@russell-marlow it’s not rude. I asked myself the same question after finishing Gris in less than 10, maybe 5 hours. Though it is short, it is very beautiful and thought provoking and emotional.
I decided Gris was a 10 in my rating. The game blew me away.
@Otoemetry Very true. But as a caretaker for five goats and a chicken, I still love farm sims (when done well). Maybe that’s because I can do all the work with only a few button pushes.
@Tyranexx absolutely. I did that with TotK and was so happily surprised when a tree got up to attack me on my first session. What a game to go into knowing only a little. Likewise, after watching the very first trailer, I have avoided all news on EoW. Yes, I accidentally saw a headline on this site—but I will start the game knowing very little. And I am excited! It can be done.
I just got back into TotK. After finishing the game a year ago with 230 hours, I am back into it completing quests I never finished. This game is so good!
Good review! Thanks for the details: while a typo error once in a while can be funny, too many does take me out of the immersion. That said, the game as a whole seems worthwhile. Thanks!
Took advice of reviewer and went into game with no knowledge. Agree with review, the game is great. Read review after game, and I don’t have anything to add. Thanks for the review!
“Highly challenging stages” in the description nixes it for me.
Also, I would hesitate to compare to Celeste. This game looks like others I’ve played where there is one room/screen after another—challenging, fun yes, but lacking overall narrative continuity.
I will always remember the 5000+ times I died in Celeste, not only because it was hard, but also because I had to finish the story.
@BoFiS I recently finished Big City Little Kitty and it was great. But this looks on a whole different level. I am interested, but will wait to see how reviewers judge the visuals. I can hope.
I absolutely love this article! Great reading! I also have multiple maps hung on walls. Every game I play I secretly evaluate the maps for how they communicate to the player. Thank you for your knowledge of the subject and writing it so well!
@Snatcher I love Okami, but I do remember it was too long. At some point, maybe 25 hours into it, I thought it was done. Then there was another 10 some hours. While I love the art and gameplay, I wish it was shorter. I understand that you didn’t finish it.
@jorel262 yes, I loved it on 3ds. First because it was a good game with good story, second because it was like no other game I played on 3ds. Sad that eshop closed, but I hope for you it gets ported.
This game somehow reminds me of Attack of the Friday Monsters. I know it’s different, but I just get a simple playful vibe. I look forward to playing the demo.
Great soapbox! I thought I was a little strange making a simple spreadsheet of games I’ve played with simply genre and my personal score of how I liked it. You take it to another level. Good article!
@abe_hikura thank you for your take on Build. I almost bought it a few days ago on 40% sale, but I decided not. I am happy with that decision. I love Dig and liked Heist, but I just thought Build didn’t look as interesting and fun.
@DripDropCop146 “plot urgency takes a backseat to freedom”. Good take: I don’t think I considered that. I still loved both games and I see and appreciate your words.
My amiibo look sweet on my shelf with my other Nintendo stuff. Sure, I used them a little in some games, but for me they are cool reminders of great games I’ve played.
Like others said here: I enjoyed it, I wanted to continue playing but difficulty, together with punishment for failing, frustrated me to the point where I said goodbye. I don’t mind a difficult game: I died 5000 times in Celeste, but I would simply restart the room. HK would throw me back to a save point too far back. I really appreciate Prince of Persia: the boss battles were taking me way too long. So I was able to change difficulty and finish the game. I understand that some games are too hard for me, I respect that. But I also like when a game allows a gamer with my abilities the chance to experience the game easier.
@FirstEmperor ok, late reply. You make a good point. Yes Mario Kart is incredible, but look what’s below ACNH: Wonder, Princess Peach, Splatoon 3, all newer games with decent sales.
Mario Kart has incredibly amazing sales, but I would argue ACNH has pretty amazing sales itself.
Song of Nunu. Very good so far, much more linear than my last game Prince of Persia. Back to racing on Grid, I was playing a good bit of WRC for a while, but Grid’s visuals are better. Rocket League and to chill out: Stitch.
This is a great game that I finished just about a week ago. I am more into exploring and the story, but the bosses were good. Some of the platforming sections were intense! Having enjoyed it for 30 hours, I think I am done now.
You got me with “beautiful art and music”. I skipped most of review to avoid spoilers, but I will check out review after game. Thank you for the review!
Over 200 hours, less time than BotW, but I like TotK better. I love the verticality of the game. And that plays into the final part of battle. Sorry if spoiler.

While I love this website, I have been trying to avoid news of EoW. What a great game! Now: back to the game…

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (14th September)
A week back into TotK, and I see no end in sight. I am using the book to find remaining quests, there is so much in this game!
Happy gaming everyone!

Re: Hold It! An Ace Attorney Investigations Collection Free Demo Is Now Available
@WoomyNNYes I was about to post the same thing. I’ve always been curious, but too cautious to buy. I look forward to checking this out.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (17th August)
Just finished Tchia, great game and I love the endgame. Tried a couple demos, also playing Unleashed 2, Rocket League and Stitch.
Happy gaming everyone!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (17th August)
@Late I forgot about that quest in Yoku, but I agree it’s a great game. Especially how they incorporate pinball seemlessly into gameplay.
Re: Review: Tchia (Switch) - A Brilliantly Fun (And Surprisingly Adult) Animal-Hopping Adventure

Re: Asphalt Legends Unite Free Expansion Launches On Switch This Month
@JalapenoSpiceLife @Wilforce I was also wondering why I stopped, then I remembered that the racing is good, but too much of the game is not racing.
Give me a game where I am in the drivers seat as much as possible, and not asking for money.
Re: Review: The Garden Path (Switch) - A Green-Thumbed Ode To Animal Crossing That Needs Tending
“Control issues” is what stands out to me. It breaks the immersion when I am constantly trying to figure that out. Thanks for the review!

I loved this survey. I hope I passed.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (3rd August)
Tchia, and as NL review suggested, I am going into the game blind. So far it’s great!
I finished Little Kitty Big City this past week. It was better than expected, I definitely recommend it, on sale.
Rocket League, Unleashed 2, Travel Mosaics.
Happy gaming everyone!

@FishyS thank you for your comment about Bo, I was a little concerned about difficulty level, but I think I can do it.

Finished Little Kitty Big City, great game, when on sale. Rocket League and Unleashed 2.

Okay, forgive my ignorance. I’ve never done this. What’s the best way to transfer to a new memory card?
Re: Natsu-Mon: 20th Century Summer Kid Is Getting A Local Switch Release This August

@SilverM Thank you for that information! I’d forgotten that, but now I know!

@Ocaz wow, I completely overlooked that as I read the article. You are absolutely right. I guess I took it for granted, but shouldn’t have.

Re: Talking Point: Could Another Nintendo Series Take Over The 'Traditional' Zelda Template?
Mallow from Pushmo. Dungeons filled with block pulling puzzles, and give the guy a sword. That’s my hope.
Re: New 2D Adventure 'The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom' Announced For This September
This reveal was the best part of the direct for me. I like the art style and playing as Zelda is great.
While I expected Zelda to wield a weapon, I am excited to try the echo ability. I love a game that allows more than one way to overcome obstacles.
While I was really hoping for ww, I think I am happier with this. Go Zelda!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (15th June)
Got Planet of Lana on sale, and it is good. Beautiful visuals. Stitch is still my favorite chill game. WRC 10 and Rocket League.
Happy gaming everyone!

Re: Japanese Charts: Ring Fit Adventure Jumps Into Second In A Quiet Week For Sales
New Horizons is fourth, despite being four years old. I find that amazing.
Re: Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown Rolls Out Free Boss Attack Switch Update
This is a great game that I finished just about a week ago. I am more into exploring and the story, but the bosses were good. Some of the platforming sections were intense! Having enjoyed it for 30 hours, I think I am done now.

TotK rules.
