Re: Feature: What The Smash Pros Have Done To Prepare For Smash Bros. Ultimate

coolaggro

Great article, yes more please!

If we’re talking about smash taking off further in the competitive scene, the next key support thing will be continued balancing changes that make sense both in the implementation and timing. Street fighter V has seasons which I don’t advocate for smash but it lets them and the players have a good idea of when new changes will come out.

Nintendo needs to keep as much of the roster relevant as possible for as long as possible. Being broken or having only a pool of viable characters will decrease the competitive scene’s popularity

The first one was in no way balanced and it had its flaws to start out but I loved how fun it was. The stuff you could do was great and I loved the pairings of new and old players. I’m excited for more players. I hope the unlocking system is a bit more favorable to me this time around. Took me forever to unlock my favorite character last time.

Re: Soapbox: Why I Prefer Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate To World

coolaggro

Generations ultimate and world both have some great parts to them. I’m hoping the next one combines the great parts of both and put them on the next one, on switch for on the go gaming too!

World has some very good parts. But the weapon designs are boring, some armor too, not enough armor set bonuses especially early on, the hit points being shown is not ideal, the fireflies are like gps where I don’t know the map at all because I just follow gps, takes you out of the world, they should be able to be turned off too, too few monsters, the village elements were really spread out, the game was too spread out in its difficulty, and a lot of design could be just really bland, even the coral highlands which are the more vibrant one. The maps need to be more streamlined and condensed possibly (the treetops of the first area comes to mind) and more maps might have been more fun too although the number was about par for the course I guess. And the healing while moving was just lame, although I’m sure many will disagree.
Then, generations has some stuff that needs improvement like all of the quality of life stuff. But man the monsters armor and weapons are so much more vibrant and varied. These are really what I play for so I like ultimate more so far.

Oddly and funnily, one of the nicer and interesting choices was having trading, farming, palicoes and the whole shebang be able to be managed from your home in generations.

Re: You Can Pre-Order Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate On Switch From The Nintendo UK Store Now

@Kimyonaakuma a lot of the fun of monster hunter is building towards better armor and weapons so you won’t get that from the demo. Also, the demo doesn’t have a tutorial sadly but you can look at the hunters notes or whatever they’re called. You can find them by pushing + I think. Check those out for a list of combos at least. The combat is good and you will get a sense of that from the demo but certainly not as good or as meaningful as the full game

Re: Is 'Switch Tax' A Real Concern, Or Just A Myth?

coolaggro

Probably already been said but a more fair comparison would be to compare the price between switch and PS4/Xbox.
The switch tax is worrisome for sure, but I actually do not mind paying a bit more so I can play it on the go. Hence with Wolfenstein, Doom, etc.

I just finished playing through this game (the first time), it was fantastic. The writing and voice acting was really good and felt realistic. I enjoyed the atmosphere. Recommended to listen to with headphones if you're playing on the go. The music was good too

Re: Review: The Flame in the Flood (Switch eShop)

Just got this game not too long ago and the difficulty was way higher than I expected. I've played the game 3 times and died each time, not getting more than a few days. I still have not been able to find enough materials to build a bow and arrow or traps or anything to deal with boars (just have to run away). The areas and items given to you are random and therefore it feels more like I'm dying and being punished because I am unlucky rather than unskilled (although I am that too). I'm a bit disappointed with it.

Re: Nintendo Under Fire For Not Improving Supply Lines And Sourcing Minerals From Conflict Zones

coolaggro

@Heavyarms55 People make up a business. Businesses need to stand up for ethical practices. Just because you can do something does not mean that you should do something unethical just to get a few extra bucks.

The steel industry has largely pushed back against the use of conflict minerals which shows it is possible. The process is not complete but ungoing.

It requires organizations to take charge and make the push-- pushing from the consumer level will never make it happen. Organizations, likely of several companies together, must band together and make an industry-wide push. In an industry with as few players as this one (processors or video games or however you look at it), this industry should be able to push back and be successful.

Great game, the music and personality made it. Had some hard challenges in some of it too but just fun jumping around and grooving with the music.

Re: Three Kirby Soundtracks Are Now Available For Streaming

@RandomLeo00 Search for the full album name. It also came up when I searched for kirby 25th, and Kirby robobot. Although Robobot alone did not come up with anything which is interesting.

Kirby's dream band is a band that has some great arrangements of Kirby stuff. Worth checking them out as well

Re: Soapbox: The Best Changes For Smash Bros. Ultimate Are The Ones We Didn’t Ask For

coolaggro

I want a better online experience and a long period of balancing changes that make sense and are based on data-- what Splatoon seems to do.
And yes, like most, I wanted a story or some fun thing to do in single player. Like character specific smash the targets again.

That includes getting rid of some stupid and annoying combos. I would also like a nerf to shields in a way and it seems we sort of got that. Anyway we'll see what it becomes.

Re: Feature: Here's What Pro Players Want From Super Smash Bros On Switch

coolaggro

Better online is the largest thing I want but yes, keep up with the balancing. I would also like them to move more away from the combos-- hitting tilt up A over and over again is just lame. You should have counters to everything.
Speaking of which, capping the knockback on a counter would be nice. If I recall, it was 2X of any attack, which is just silly. Taking away counters from a lot of characters would be nice too. Right now, way too many of them have counters. Get original.
More stages and ice climbers will be nice. And I agree on the whole omega thing.
