Video Game Music Box has created a brand new album series featuring lots of lovely gaming soundtracks in lullaby form - and we're suddenly feeling far too relaxed and sleepy.
The first wave of albums includes iconic games and franchises such as Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy VII, Undertale, Chrono Trigger, Castlevania, and Pokémon - all of which are available to stream or purchase as we speak. If you struggle to get to sleep at night, want to introduce a young one to your favourite tracks, or just love the idea of having delicate little versions of the usually-epic pieces from these franchises, we urge you to give them a listen. You can check the albums out on Bandcamp (with limited free streaming available for select tracks), Spotify and iTunes.
The arranger behind these pieces, Video Game Music Box, notes that this is only the beginning for a series which is set to include many more albums.
"Music Box Classics will be a lifelong project, with each new album dedicated to a single game title or game theme. Each album will feature pure music box sound with no additional instruments. This is perfect for relaxing or falling asleep. And for those gamer parents who want to introduce their little ones to videogame music early on, these will be the perfect albums."

If you do head off to give these a listen, make sure to come back and let us know what you think in the comments below. As long as you haven't accidentally fallen asleep, of course!

Or.... Just wait for smash bros and get all the soundtracks with it! Simples!
Dang it !
Why don't Final Fantasy 8 ?
Balamb Garden theme, Galbadia Garden theme, Fisherman Horizon are Very Suitable for Music Box.
@pushmygran They should do a CD-box with all the music from that game.
@sanderev don't give them ideas. There's already too much for me to buy!
@sanderev I wonder how large an LP collection that'd be...
@NewAdvent
Just bought these two on Bandcamp. If you're up for a trade, let me know !
Damn, this is awesome. Even weird tracks like The Trial from Chrono Trigger sound so good...and remind me a bit of Professor Layton.
Thank you for introducing this to me, one of many reasons why I love the articles on this website.
It's on Google Play Music too.
The CT soundtrack is great in any arrangement. Some others named here I'm less sure about. At the very least, it'd feel kinda creeped out trying to go to sleep with a lullaby take on Aeris' theme playing in the background.
Zelda one bought. My little one needs some good waves to take a nap...
These are great. I might get tired of them being exclusively as a music box sound, but I'm enjoying them right now. Glad they're all on spotify as well
Neat idea. I don't really have to though. Several of Nintendo's dreamier melodies have accidentally and literally knocked me out when I was playing. Particularly that charming Village Bridge song in Black 2.
I kept seeing these albums pop in my media feed over the past few days; after skimming through this article I may have to pick them up. I have an eight year old who might enjoy these cute bits of nostalgia.
Nice. Put on Pokémon from Spotify right away!
This is a coincidence. I just finished compiling a playlist for my 7 month old daughter, using all the relaxing sounding videogame music I had. It features a lot of Chronotrigger and Zelda (in particular multiple versions of Zelda’s theme and Fairy Fountain themes), and the Eight Melodies theme from Earthbound (toy piano version of course!).
But these are even more perfect, as I can now include tunes like Robo’s theme from Chronotrigger (aka never gonna give you up by Rick Astley) which were too lively in their original form. Awesome!
EDIT: Just bought the Chronotrigger one, my daughter is going to be a fan, she has no choice!
All of these were beautifully crafted. That is all.
