It's safe to say, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the most anticipated Switch title of 2018.
In preparation for its release, this December, Best Buy stores across America are hosting a special demo event allowing members of the public to try out the game in select locations. The event starts on September 8th and will run until October 7th. There will also reportedly be prizes up for grabs.
Unfortunately, the link for this event no longer appears to be active on the Best Buy website, so below is the full list of locations courtesy of comicbook.com:

Yup, my area still left out as usual.
Yeah they left out my area too, the capital of the country no less lol. Thankfully will be in Atlanta end of September so hopefully will get a chance to play!
I don't live in any of those areas, oh well...
wish it wasn't in Dallas and closer to where i'm at.
Cool none are.in my area. Not surprising though. Nothing cool.ever comes to my area
Well I certainly don't have the time to drive 5+ hours to demo this game, kind of wish they at least did this as widespread as they did for Smash 4. We got that here in Omaha.
I really wish they would've just put out a demo instead then I remembered dataminers exist.
The closest to me is a 4-hour drive. And I was just there a couple of weeks ago. Dammit, my timing was off.
Whoa, they're actually coming to Minnesota? And it's near me? Huh. I haven't played a Smash game since Melee, but I suppose I should try to make it out on the 22nd, if only to say I did it.
I am impressed Best Buy is still around. It's been a while since I've been back in the states but I had heard the company was right on the verge of bankruptcy a while back. Perhaps the failure of other brick and mortar stores has shifted enough business back to them that they can remain viable.
I always had a love/hate relationship with them. It seemed like they had a little of everything electronic, but never a great selection, and everything was always just slightly more expensive than the same product elsewhere.
Oh right, SSB... I'd rather have a demo I can download. Short of that, I will wait for the actual release.
I ain’t driving several hours to the Bay Area for that, why not just have every Best Buy host it.
Wow, a whole 10 places across America, so generous!
/sarcasm
Seems odd to not have a wider demo release in this day and age. Nearest one is 8+ hours from me... never any love for Missouri. Just give us a downloadable demo.
Once again the Midwest is completely disregarded.
@Luke937: The Mid-what? Kidding, I share your pain. The nearest one to me is a four hour drive or train ride.
A closer city like St. Louis would have at least been doable.
No Buffalo?! 😡
Why not just release it on the eshop -__-
Of course nothing near me. But I can wait. I don’t need a demo to know how good this game is.
Not in Canada. I can wait for the real thing in December, no need to play a beta version.
Cool and all, but why not release a demo to the general public? IDC if it has less characters/stages. I just want to get used to the new mechanics.
Would love to go to the Best Buy on the Upper West Side. Anyone have tickets to NYC? lol
A longtime bugbear of mine has always been why companies don’t release their pre-release demos for the public to download?
E3 would be even better if the same demos they use there were available for a limited time (48 hours?) after E3 had finished.
This demo should be on the eshop.
Gee, 10 locations, wow, how convenient! I'll be sure to drive seven hours to the nearest one, thanks Best Buy!
how thoughtful, just moved to Dallas and there is a demo literally 5 minutes away
@Klunk23 'Omaha, somewhere in middle America...' sorry, that Counting Crows song came in to my head straight away!
@Nookingtons I'm pretty sure Nintendo don't care what language you speak as long as you have money to spend.
Wow that’s idiotic. How can Dallas get one but Houston doesn’t?
Screw that Nintendo
My kid was bugging me yesterday to take him to this. I told him to just play the Wii U version we own instead, or the Brawl version, or Meelee, but he saw through my sarcasm so we'll see if I can find a place to park for $22 or less.
Took almost two days. Also, How come my state is one of the most populous yet I have to drive several hours either to Atlanta or New York just to play a demo at Best Buy?
@coolaggro I know how you feel. I live between North Carolina and Virginia and I have to drive either to Atlanta or New York.
@Heavyarms55 They're doing a lot better. They avoided bankruptcy years ago and have pushed policies that make them really popular, especially with appliances that people would rather not ship from Amazon without viewing in person.
@NIN10DOXD Good for them. I do think brick and mortar stores will always have a place in society. They simply need to find a proper balance with online retailers.
@gaby_gabito Because dataminers would tear it to shreds and spoil the whole game for us. I'm glad they are keeping it off the eShop.
I am patient. I can wait for the game to drop(release), or the pre-orders to drop. Matter of fact, I think I can already pre-order, from many stores.
@abbyhitter Hmm I didn’t think of that possibility!
@gaby_gabito Yeah, it's sad that we have to think in terms of that, but it's our new reality. Hackers like to ruin the fun for the rest of us that don't live near these demo Best Buy sites.
