector's edition. I hope the demo has unlimited uses...
I just want to warn everyone that you should avoid preordering on amazon. In case you forgot almost every single CE from amazon came destroyed because of poor packaging.
@Kobeskillz It's like you purposely pretend that Fire Emblem Fates does not exist!
I'm really glad to hear that it will be releasing right before summer. I'll be sure to pick this up when I come home in May. I'll be perfectly fine with the standard edition, though.
@TingLz that's not the point man. If a game is ready don't leave it on the shelf for months. Release it now. They have very little for the 3ds and wiiu coming out and this game can help. Look I'm not dumb and yes I understand WHY they are doing it but I completely disagree with it.
If a game is ready release it. Don't hold it for months to pad out your release schedule. This also goes back to xenoblade, last story and Pandora.
Noe is just better and noa is insultingly bad to nintendos #1 market. Simple as that.
Well wait a minute, we don't get the figurine? Why not? And why is this being released two months later? So let me get this straight, We're getting the exact same set MINUS the figure for the same price? (Converted to the US dollar of course.) Where's the incentive to buy the limited edition set when I know it's inferior to what the UK is getting?
@Kobeskillz A 3DS game doesn't cover up the Wii U's lack of releases, and the 3DS does not have a lack of upcoming releases at all. April makes sense for the region, as that is the month that doesn't have any major 3DS releases (or any at all, for that matter). The game will sell a lot better in April than if they released it sandwiched in between all of the other 3DS releases in January and February.
Also, FE Fates is most likely an April release in Europe, if not later.
Well, I better hurry up and beat Bravely Default.
@PanurgeJr I love this.
@IceClimbers that's not true. If you're into the Nintendo ecosystem and own both a 3ds and wiiu only then a 3ds game will help when both systems have nothing.
Anyways again my opinion that holding games regardless of region when the game is ready is just dirty.
I also have the right to voice that opinion with my dollar. Which I will.
My opinion is that it is not dirty.
Yeah! More JRPG collector! So more pre order!
I waited for the first one for years and was kinda disappointed by it in the end so Im super sceptical about this one. Unless they have fixed the 3 major issues that spoiled the first for me, ill sadly be skipping this.
Can anyone confirm if End Layer is better than the first game?
Okay since Friday is my birthday I'll change my order to Collector's Edition when I step into Gamestop.
Don't care about the figurine, the artbook is enough.
Nice. Think I'll be holding off on this one, though. Too many games coming up and in the backlog right now.
@ColdingLight
I wouldn't exactly call it the same price, seeing how there's quite a big difference between $70 and £70 (which equals to about about $100), with many places outside UK charging even more for the package.
And to be honest, I would have gladly given up the figurine if it would have lowered the price here in EU, too, just like with the first game. I'm more interested in the artbook and soundtrack. Of course, I'm hopeful that the figurine won't end up being how it did with the first game, but still. Just my two cents, though. The waiting sucks, we should know since we get almost every Atlus JRPG on 3DS about six months after the US release.
Gonna get this in february. Preordered the Collector's Edition, that is thankfully not coming with a creepy Agnes figurine this time, at GameStop.
@Kobeskillz The US loves Sony too. Nintendo sells more in North America than other markets purely because more people live there than other markets. PS4 is still destroying the Wii U in sales there just like in Europe. Nintendo are a business and exist to make money, not to make you happy. Releasing two similar games at the same time will eat into their sales.
Man, why so late?
Oh well, I guess my 3DS will be pretty busy with Fire Emblem in February either way.
@ricklongo I sure wish the situation was the other way around. I mean, you guys would be getting Bravely in February, and we'd get Fates that same month. Surely we'll have to wait until at least April ourselves for Fates, if not longer...
Hurry up Amazon, I want to preorder this
This collector's edition is really expensive. $30 for art book and CD?...
Good...it'll give me something to play on the flight to Vegas for my 15th wedding anniversary in June. (Take heart, young gamers...I'm living proof you don't have to give up lengthy JRPGs after marriage.)
@WiiHawk Here, here.
That sucks it doesn't come with a figure...Does anyone know if some of your save carries over from the first game? Cause if it doesn't, I'll just get the UK Special Edition for the figure and thanks to smea, I can play it just fine on my NA New 3DS. Also @SMEXIZELDAMAN, Usually the art book would sell for around $20 and the soundtrack for $30 by itself so really its a great deal.
I'm liking the deluxe artbook, Design Works tend to have really nice high-quality prints. My biggest problem is the other announcement of DQ7 releasing in summer, would suck if they choose the month right after Bravely Second along with a collector's edition of their own.
@Peach64 I understand why they are doing it. I've said it before. Doesn't mean I agree with them holding a finished game for months in their biggest market. Regardless the reason it's still their biggest.
I don't think I'm alone here when I say NoA is absolutely terrible. They had to be forced to release those 3 Wii games. NoA is absolute garbage and treat the us horrible.
I'm not trying to offend anyone in Europe I'm just stating facts. Us is their biggest market and NoA is garbage. That's why I vent.
@kobezskillz
You really need to remeber NoA is a business first and foremost. The 3 games they didn't want to release? Market research must have given them a low sales estimate, just like with Devil's third - people made a fuss, but I bet it didn't sell well. Since both Fe:Fates are big releases, they want to avoid one game affecting negatively the other on. Plus, April doesn't have any big releases. They are catering to the US market that won't have the money to buy two games in a month, just not to your tastes specifically.
Anyway, I still haven't picked up Bravely Default. I have a giant backlog in games...
I'm tempted for the artbook. I might take collector edition, if I can find it when I go buy it - not going to hunt it down though.
YESSSSS SKDFGNPOO0IFJGO[0F'HPZIHG'OSZ[N[ GXISHR[SEYOU DOT UNFERSTAND HOW MUCH IVE BEEN WAITING QWIUHEAPGWHRZ,LJHIU
Called it! I totally freaking called it. No figurine. (because Americans don't like figurines....??)
sigh whatever, that art book looks absolutely amazing though! 250 pages?? And if the soundtrack is half as good as it was in Default, then this shall not disappoint.
@kiigu
Thats probably will not be an option. I have a strong feeling if you don't get it pre ordered, you won't get it at all. But good luck either way.
@GoldenGamer88
How did you pre order it? are you in NA?
Oh good, I still have time to finish the first one before the second comes out...
Gamestop Pre-orders are live for the collector's edition for North America
Just ordered mine right now!

@J-Manix98 I was referring to EU's collector's edition.
