I no longer buy remakes. Instead I get better value from spending money on modding my old consoles. I have these on Wii, which is modded and output is scaled to 4K.

Much better value to hdmi mod your Wii.

I’ve just cleared the first act, so far I’ve not found the game anymore taxing than the previous when comparing difficulty. Maybe it ramps up from here? Looking forward to finding out!

I don’t agree on adding difficulty levels, this is game is all about the challenge. If you walked through all the bosses and areas, it wouldn’t give you the same experience.

This console is the next Dreamcast, in 2 years it will be done.

The cost of entry is too high, and why buy new overpriced games when there’s already a massive and awesome library available.

I could spend more but I just don’t want to.

@Yoshi3 it was definitely Twilight that ended the excitement for the series classic formula, at least for me and my friends. At the time, I remember because after Wind Waker (which is quite similar to BoTW in many ways) everyone wanted a dark and gritty Zelda with modern graphics and when we got it, the world that was provided was lifeless, muddy and mostly been done before. My opinion is that handhelds don’t count, they never pushed the series forward, they were typically space / time fillers, home console versions brought the innovation. I’m a huge fan of all Zelda’s but it had to evolve to stay relevant.

@Yoshi3 You mean 15 years, the series was dead after Wind Waker and that’s only 6 games on home consoles. It’s been 8 years of this new formula and these games didn’t benefit from 2D to 3D tech and the improvements in controls schemes etc. I’m old now and I own and played them all, literally 1000’s of hours. BoTW and ToTK hands down beat out OoT and MM for sense of adventure, I do miss the classic art style of the N64 games though that’s pretty much all I miss.

Not sure how people are calling BoTW or ToTK boring. The old Zelda formula was pretty stale by Twilight/Skyward. These games reinvigorated the franchise.

There’s a good amount of difference between this and the original. Triggers are softer, d-pad is less stiff and can go in 8 directions, z button and face buttons have more bounce to them kinda like gba sp buttons.

@Kwyjibo_Kitsune don’t take my word for it yet, I was playing at 2am and my eyesight sucks 🤣 I’m going to have a proper test later today. I’m really hoping I was just tired, those STGs are my most played games on the system.

@outsider83 yeah I’m 100% feeling this, total lack of excitement. But that could just be me, I’ve been around a while…

@Mana_Knight I’ve found this on games with pixel style graphics, it just doesn’t look as good, like M2’s STG games just look blurry. Hopefully we get some patches to fix the resolution, I’m glad I kept my OLED.

It’s a nice device but it’s just more of the same for even more money than previous? Guess I kinda miss the crazy gimmicks the older consoles implemented. Disappointed they didn’t do anything with the system menu, seems the same as switch 1? This kinda killed the experience when turning it on the first time, the game card thing is confusing, don’t know why I still need my old console around to access my games. I wasn’t paying attention to the change in memory cards and now I have to spend even more money… Let’s hope for more interesting games soon, hope it’s not just PS4 ports… overall it’s decent but feel like it’s lacking something special but maybe that’s just me getting old 🤣

Got one of these for exclusive use on my original GameCube. I won’t be getting the expansion packs. There’s a few small differences when comparing to the original controller but overall it’s a very nice controller.

Shame they didn’t support older cards just at lower speeds, feels like it’s an excuse just to keep you buying memory again for the next 8 years… With the games and memory cards being so expensive and the console being so similar to the previous gen (just better performance) excitement for it in my house is pretty low. Can’t see this selling as well as the previous gen.

Been testing it today, I feel like there’s a little more delay on DOJ than the original switch? But it could be my tired brain.

All previous switch models did this, the switch lite was the worst for it though.

I’ll be scalping mine for double the price 😆

I’ll be playing my backlog and probably only be picking up a select few games for Switch 2.

I’ve ordered this to use exclusively on my original GC console. Hopefully 8bitdo update their adapter to support it, like they’ve done with the SNES controller.

Took Nintendo way too long to provide an option to play GC games, and they will spend the next 8 years slowly releasing a fraction of the consoles library. In the meantime I’ve modded my GameCube to output 2K with all my games backed up to SD, supported by a Memcard Pro it’s so much better than NSO. NSO provides no value outside of cloud saves and even this is poorly implemented…

I ordered the turrican games they did, but it took so long I forgot about them and was surprised when they turned up.

I’ll stick with the PS2 version as there will be too much content removed.

@BringleWorkshop Yeah, recent translations are opening up a massive libraries on the older consoles! I’m currently playing through the SNES Fire Emblems we never got. I really enjoyed ToTK and Dread but I slowly chipped away at Wonder until I finished it, wasn’t bad just didn’t grab me like the older ones, I can’t even remember a single stage from it. I don’t think newer games are all bad but there’s nothing truly compelling anymore like it was during the earlier generations. As you say I think there’s more fun to be had revisiting games you missed or translations patches.

I have recently setup all my old consoles, fitted them with ODE, flash drives and HDMI mods. I’m not paying for anymore remasters, remakes or online services. I have a back log of games to keep me entertained for life, free of subscriptions. The corporations want to keep you paying, without ever owning anything.

Nintendo don’t do much when they are making money, so expect the announcement at the latest possible date.

Capcom announces that it has long since run out of ideas.

Everything just looks so dull nowadays, guess I’m just out of touch as none of these games look remotely interesting to me. I think gaming has definitely passed its best period, I’m thankful for my massive backlog 😅

Who else was waiting for the Xmas sale? Where this game will be a guaranteed £15… why buy when you know Ubisoft will drop price.

It’s a good game I have it for Vita but with so many other games available, I won’t be returning.

Best game on Gameboy. Probably the only Nintendo game I’d like a remaster for Switch.

Looks decent, don’t know if it’s just me nitpicking but there is too much sparkle effects when characters are getting hit and it is hiding the lazy animations.

Before transferring to a new console always check to see if it’s worth it. I transferred my Wii to my Wii U and it was huge mistake. Ended up hacking my Wii to return my games to it.

I skipped all story, boring support / bonding / relationship and world hub stuff and just played the maps and I had a blast with this game. Hope next time they skip the world hub stuff it’s so dull and focus on the story but with similar gameplay to engage.
