They should be netflix with their entire VC catalog. Add in online multiplayer for a lot of the classic games too and people will eat it up even more. Then have different pricing options so they can be sure to get the maximum profit out of it by having pricing for various users and wallets
This is a huge chance for Nintendo, offer free online for classic games like Smash, older Mario Karts, Goldeneye, whatever and have people pay online subscriptions and have to pay a fee to upgrade their VC or download the VC
It must have close to every single other song from previous titles. The length of this title is impressive. And the remixes are of course all new and very fun. Highly recommended.
I was not a fan of Baten Kaitos. I kept playing it and wanting it to get better but the game had too many flaws. I got to the final dungeon and by then basic battles took too long and I eventually stopped playing. Symphonia and Arcadia were much better IMO
Really hard to rank them, but here's my list for Gamecube games, all of which I have really strong memories with. Melee in particular as I spent 7 years playing the game. There are others but I might have played them on other consoles first
Melee Resident Evil 4 Pikmin Tales of Symphonia Sunshine Metroid Prime Rogue Squadron Sonic Battle 2 Custom Robo Monkey Ball Wind Waker Luigi's Mansion Skies of Arcadia Bloody Roar 4 Soul Caliber II Simpsons Hit & Run XIII Spider Man 2 Crazy Taxi Killer7 Eternal Darkness Animal Crossing
My wife and I share an account and it's definitely helped me be more into it because we get to talk about what we did or were able to catch that day, etc. But with the latest update they made it where it'll be glitchy at best since we can't travel halfway across town and start using it there, we must be using location services and cheating. We haven't gotten banned but we can't really both play it now, which sucks and drops our usage rate. Not good for anyone.
@ThomasBW84 "Upgrading weapons - for example - is no longer a simple case of money and armour spheres" Is this supposed to say upgrading armour? I always thought they should have you be able to upgrade the armour with monster parts-- at least later on instead of having to amass the next level of armour spheres.
Are all the maps the same as MH4? Any brand new monsters not in any previous monster hunter games?
If you say that first party developed games like Zelda garner $20-30 of pure profit, that means that they spent $40-60 million on development of this game alone. Whether that's a lot or not, the real question is whether they are still subsidizing the price of hardware through their software sales. Because if the NX is sold at a loss as is standard by others in the industry, Zelda would be a huge benefit in recouping losses incurred by the NX. However, if Zelda won't even start to recoup costs until after 2 million units, that could hurt.
Edit: Nintendo has said they will not sell the NX at a loss. Good on em. Wii U reportedly still sold at a loss.
I really want Amiibo weapons-- they don't even have to be color copies with different bomb sets of current weapons. Have new weapons in there. Diddy could have twin semi-automatic peanut pistols. Pit could have a sniper that could curve slightly. Dedede could have a hammer-themed roller that gets all around your character (90 degrees to the left and right). ZSS (and maybe Pikachu?) could have a quick blaster that didn't do a lot of damage but slowed down the character (like a mini-stun). Fox could have a super quick firing lazer that does not hinder movement at all. Bowser Jr. obviously would have a paint brush. DK would have a coconut bazooka. Marth could have a brush that when you went to "swipe it", it would dash forward sort of as a strike that killed (and of course had a delay afterwards). Zelda and Link could have lots of cool options. Kirby's tough but I'm sure they could think of something fun. Little megaman lemons that you can fire a short distance out in front of you but still move at a normal speed. You could even have fun with different bombs associated with Amiibo and then even mix and match the bombs and weapons of different Amiibo.
Splatoon is one of those games that have so many weapons already that it doesn't feel so much like "locking content just for plastic" as it is just adding additional content.
It should be translated into Mandarin Traditional and Simplified, and Cantonese. Anything more than that is overkill. People in China are used to media not being necessarily in their native dialect, so long as it is in their base language
I absolutely loved it. Enjoyable from start to finish. I'm a big fan of strategy games and liked the different elements they added to it. Advance wars is one of my favorite games ever (including all through the series) so I definitely hope they make more of those too, but Steam deserves some recognition and a sequel in some fashion
Another one for RPGs, but particularly pokemon was pushing a (or sometimes B) when an attack landed to hit a critical, or pushing it when a pokemon was trying to get out of a pokeball in time with the sounds it makes, stuff like that. Good times.
@BulbasaurusRex I have played ffVi and it was mostly good, but even then the controls still feel a bit annoying. Like walking around town with sprint shoes on was too difficult for what it was worth. Controls are still lacking
The way Intelligent Systems' Codename Steam and Fire Emblem uses them is spot on the way they should do it. Give you fun additional content that's not broken. It's a nice bonus if you have the figures. Then, the figures could be used for multiple games too, better than just DLC or so. Nintendo could easily take better advantage of the Amiibo already out there. Make them unlock character specific weapons in Splatoon. Have them give you armor sets in Monster Hunter. Karts in Mario Kart. Skins in almost any game. They have to be something where there are plenty of other options (like weapons in Splatoon) but it's fun to have character specific ones too. Then it will drive people to perhaps buy the characters instead of for just a collectible. After all, that's the reason I'm looking for Marth, Lucina, and other fire emblem characters. I want to use them in the new fire emblem games along with Ike who I already own.
@sillygostly Sure! I was just trying to convey how badly I want a new Advanced Wars. I love FE and loved Codename STEAM and am confident they're already working on another great game but there's not a lot that I want more than a new Advanced Wars.
I had just upgraded my initial 3DS to a smash-themed 3DS XL when they announced the New 3DS. I still might have gone for one if they had come out with a version (big or small) with interchangeable plates in NA from the get go.
Honestly, Nintendo should have called the system something else, had more visible marketing for the thing, and made Smash only work on the new system. Then they possibly could have included ice climbers. But what's more, they could have gotten a huge "launch" game for the system and sales would be drastically better. With that install base, they should have tried to do more new system only games. Far as I can tell they only have Xenoblade, right? Even the new FE still works on the old 3DS.
Not that I'm complaining as a consumer. I'm happy with my old 3DS. But from a business standpoint, many missed opportunities for Nintendo. I'd be upset if I was a shareholder.
This article made me want the game! Huge monster hunter fan and final fantasy fan. It sounds like they made a few cool changes that it would be nice if Monster Hunter implemented too. I hope this section of the series stays around
@Smokingspoon I think most agree that Radical Dreamers is good (albeit short) but the creator doesn't have to necessarily agree. Hell, Radical Dreamers is great if just for the music alone
@QuadraSmash I don't remember seeing Zero get out of any, or at least not many of Nairro's combos. That in essence means that no matter what Zero did (no matter what DInput he did) he got hit. That's the kinda stuff that is a bit frustrating. I love smash and am fine with it the way it is, but I think it could be better without some of those. And the problem is primarily just due to grabs. They can set up a combo for many characters and so grabs have become very prolific. I guess I wouldn't complain as much if it was a tougher-to-hit-with initial move that set up more of the combos. Because I do agree that no combos would make it slower or more neutral. How do you feel about grabs in particular?
@QuadraSmash There are plenty of combos where subsequent hits are unavoidable. And that's all well and good, all other fighting games have it. I just prefer there to be counterplay and it to be about reaction time and reading your opponents instead of knowing combos. That's why I've liked Smash instead of other fighting games. Look at the competitive scene. ZSS down throw to up air combos. If the best players in the world couldn't get out of that combo, how can we?
I went last year to play Wii U Smash. I think it was before it was officially released? Can't remember. Either way, it was kinda fun. This year I'll check out Mario Maker I guess
@QuadraSmash it's annoying to have throw combos that you can't do anything about as the defender. If Samus down throws you at a low percentage Samus can then forward air A and as the defender you will get hit. No counter play. You can d-input to make sure you don't get hit by another forward A or anything else. But knowing the combo isn't a fun skill. The defender should be able to do something to counteract it. Otherwise just have the throw do more damage.
I wish there were less combos that you can't get out of. In that regard, I wish they made grabs more interesting instead of just setting up combos. I would like more counterplay to these counters instead of waiting until I have a higher percent (or not getting hit). I like it being about reacting and reading your opponent and such.
Cool matches to watch, makes me want to play competitively. I do wish they would change zero suit samus. I hate that the only real combo is throw to up airs and up Bs. Theres zero counter play once you get grabbed which sucks and it's also just not a fun way to play as ZSS. Several characters have stuff like this but right now ZSS has the strongest case of this
I love Gravity Falls enough to be interested in this despite knowing close-to-nothing about the game and despite most cartoon to video game recreations being bad
