Re: Talking Point: As Nintendo Switch Looks to Rapidly Overtake Wii U Sales, 3DS Lives On

dAvecaster

The people in my extended family who are into gaming have either gone for xb1 or ps4. I don't think they will get another console. I didn't get a wii u and I am unsure about whether to get a switch eventually. It is really this thing about having lots of games. If it has lots of games I'll be tempted but I'd like, for example, a realistic driving game which Ninty never make. So yes it has things to prove.

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Direct Summary - 12th April

Very pleased I have a 3ds. Really looking forward to the rpg maker thingy. My son is also excited about the prospect of sharing rpgs with the world (as he said it's what Mario Maker 3ds should have done).

As for the Switch, not too bothered that I don't own one. It looked ok but I won't be going out to buy one any time soon.

Re: Site News: Nintendo Life is Red, Nintendo Life was Blue

I don't care about the colour (although I'd like more pink).
But why are some bits of the main page side by side articles then the next section single articles before going back to side by side? Any chance of the option to shove it back into a single only format like the blue page could?

Re: New Hack Offers A Full Game Library On Your NES Classic Edition

So I've had posts edited my mods for referencing the fact that Dreamcast could play 'legally questionable' games (years after the death of the system). Now we have articles which not only highlight how current hardware can too but also includes video links. Surely, the mods should be moving on this?

Re: Brexit Could Increase Super Mario Run's Unlock Cost In The UK

Ah Brexit. The arguments will run for years. With the right getting more angry that people dare to disagree with 'the will of the people' and struggling to find who to blame -remember kids the immigration excuse will only wash for a few more generations! (but then there's always the lefty snowdrops, anyone who generally disagrees with them and anyone who isn't 'positive' enough, to fall back on) all the while making vacuous claims about how patriotic they are. And it's nice to hear Ms May this very day saying that its all been done for my children.

Well I guess they won't be getting Mario Run.

Quick everyone: Think positive thoughts and it won't raise. In fact it should come down! Join me in giving it a try

Re: Review: Ice Station Z (3DS eShop)

dAvecaster

I've never had any problems finding populated online games. Yes, it is a basic game in terms of presentation. Yes there are many bugs. But there is something to be enjoyed here. I felt I got value for money. The sparse soundscape added to the atmosphere for me. Scratching around trying to find resources is challenging and suited to a survival horror type game.

I encourage folks to read the review in the forums, if anyone's interested in this game.

Re: Editorial: The Wii U Has Been Nintendo's Lowest Selling Home Console; It Deserved Better

Watching from the outside (I don't actually own a Wii U) it's always had a sort of car crash quality. Titles which should have made me take the plunge somehow missed the mark (although Star Fox Zero missed by a country mile). My brother in law was kind enough to lend me has for a while as he said he never uses it. I enjoyed it for a while but again never fully got the bug. Oh well. Bye Wii U!

Re: Talking Point: The Problems With My Nintendo So Far, and Why All's Not Lost

Interesting about what you said about the home themes being naff. I Finally signed up to it last night went through a few 'missions' downloaded the Link theme. I thought the picture was ok but the 'music' was awful. I don't recall any time that Link got into a lift (perhaps that awaits us in Breath of Wild) so I couldn't understand why that music was chosen.

Re: Reggie Fils-Aime on Why the Wii U Was Misunderstood

dAvecaster

I agree with all who have said Nint didn't know what it was doing. Just add that the controller also didn't do many of the cool things I was expecting. For example when I first played MK8 and the screen controller couldn't be used in multiplay without showing the split screen on the tv. 5 player local would have been fantastic. But used as it was, why look at a tiny screen compared to the tv?

Re: Nintendo Share Price Falls to Lowest Point in Over a Year as Global Markets React to 'Brexit'

dAvecaster

I am pretty sure they'd be riots if the referendum was not seen to be binding, we have apparently 'improved' our democracy through this decision, after all. I wait with baited breath to see what our British Rights will turn out to be (considering the restrictions this government have put on strikes I can't see it being a huge freedom.)
Ninty may choose to pull out. We are a tiny market and if the value of the pound doesn't suit why would they bother?

Re: Editorial: Fire Emblem Fates and Code Name S.T.E.A.M., Two Very Different Intelligent Systems Ventures

Loved CodeName steam. Love the song. It's the most played 3ds game on my system (behind mii plaza. The top 10 are mainly ds games not too sure what that says about my gaming tastes -or the 3ds' output).
Anyway I thought it was well worth the money (I got it on sale). The online not so good because unless you have the best characters you will be exterminated so it can be very one sided.
