can you provide a link to prove the claim that consumers are legally permitted to make a duplicate copy of commercial software, and use it?

the use of the word "emulated" doesn't seem correct here. as a hacked Switch console wouldn't emulate pirated games, it would run them natively.

can you actually share a link where UK law says it allows this ? else it is nothing more than heresay.

all i could find is the 2014 exceptions to copyright https://www.gov.uk/guidance/exceptions-to-copyright which allowed exceptions but only for very specific reasons.

@Jumwa someone may have already replied to you, but if you factory reset a banned switch 2, you can no longer connect to the internet to set it up, bricking the system… so yes, this can brick a system

this is false. set up does not require online connection. do not perpetuate false heresay

@NFrealinkling The problem is defining pirating. I and many others (though we are perhaps in the minority of most use cases) use the MIG on S1 so I don't lose my carts, saving money in the process. Thats not pirating, as I still own the original carts.

you, like those others, are all misinformed. try actually looking at the law you incorrectly use.

that law states you can make a backup copy for archival purposes. not for use.

so there we have it . . . every single person who has been regurgitating this same thing, all this time, is absolutely incorrect

Spike Chunsoft has confirmed to us that the Switch 1 and Switch 2 releases of the upcoming game fans can upgrade the Switch 1 version of the game to the Switch 2 version are "separate" releases, and that there is "no upgrade for it."

The reality about downloaded games is that ALL gaming services go offline eventually. Every company takes down their servers at some point.

Playstation shut down the PS Vita. Nintendo shut down the 3DS and WiiU. They all do it.

the actual reality is that ALL digital purchases can still be redownloaded now. even original Wii digital purchases can still be redownloaded to this day . . .

You forgot to mention that it requires internet connection the first time you START the game as well. It is not only for download.

so it looks like CD Projekt Red (Cyberpunk 2077) and Marvelous are the only ones supporting game-on-cart releases in the west . . . hopefully other publishers will decide to take this route🤞

but FYI it is called "Expansion Pack" membership.

@Gohanjin i just feel that Currys offering that big a discount on launch games for a brand new platform isn't realistic. Amazons cheaper prices for Samsung microSD Express 256GB card, Piranha Plant Camera, Bravely Default & Street Fighter, have been due to them all being EU stock 🧐 (not UK stock)

these are Euro version releases. they are sold by Amazon EU. they did have their correct product images when they were initially listed, the images showed French language at the bottom of the case. so the back will be French language also. the game will be Euro-wide version of course, so support all European languages.
