It definitely has to come out on the promised platforms first. In the time between if they could work out some licensing rights to get 1.5 and 2.5 HD (maybe just 2.8 too?) onto Switch I would gladly purchase them
Its a pretty varied list. There seems to be at least one game to appeal to someone but if you ONLY like one game genre, something like shooters with Splatoon, then you're pretty SOL.
Theres variety but not much variety within the variety. If you like shooty games you've got one but the game isnt garunteed to be infinitely fun and its all thats there. No Destiny, no Overwatch, nothing to give a change of pace.
Who knows though. Much like ARMS and Pokken are Nintendo's answer to the fighting game scene, they may have more answers to the genre. It would be kind of wild to find out that Retro Studios has been working on a online multiplayer shooter this whole time
I've gotten better rewards out of a litter box after feeding my cat than Nintendo has offered on My Nintendo.
The only really memorable reward that made me feel like I wasn't wasting my time was WarioWare and that was one of the very first rewards. Every time after has just been a dud.
Yeah this would have been a killer if they put more effort into New 3DS exclusive content. Other than that Fire Emblem Warriors game and VC SNES, there's not much reason to pick one up is there?
What would be pretty funny is if this was in preparation for a reveal that the next Pokemon games would only be playable on New 3DS
A port of Smash Bros. would help fill in the gaps around ARMS and Splatoon. Granted, there's no way anyone is going to really want to play Smash with those tiny Joy-Cons even with the grips but just the novelty of busting it out setting it up and doing a 1 vs 1 anywhere is cool, like with MK8 Deluxe
Kind of odd. I've played at least 100 hours exclusively in handheld mode and my system is straight as the day I received it.
As far as NintendoLife posting about this, I don't think it was just made to start trouble or drama, just putting it out to see if anyone on the site had the same issues regarding their own consoles (which seems to be no one else so far but who knows)
They've basically already missed an ENTIRE generation of 3rd party games and even if the NX is as powerful as a PS4 they're in the same position as the Wii U was where it came out at the tail end of a generation of hardware. The next consoles Sony and Microsoft have on offer are coming and Nintendo will be behind again so aiming for highest end graphics is like a lost cause. Doubling down on performance is a fine trade off for not being the prettiest girl on the block ifyouknwwhatImean
I don't think the NX will be backwards compatible with the 3DS. This seems like the efforts to keep the 3DS alive and satisfy customers before the curtain falls on the "DS and Wii" era. I mean, if you COULD play 3DS games on the NX I dont see why Nintendo would even bother marketing another style of New 3DS system if they want people to buy their new shiny thing in 6 months.
Granted, backwards compatibility is a neat selling point, but if anything I'd rather have a high resolution port of a game like Kid Icarus Uprising to play on the system rather than the horribly dated look of most 3DS titles
If it was just platinum rewards that were pretty lackluster I wouldnt complain too much, since it is free junk (technically it costs moments of your time to earn platinum coins but whatever) but the gold rewards are equally as unfulfilling and boring. Discounts on games Ive owned for years, VC games I couldn't care less about (looking at you Metroid II) and long availability cycles which makes waiting for something new a chore and doesnt make me want to spend my coins because other than the expiry date Ive got all the time in the world
It feels like the 3DS launch again, where most of the potential isnt being realized and we're missing some key components to make investing in My Nintendo worthwhile
The Wii brand sunk it, or rather their plan to coast on a name associated with shovelware and poor graphics. The wii craze was more short lived than their research allowed them to see because they just saw dollar signs and not the gamestops flooded with dime a dozen party games and game show games.
When they couldnt get casual players back on board they had to aim for the more hardcore gamer market but didnt have the support nor the graphics to back them up compared to the PS4 and XBone
As long as the NX isnt called the Nintendo Wii X or something they'll already have a leg up on the Wii U. With a mobile presence coming, hopefully this spells an attempt to aim for the casuals in the mobile marketplace and not on their console
A CEO of a game company excited about a new game console? Color me surpised and shocked and amazed and astounded and flabbergast and b l o w n a w a y
It'd be more news worthy if he said it was a piece of garbage. General statements like this dont provide any notable insight aside from publishers being careful not to crap where they eat.
Theres a lot of pressure now that its this successful. Gotta keep it running well enough for everyone around the world, gotta keep interest up by adding features, gotta make sure it doesnt fade out of public conscious like miitomo
I havent spent any money yet. Im fortunate enough to have a lot of Pokestops near my job. I'm sure theres a wall I'll hit that'll make me want to fork over a few bucks but I'm walking like 5km a day and on my way I'm getting more than enough items and Pokemon.
@gatorboi352 its basically been written on the cards that they would have to stop eventually and the NX rumored handheld console combination whozamawhatzit makes me believe theyre stopping next gen. And honestly I wouldnt mind. At the pace tech is advancing they make a handheld and it will get outclassed by the next smartphone. They couldnt keep up. Like, the 3DS was old on arrival
Playing Breath of the Wild on a portable device I need to see to believe. The idea of a full console on the go has been toyed with before and I cant think of one thats fully successful but Nintendo wouldn't be Nintendo if they couldnt get lightning in a jar.
As far as potential size to handle a machine like that we've past the days of the Game Gear and Lynx and the Nomad but if we can carry around tablets, Ipads, giant smartphones, etc we can handle a rather large gaming device. Carry cases exist for a reason
Not being able to change your room, get a pet, do anything but play pachinko and answer way too personal questions makes me hope that the Animal Crossing game will be worth more of my time. With AC the fundamental structure of the game is built around customizing yourself and your home so we're guaranteed that at the very least.
Miitomo had a lot of promise and more minigames could have made it a solid time waster but its too bare to be anything more than a novelty app
The Pokewalker cost about 10 dollars and it does more functionally than this thing. The only way I can see this being purchased is 1) more than a select few beta access players can actually play it and it turns out good and 2) if its like Pokemon Rumble where putting in the amount of money equivalent to buying a full game gives you the game sans microtransactions and the Go Plus counts as that
Its already been confirmed theres a currency system in place but because its a beta right now players are getting ludicrous amounts at a time each day so they dont run out of items or anything. Nobody knows how much that daily allowence will shrink to or if it will even exist in the final game.
I just realy hope they add much more interesting incentives in July, when these rather lukewarm deals expire. Another downloadable DS game would be fantastic. Heck maybe more than just one?
I would definitely love to play Super Mario 64 DS or New Super Mario Bros. My platinum points are just fermenting
Of the legendary plushes, Darkrai is one of the only other ones I want. I have Mew and want Arceus. Theres no way Im collecting them all but if I have those three Ill be good
WarioWare ans Zelda Picross got my hopes up for exclusive downloadable games but it seems in order to give everyone a chance to get them they've extended their availability into July/August. Which is fine but they should have added more than those to keep a decent rotation. These discounts are hardly worth the effort it takes to make the necessary amount of platinum points
Is the N3DS version's price going down to 19.99 as well? I'd pick it up if thats the case. If not, I dont see why they wouldnt and would be a bit disappointed
Two lackluster e3 showings in a row would really suck. It felt like they were spread thin last year to make room for an NX blowout this year but no NX this year means theyll have to sell a gallon of water with a cup of milk in it as ice cream
To be fair, anyone could have guessed this kind of basic information and like what some have said above, without these features we'd be looking at another Wii U type fiasco
As far as ports go, I dont mind as long as theyre ports of really good games. The likelyhood of it being Ubisofts dumping ground by way of the last few assasins creed games is high but Dark Souls and Final Fantasy would be pretty cool
Its really fun when you see friends of friends reacting to threads of comments and nonsense. Really, I feel the apps enjoyability is relient on how foolish you can be as well as sincerity. Its a much better supplement to social media than a social media app itself though, since I find myself bouncing between it and twitter, Twitter being my main focus
