@Peach64 I would say Splatoon 3 is a statement of intent. They supported Splatoon 1 and 2 for what? 18-24 months? That potentially takes Switch in to 2024.
I don’t see why Nintendo are being criticised here? Maybe it sucks for legitimate suppliers in those countries but Nintendo are not obliged to take on that risk factor when there are desirable alternatives available.
As a kid I wasn’t a Metroid fan. I fell in love with the MP Trilogy. I was disappointed this wasn’t first footage of MP4 at first but now? I’m invested. It’ll be my first traditional Metroid I intend to buy at launch and properly play through. There is something about this that intrigues. Can’t put my finger on it.
Just finish BotW for goodness sake! If you’ve spent hundreds of hours on it and gotten every outfit and memory etc, why not finish the actual narrative and get to the credits? I can’t fathom this attitude 😆
@Chandlero Iwata was fantastic but he wasn’t the whole company. There are plenty of creative people at Nintendo. Good things will happen.
It sucks that ports and remasters have become a thing but it’s sort of an inevitability as the industry matures. New takes on Classics will bring revenue, like the movie industry.
@dew12333 It’s a tactic to exert pressure on Chapman et al. It’s not particularly dignified but at the end of the day they feel the need to protect their work and put forward their opinion. There’s different merits in either approach.
@Fido007 He’ll probably be given a vanity position wherein he isn’t really doing anything but his perceived presence will continue to reassure the shareholders. He’ll become an ‘Advisor to the Board’ or something.
Nintendo have 1 year’s grace where they won’t struggle to maintain their momentum. I still think they’ll be on top through 2022. By 2023 I think we’ll see sales levelling out with PS5 and XBX/C claiming large swathes of the market.
Switch’s successor will launch in late 2023 to Q2 2024.
@nessisonett Nintendo are the most cash rich company in Japan. I don’t think they will buy Sega, however they very much could. They could buy the entirety of Sega Sammy Holdings out right and still have $5bn+ in actual money sitting in the bank.
@Yanina The first Hyrule Warriors was absolute garbage in its original Wii U form, like truly dreadful. They introduced many many patches and it improved a bit. It only really became fit for purpose on Switch many years later.
I’m confident Age of Calamity will be patched just as efficiently. Given it’s in a better state to start with I reckon it’ll come good in the near future.
@RevengeFan I think Nintendo are afraid to use it. They’re holding on to it just to keep it buried for the most part. Silicon Knights had their controversies. It taints the legacy somewhat unfortunately.
@CharizardEmperor It depends greatly on the game but yeah, I have absolutely no intention of playing Mario Galaxy, Pikmin 3 Deluxe. Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3 or BotW 2 exclusively on a handheld.
I think Nintendo have another year on top with Switch. PS5 and XSX will really come in to their own in Holiday 2021, from a sales perspective. Switch will still be very much in the mix though: selling nicely enough.
I think a true Switch successor will land some time between Q3 2023 and Q2 2024.
I’ve said it before on here, my very first comment in fact...
EA are a garbage company with terrible anti-consumer practices. Ideally I’d have liked 0% of sales to be on Switch, given they’ve admitted it’s almost the exact same game as last year.
Nintendo have every right to forcefully request the removal of a LoZ title that has been created without their approval. I always fail to understand how fans think It’s in any way uncalled for. If I had a hit entertainment franchise, which just shifted 20m+copies of its latest instalment, I’d also make sure to protect its prestige and quash attempts at adding unofficial narratives between established canon.
@Supadav03 Thanks for that. The joycon probably could be cheaper now, 3 years down the line but I don’t think it was a bad price in the first instance. It was thought Nintendo were originally selling them at a loss. The right joycon also has more in it than the left: namely the nfc reader and the infrared depth tracker. So there could be a case for the separate joycon being different prices I suppose. A bit messy though.
@RandomNerds It’s different on account of the lack of the second screen but I felt much the same playing the switch demo as I did with Wii U in 2013. The essence of it is quite unaffected.
@Supadav03 All Wii U DLC included as standard, additional Olimar + Louie prologue and epilogue content, a few tweaks to the controls, a hard mode, possibly other stuff I’m not aware of.
I feel people need to stop looking upon this as a successor to Mario Kart 8. It’s not the intention. I’d have loved this as a kid. Nowadays? Not gonna buy it but I’m quite impressed by the tech (assuming it works more or less accurately).
@TerrakStarsurge SOME elements? SMALL elements? They straight up ripped it. The environments are BotW. It also looks quite different to this Honkai Impact game you kindly referred me on to. Maybe you lack a discerning eye.
I’d also seriously question who is sounding like a ‘damn child’ here; you or the author of the article, other commenters here and me? Be honest with yourself. Or just keep saying ‘toxic’. You do you.
I’d like to state, there’s no reason this game can’t be solid: even pretty damn good. I’m not questioning its potential in any way and I’m not saying it’s not visually beautiful. What I’m saying is it’s basically aesthetic plagiarism.
@TerrakStarsurge Okay, I’m looking and we’re gonna have to disagree on that one. A lot.
You can’t just say ‘cel shaded’ as a catch all term either. It’s not proof of what you’re claiming. Wind waker used cel shading and has a very different style to BotW. Sega’s Jetset Radio used cel shading before that too.
It’s nice that you’re such a big fan of free-to-play Chinese RPGs but you’re kidding yourself if you think they arrived at their latest style by their own volition. You’re also ignoring that the developer straight up admitted their game is heavily influenced by BotW.
But it’s also evident that you’ve got some inexplicable stake in believing what you believe so I’m now realising this has been a waste of typing time. Peace out ✌️
@TerrakStarsurge Please show me examples of the developer using this exact clone of BotW art style years before BotW came out. I wait with baited breath.

Hardcore gamers lacking maturity isn’t exactly surprising. Wholly unacceptable in this instance but all too predictable.
Re: Soapbox: Hurry Up And Release The Switch Pro Already, My Switch Is Dying
To be fair to Nintendo, this woman sounds like an absolute calamity. Look after your stuff 😂

Re: Genshin Impact Dev Responds To Breath Of The Wild Clone Comments, Insists It's A "Very Different" Experience
This game looks good. No matter what they say though, it’s creatively bankrupt. It’s a couple of Zeldas and Ōkami smashed in to a JRPG.
