Re: How Well Do You Remember March's Gaming News?

@NintendoLife @JimNorman you missed a perfect opportunity when asking for the correct name of Handheld Mode Boost ! - as pretty much everyone has been calling it "Boost Mode" ! 😂 you could have included that ! and "Handheld Boost Mode" !

@jsty3105 hi. thanks for your reply 👍 it has helped me to consider that people can view this from different angles 🤓 i agree with it possibly being a glass half-full / half-empty scenario ☯️ i had thought that myself.

the point i'd like to make now is that Nintendo is a business, they would never intentionally do anything to harm their profits. i don't believe it's correct to view the situation as "Nintendo pricing digital games cheaper". i can only see it as the digital price being the full price for that game, and the physical version having a 'premium' (so-to-speak), due to it obviously costing money to produce.

btw when i use the word 'premium' i just mean it in terms of the price, as in "a premium on top of the digital price". the word 'premium' can be used and understood in different ways. i meant physical games have a price premium.

my understanding of Nintendo's digital/physical price difference since Switch 2 launched, has always been that the digital price is the full standard price, and the price on physical is higher. but that is indeed just a matter of perspective isn't it.

i can see now that it could be viewed as digital being "cheaper", especially by people who are digital-first, as you say.

i suppose ultimately; "cheaper" and "premium" are neither here nor there. because with any price difference, one is always going to be lower, and one is always going to be higher 🤷 so one person saying the lower price was made cheaper, and another person saying the higher price was made more expensive, is really just a matter of perspective.

but the biggest point is; what the price would be if there was no price difference. and i don't think we can know that, if that even exists. because Nintendo could well have split the difference between the two, couldn't they. rather than one being given a lower price, or one being given a higher price. a split difference; so half lower & half higher.

Re: Nintendo To Change Pricing For Digital & Physical Switch 2 Exclusives, Starting With Yoshi

@jsty3105 hi 👋 why are you saying

it's not a premium because we've had cheaper digital prices in the UK

? cheaper than what ?

Switch 2 exclusive game RRP has indeed always had a premium over digital, in UK and indeed the whole of Europe, as well as Japan.

take Pokopia for example: https://store.nintendo.co.uk/en/pokemon-pokopia-70010000107422
digital RRP £58.99
physical RRP £66.99

surely you can see £58.99 is the games "standard" price, and the physical RRP has a +£8 premium ?

it's the same for all other Switch 2 exclusive games, they all have an £8 physical premium (Mario Tennis Fever, Kirby Air Riders, Hyrule Warriors, Donkey Kong Banaza. and Mario Kart World which is a highest price-tier game at £66.99 digital / £74.99 physical)

*edit: Yoshi actually has a +£9 premium https://store.nintendo.co.uk/en/yoshi-and-the-mysterious-book-70010000119860
digital RRP £49.99
physical RRP £58.99

(Yoshi is a lower price-tier game in every country worldwide)

don't be confused by the "look" of the numbers themselves 🧐 for example: Zelda BotW / TotK NS2E both have RRP of £66.99, but that is because they were both higher price-tier original Switch games to begin with ℹ️ at £59.99 remember.

(NS2E games do not have physical premium price)

I work for a large UK retailer on the business planning side and for Argos

then would you happen to know who is responsible for completely omitting the words "Upgrade Pack" from the recent Argos listings of Upgrade Packs for the Mario Party title https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7746587 as well as both the Zelda titles https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7746604 https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7746611 and the Kirby title https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7746570 ?

because omitting the most important words from a product name is utterly ridiculous, let alone additionally inserting the words "Switch 2 Game" at the ends of the latter three product names. whoever is responsible is either completely clueless, or seeking to intentionally decieve.

perhaps you could communicate the absurdity of doing such to the relevant department

@bojackson if you have a user profile with its account set to japan logged-in on a console then you will always be seeing news articles for that region. the only way to stop it is to remove that user profile from the console or to change that user profile accounts country to a different region via https://accounts.nintendo.com/profile/edit

fyi you only need an account set to japan to initially download the japanese nso nintendo classics apps. after that you can play them using a user profile with its account set to any region 🙂

Argos is now doing the Mario Kart bundle for £30 off at £399.99. They usually now copy Amazon, so the price is probably also there.

sorry (not sorry) to potentially burst your proverbial bubble. but that is actually completely backwards 🙅 all Amazon ever does is price-match other retailers. that is literally their business model. they call it Amazon "dynamic pricing". basically means they only offer better prices if other retailers do.

support the retailers who originate offers. Amazon is a retailer killer. literally

an example right here on this page is the "Switch 2 console £385 Amazon" offer. the only reason Amazon have offered that price is because EE offered it - https://ee.co.uk/products/nintendo-switch-2-console

yet another example right on this page is the "Switch 2 Mario Kart World Bundle £404.95 Amazon" offer. the only reason Amazon had that price is because TheGameCollection offered it - https://www.thegamecollection.net/products/nintendo-switch-2-mario-kart-world-bundle-switch-2 - but what you wouldn't get at Amazon that you would at TGC is £10 back in Reward Points to spend freely on anything else they sell 🤷 - Amazon is constantly price-matching TheGameCollection, it's easy to spot as all TGC prices end in 95p

Amazon has since price-matched Argos with the £399.99 offer

@Cakefish i got the same ! 👍

actually it has been beaten today by ShopTo on eBay = £349 using the discount code shown on the page https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/177268976475

also TopCashBack has had 15% eBay cashback today only which allows use of the aforementioned eBay discount code. so that would make it an absolutely incredible effective price as long as it comes through (cashback is never guaranteed)

Re: Switch 2 Black Friday Deals Are A Bit 'Meh', But Here Are The Best We've Seen

@NintendoLife @JimNorman if you want to display the percentage saving for this offer as a saving of 12%

Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World Bundle + 12-month Nintendo Switch Online Membership + Yoshi Ornament - £429.99 (-12%), My Nintendo Store

then you need to adjust the percentage savings for the other Mario Kart World Bundle offers (to also account for the MKW Bundle saving over the cost of buying the solus console + separate game)

else that My Nintendo Store offer needs to be shown as a 5.7% saving:

£429.99 + £17.99 + £7.99 = £455.97

£429.99 ÷ £455.97 = 0.943

= 5.7% saving

@Broch83 can pre-order it for less than full price !!! 🥳 + free metal keychain from ShopTo.net / TheGameCollection.net / Hit.co.uk 🤩👍

possible 5% discount via a ShopTo referral link (mine: https://www.shopto.net/?stref=48411)

i believe Currys have the lowest pre-order price (10% discount at checkout) but no keychain sadly

Currys also have a good price on the PowerA themed S2 case £13.99 (£17.99 elsewhere)

Re: Nintendo's Black Friday Offers Include Deals On Switch 1 Games, amiibo, And More

jco83

@NintendoLife @JimNorman many of your UK console prices are wrong; Switch 2 Mario Kart World bundle has been £409 / £409.99 from multiple retailers, for a number of weeks now.

£409: EE, John Lewis, AO, Currys, Amazon, Very.
£409.99: Smyths, Argos.

ℹ️ also: EE has had Switch 2 standalone at £385 / Switch 2 Pokemon Legends Z-A bundle at £415, for some time now.
