@GinMiguel I mean it’s fine; I just expected more. I think whoever wanted it would’ve picked it up at the shadow drop or was itching (like me) waiting on the physical release. I could be wrong but I don’t suspect the sales would be much higher now.

Perhaps a fraction of the potential audience just didn’t feel the need to invest because the original versions are still a good experience. Metroid Prime 4 would almost certainly do better business.

I’m actually a little cautious on Dungeons. I’m sure they’ll be well integrated but it does feel like a concession for what I think was a relatively small and vocal online minority.I wasn’t devastated by their lack of inclusion in the absolute masterpiece that was BotW. I hope it doesn’t make the game more linear again.

@Don It’s a typical convention, just like how TotK was known as BotW 2 till we were informed differently.

I can see Switch tailing off completely at around 145m sold. Nothing to be derided.

It continually perplexes me why there’s any debate around Nintendo emulation efforts. If it’s not running on a Nintendo console, that means Nintendo don’t like it and there’s a good chance their legal team will crush you to preserve their profits. It’s capitalism.

Any sort of justification skirting around the edges of the issue is just irrelevant.

@Angelic_Lapras_King I wish. I think the Frozen movies, and Incredibles 2, are maybe a little out of its reach. I’ve absolutely zero love for Frozen, so that does pain me slightly.

It maybe has a small chance of taking down ‘Minions’ to become the #4 animated movie ever, and Illumination’s biggest success.

@KryptoniteKrunch I’m curious if their games would still come in at a modest file size on a platform without so many technical constrictions. It’s unlikely we’ll ever know though, comparatively. It just isn’t the game they play.

I’m intending to finally take down Age Of Calamity; I already did a reasonably in-depth second playthrough of BotW recently, thought I’d take in the narrative of Hyrule Warriors at last and get that trilogy experience with TotK.

Generally I think the older franchises are the way to go. I can’t really see past Mario (inc. Luigi and DK spin-off potential), LoZ and Metroid.

@MythTgr I vaguely remember there was a document showing a plan for surveillance, confrontation and execution (of the plan, not the person) a few years ago. They did go full undercover.

It’s pretty easy to stay on the right side of copyright law. Ask yourself who produced the product. Consider whether you then have a right to distribute that product.

I never buy these special edition consoles. I’ve already got a Switch: happily have done since launch day.

@Tempestryke I know it’ll be good by track record. LoZ rarely misfires for me. Personally I feel I was shown enough to ignite my imagination and wonder how the new abilities will change things up even more.

I actually quite like how little we truly know. Nintendo know this thing will basically sell itself. I’d be okay if we got just one more trailer and that was it. I’ll go in to this almost blind and just go for it.

@PinderSchloss Nonsense. You can’t possibly know the extent of what they’ve built from a 10 minute gameplay presentation: therefore you can’t possibly know this is ‘just DLC’ in scale. I find that very unlikely personally.

Looks fun, will change up combat and puzzles, is a very small part of the new additions. Expecting this to be very well received upon release.

BotW, Mario Odyssey, MK8D, Splatoon 2, Hollow Knight, Cuphead, Nier Automata, Persona 5… many others I’m sure.

2017 was a beast.

All I want is for them to keep the form factor and carry over their current online efforts and build on it considerably.

I would’ve fallen away from games more than I have if it wasn’t for Switch. I’d never play a 100hr game in front of a tv nowadays; it just doesn’t fit how I live.

I just finished Metroid Prime Remastered. I took my time just to soak it in: finished with 85% in 18hrs.

I plan to squeeze in Pikmin 3 Deluxe and, if I’m feeling appropriately mad, maybe a rudimentary 2nd playthrough of BotW. A refresh before their sequels.

Thought the new Yoshi track was quite lacklustre personally. The Tour tracks were great. I found the boomerang cup to be way stronger than the fruit cup.

@Bigmanfan If Prime Remastered can’t take the crown then it’ll be the mythical Prime 4. Metroid has never been a mega hit but this is definitely its moment. Dread really set up the revival and the Prime Remaster(s?) is knocking it out the Park.

@AngelSlayer You’re correct that I’m assuming but the demo took me a little over an hour and the save file said I was at 10% completion or so. As a general rule of thumb I’m looking for close to a 20 hour game for ‘full retail’ at the low end. That’s just my take though.

I really enjoyed what I did play, just more of a ‘wait and see’ than a day 1 purchase for me.

I’m not convinced it’ll be a particularly long game that justifies the £50 price tag. I found the demo charming though. I’ll wait and see what’s said about the overall length.

@Axecon A quick look shows the physical MPR available from Amazon, Shopto, Game, Nintendo and Hit. No stock issues in the U.K. by the looks of it.

@BLAZINOAH it sold 55,000 units, in 1 week, in just Japan. It’s not dead yet.

Personally I don’t think they’ll show a successor until quite near its launch date. Switch’s first trailer was just 5 months before its release.

I don’t expect a new console for about a year and a half. Switch will still shift 10s of millions more in that time.

@dugan They most definitely are. The west have a lot of soul searching they ought to be doing regarding who we empower.

The idea that a regime who enforce laws wherein people have their hands cut off or are lashed for things like ‘theft,’ ‘deviancy,’ or ‘drunkenness’ is now profiting from Super Mario et al just hits differently I guess. Nintendo take on an emotional element for people I guess. Nostalgia, etc.

Regarding creative control, you’ve got it. Thankfully they don’t warrant any input there.

Not gonna lie, this makes me uncomfortable. The idea that the Saudi state profits from Nintendo gives me pause. I know Nintendo haven’t seeked this out but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. They’re a nasty little regime.
